Chapter 200: A Clown

When Susan saw Jocelyn being carried out by Aren yesterday, she thought that Aren would send Jocelyn to the hospital. She did not expect him to bring Jocelyn back to the Brown family.

Susan seemed to have found out at once why Old Madam Brown did not believe her. It must have been because Jocelyn had said something to Old Madam Brown before she arrived.

She had underestimated Jocelyn.

In an instant, Susan blamed Jocelyn for all the harsh treatment and words she received from Old Madam Brown and Aren. The way she looked at Jocelyn was filled with evil intent, which confused Jocelyn, who was coming down the stairs. She did not know what she had done to offend this unfamiliar woman to make her look at her like that.

If gaze could kill, Jocelyn thought that she would have been sliced into a million pieces by the woman sitting there.

Jocelyn pursed her lips and stopped moving. She thought about the possibility of returning to the room, pretending to not have heard or seen anything.

There was a distance between Jocelyn and Old Madam Brown. Old Madam Brown could not see the expression on Jocelyn’s face, but she could see she didn’t move.

Old Madam Brown turned her head to look at Susan. As expected, she saw Susan with an angry expression as if she wanted to eat Jocelyn alive. This finally made Old Madam Brown lose her temper.

“This is the Brown family. Are you expressing your dissatisfaction towards the Brown family by looking at Miss Jocelyn like that? Miss Susan?”

Madam Brown’s voice was like cold water that was poured on her body on a cold winter day. It was so cold that Susan felt like she had been frozen into an ice sculpture, and even all the hatred in her mind was smashed into pieces.

“You misunderstand me. I just didn’t expect Miss Jocelyn to be so good-looking. I was a little stunned for a moment.” When Susan flattered with a stiff and fake smile on her face. Madam Brown felt very disgusted. Even the favorite fruit plate in front of her lost its appeal.

Madam Brown snorted and looked away. When she looked at Jocelyn, her eyes became soft again. She smiled and waved at her. “Why are you still standing on the stairs? I’ve asked the kitchen to prepare breakfast for you. Come down and eat. I think you must be very hungry.”

Madam Brown was right. Jocelyn woke up this morning from hunger. She touched her empty stomach and hesitated for a moment. Then, she went down the stairs as instructed.

Her throat no longer hurt as much after the night’s rest, but she was still unable to speak. As usual, Jocelyn typed down her thoughts and handed the phone to Old Madam Brown.

“I’m sorry. I overslept this morning. I hope I didn’t cause you any trouble.”

Old Madam Brown grew more fond of Jocelyn because of how considerate she was. Touched by this little angle, Old Madam Brown immediately gave Jocelyn a big and warm hug.

“Oh, my little angel. Don’t say things like that. You won’t cause me any trouble. Your presence makes me feel better today.”

Old Madam Brown’s words made Jocelyn blush. She reached out and hugged Madam Brown back, then leaned her furry head on her shoulder and rubbed it carefully.

Old Madam Brown was so happy that she narrowed her eyes with satisfaction.

The intimate interaction of Old Madam Brown and Jocelyn were like sharp daggers that ruthlessly pierced into Susan’s eyes, making her eyes hurt so much that tears of blood were about to trickle out.

Susan felt that she was a complete clown. She did not achieve her goal and was horribly humiliated.

Susan kept her head down while biting her lips tightly. She was afraid that once she looked at Jocelyn, the hatred and anger would return to her face, and that she would put her family in great danger.

“Miss Susan, I need to eat with Jocelyn. If you have nothing else to say, you are free to go.” Old Madam Brown was clearly asking Susuan to leave. The moment she finished speaking, Butler Camilla came up to Susan.

Had this happened to anyone else, they would feel humiliated being chased away like that . However, to Susan who couldn’t bring herself to stay any longer, this was a great relief.

“I’ll get going then. Bye, Old Madam Brown. “.
