Dudu had exhausted himself from crying last night and was still asleep, so neither Ye Fan nor He Han wanted to disturb him.
Ye Fan took the first step and He Han followed. The two of them headed into the study and shut the door behind them.
There was silence for a few seconds, but Ye Fan spoke up first. “Did he sleep well?”
He Han nodded. “Like a baby.”
The air turned still again for a few moments. Then, they spoke at the same time. “We…”
Then, tacitly, both of them said at the same time, “You go first.”
Ye Fan and He Han froze again. Their eyes met.
“I think it’s necessary for us to discuss how we’re going to handle our relationship in the future.” Ye Fan looked into He Han’s eyes. Her eyes were clear, and the contrast of black and white was as clean as water.
He Han lightly hummed in response. “Mm.”
Their ideas coincided. He Han had also been thinking about it the whole night. He wanted to hear from Ye Fan first and see what sort of ideas she had.
Ye Fan pursed her lips. “I’m Dudu’s Mama, and you’re his Papa.”
Her attitude was serious. “We have to take responsibility in taking good care of Dudu.”
“Since Dudu already knows the truth…” Ye Fan said, “Then from today on, both of us will raise him together, and protect him from the public.”
He Han answered in a solemn voice, “I understand.”
Each word Ye Fan said fit every thought in his mind.
And there was one more thing both of them were clear about. If Dudu’s existence were ever revealed to the public, that would be detrimental to a child.
“I’ll help you reconcile with Dudu,” Ye Fan said, “He’ll slowly accept your existence.”
He Han looked at Ye Fan with a deep gaze in his eyes.
He knew that these words meant Ye Fan would also try to accept him and gradually integrate him into the family.
“Since we’re both Dudu’s parents…” Ye Fan was silent for a moment before continuing, “I feel that there is one thing I must tell you.”
He Han’s feelings for her were already very clear between the both of them.
Ye fan took a deep breath and told He Han honestly, “I have someone I like.”
H played a very important role in Ye Fan’s life. In fact, instead of calling it like, what she felt for him was more of gratitude and devotion.
She had never met H before and only contacted him through emails. Through H’s brief responses, she was unable to even learn of who he was exactly.
Despite that, she still couldn’t accept a person in such a short amount of time. So, after having a night to mull over things, she made a decision.
As those words came out, He Han’s face darkened. He remained silent.
In order to enhance the credibility of her statement, Ye Fan did not hold back, nor did she hide anything. Her voice was clear and cool. “I’ve known him for ten years.”
In those ten years, Ye Fan had originally wanted to wait until she became even more outstanding a person before asking to meet up with H. But she never had a chance to do that since losing contact with him two years ago.
He Han was stunned for a moment, but he quickly came back to his senses. His face was frozen and he spat out three words silently. “Is that so?”
He had also known Ye Fan for ten years.
Starting from that huge change in Ye Fan’s life, her life was forced off-track. It was in those darkest days that he reached out to her.
Ye Fan met He Han’s eyes with her clear gaze.
Her tone was serious and she elaborated on that fact, “I consider that man a very important part of my life.”
He Han’s lips curved silently into a smile.
Gaze deepening, he gave Ye Fan a meaningful glance.
He Han’s thin lips tightly parted, and his extremely deep voice carried an imperceptible hint of surprise.
“Really?”
