Chapter 188 – 1992-2020

The honeysuckle in the yard was almost all gone. At noon, the principal entrusted the children to the players after lunch and went out to sell flowers in the market by herself.

Lian Qiao thought to himself that the principal has a big heart, she even dared to entrust the children to them without knowing what kind of people these players were. But after thinking about it, a day in this instance is a year. This morning, he also noticed that there were some fine lines at the corners of the principal’s eyes and even a trace of white hair on her temples. It seems that for the NPC, everyone has lived together for two or three years so it makes sense.

With the principal absent, everyone was able to explore the orphanage more freely. Although the principal locked the door of her room, one of the players brought a master key and entered easily.

After all, the principal is a special person to RenDong. Lian Qiao watched the players rummaging through the principal’s room. At first, he was worried whether RenDong would mind but Little RenDong didn’t seem to care about it. He struggled lightly in Lian Qiao’s arms  and said, “Put me down.”

“Where are you going?” Seeing him walking outside, Lian Qiao hurried to catch up.

Little RenDong said: “I want to find other children to play. You don’t have to worry about me, you can go explore the scenario.”

Lian Qiao frowned: “No, I don’t trust you alone.”

Little RenDong smiled: “With you around, the children can’t relax. Don’t worry, I’ll just play with them in the yard to see if they have any clues. You can watch me from the second floor.”

Lian Qiao vaguely felt that RenDong was deliberately trying to get rid of him, but why?

RenDong must have his own considerations but why didn’t he tell him? What else can’t be said between them?

Lian Qiao hesitated for a moment, then sighed, rubbed little RenDong’s hair and said, “Okay, then you should be careful.”

RenDong went downstairs alone.

Two-year-old children can already run and jump. Little RenDong went down the stairs step by step, holding on to the stairs by himself. Lian Qiao felt that his heart was hanging in his throat when he watched from behind, for fear that he would fall.

Fortunately, RenDong was not a real child in the end. He has the mind of a 28-year-old adult man, so he should be extra vigilant when going downstairs.

After confirming that RenDong went downstairs safely, Lian Qiao breathed a sigh of relief. Sure enough, when he went to the window again, he saw several children surrounding Little RenDong and happily pulled him to the yard to play.

These children were already curious about him but for the past two days Lian Qiao has been hugging Little RenDong like a vicious dog protecting food, refusing to let him come into contact with anyone. At this time, the adult who was in the way was finally gone, and the children were very happy.

Realizing that he was rejected, Lian Qiao was a little aggrieved and then smiled helplessly.

Is he doting on RenDong too much?

If they had children, he wouldn’t be able to help spoiling them…

No, no.

The next few hours, Lian Qiao and everyone carefully explored a small western-style building. He glanced into the yard from time to time to check that RenDong was safe.

Fortunately, his worries were unnecessary. Those children didn’t have any malice towards RenDong, they were really playing games with him. Kicking the shuttlecock, throwing sandbags, jumping rubber bands, etc. They are all childhood memories.

“It reminds me of my son’s childhood.”

Lian Qiao was looking at the little RenDong in the game kindly, when a gentle voice suddenly came from beside him. When he turned his head, he saw the long-haired aunt standing beside him with a smile.

“How old is your son?” Lian Qiao asked casually.

“Still in junior high school.” The long-haired aunt has a very gentle temperament and, when she mentions her son, her eyes and brows are full of maternal brilliance, “Xu RenDong will grow up day by day. Will he go to school?”

“Probably.” Lian Qiao felt a little heavy when he thought about the future.

Will this instance really last 28 days? There has never been such a lengthy instance. He was worried that the medicine for RenDong was not enough.

RenDong has a heart problem. In addition to the regular one tablet a day, he has to take an extra one when he is emotionally ill. The space in the backpack is limited. When preparing things, he didn’t expect the instance to be so long, so he only brought about half a month’s worth.

Jiang Li said that the problem of RenDong can’t be cured by taking medicine alone. The main thing is to keep a happy mood and avoid being stimulated. Taking medicine is only to reduce his risk of disease and sudden death. If it really happens, taking medicine alone may not be able to suppress it. Lian Qiao later went to consult other experts in this field and everyone said the same thing.

Don’t be tired, don’t stay up late, don’t be stimulated.

It’s easy to say. But how to achieve it?

Lian Qiao couldn’t help sighing after thinking about it.

The long-haired aunt laughed suddenly: “If he goes to primary school, I can still help him with his homework. After all, my son just graduated from primary school, these six years…” She remembered something, smiled and shook her head. She said, “Hey, let me tell you, helping elementary school kids with their homework is really irritating. Kids don’t understand anything and they can’t sit still. You have to be prepared.”

Lian Qiao laughed: “That’s not the case here. After all, RenDong is not a real child, he is very sensible.”

“It’s not a matter of understanding or not.” When Aunt Long-Hair mentioned her parenting experience, she seemed very serious and reliable, “The child’s nervous system is not fully developed. So it’s not easy to concentrate…”

Lian Qiao nodded repeatedly and was about to take out his notebook to write down these parenting experiences when he suddenly heard a clear and tender child’s voice behind her.

“Lian Qiao!”

This call was like pouring a spoonful of syrup on the ice cream, Lian Qiao only felt sweet on the tip of his heart and the corners of his mouth were already raised when he turned his head.

“Here I am!”

Like a puppy wagging his tail, he happily ran to Little RenDong.

The two-year-old little RenDong had only grown a little taller and,  at this moment he raised his head slightly, looking at Lian Qiao who was flying towards him. He looked like his little master.

“What are you guys talking about?” His gaze slowly shifted from Lian Qiao to Auntie Long-hair.  They were clearly clear and bright children’s eyes, but there was a trace of disobedient coldness in them.

Aunt Long-Hair smiled and said: “We are talking about how to take care of a child.”

“I don’t need you to take care of me.” RenDong tugged at Lian Qiao’s sleeve. Lian Qiao immediately understood and reached out to hug him. Little RenDong hooked Lian Qiao’s neck, but stared at Aunt Long-Hair, “I only want him. I don’t need you to care about me.”

Aunt Long-Hair was stunned. Lian Qiao was a little surprised, not understanding why Little RenDong had such strong hostility towards her.

The long-haired aunt showed some embarrassment on her face. Before she could speak again, RenDong lay on Lian Qiao’s chest and said sleepily, “I’m tired, accompany me back to sleep.”

“Okay.” Lian Qiao carried him upstairs without hesitation.

It was only four o’clock in the afternoon and the principal hadn’t come back yet. There was still some time before dinner. Lian Qiao put Little RenDong on the bed and squatted beside the bed to take off his shoes and socks.

RenDong’s two short legs kicked and kicked innocently, but his eyes drooped slightly and his  thick eyelashes covered his thoughts.

Lian Qiao asked: “Did you get any clues from those children?”

“Huh?” RenDong paused for a second then realized and raised his eyes. “Oh, no.”

Lian Qiao then asked: “Do you hate that woman?”

Little RenDong nodded.

Lian Qiao asked: “Why? Have you seen her before?”

RenDong smiled wryly. This overly mature expression looked a little abrupt on the face of a child but it made people feel more distressed.

“She hurt me before.” RenDong paused, then added, “In another place.”

“Sure enough…” Lian Qiao frowned, “But she doesn’t seem to remember you.”

“Well. I was… Wearing a mask. She didn’t see my face.”

“What did she do to you?”

Little RenDong was silent for a moment and said, “She wanted to kill me, she wanted to pour concentrated sulfuric acid on me. She wanted to trick me into a remote place and gang up with a dozen people to hack me to death.”

Lian Qiao was startled when he heard that. His eyes opened wide and he asked: “Then you…”

RenDong smiled, raised his little hand and stroked his eyebrows and eyes: “Don’t ask. It’s all over.”

Lian Qiao grabbed hold of his hand, put it in her heart as if he was afraid. His eyes trembled  slightly: “When did this happen? Why didn’t I know?”

“There is no need to tell you about the other dungeons.” RenDong lowered his eyes and avoided his gaze. He said, “You don’t have to avenge me and anyway she didn’t recognize me. Don’t let this kind of person get your hands dirty.

“But…”

RenDong smiled and his small face gently rubbed against his neck. He coquettishly said: “Be obedient.”

“…” Lian Qiao was helpless. Who is older and who is younger?

RenDong sniffed the breath on his neck, as if extremely obsessed. The eyelashes blinked and scratched Lian Qiao’s neck, making him itchy.

“I didn’t tell you, just because I was afraid that you would be impulsive.” RenDong whispered in his ear, as if in a dream, “Don’t become a bad person.”

Lian Qiao always felt that there was a hidden meaning in his words. He tilted her head and waited for a long time. RenDong didn’t say any more.

Am I thinking too much…

Lian Qiao sighed, bent down, and laid him flat on the bed: “Go to sleep. Aren’t you tired?”

“Yes.” RenDong reluctantly grabbed the corner of his clothes. “Sleep with me. Don’t go.”

Lian Qiao looked at his helpless and mournful look, and felt that his heart was tightly clenched by him. So he took off her coat, lay down beside him, kissed his forehead, and said, “Okay, I won’t go. I’ll accompany you.”

Little RenDong slipped into his arms and curled up like a kitten asking for warmth.

After sleeping for more than an hour, someone knocked on the door. Lian Qiao, who was alert even in his sleep, woke up suddenly. RenDong was in a deep sleep so Lian Qiao tucked him in the quilt and got up alone to open the door.

It was Little Apple who knocked on the door. She poked her head and asked in surprise, “What are you doing?”

Lian Qiao put his finger on his lips, signaling her to be quiet. Then he lowered his voice and said, “He’s sleeping. What’s the matter?”

“The principal is back, it’s time for dinner.” Little Apple’s eyes fell on his chest, showing a suspicious expression, “Why is your chest wet?”

Lian Qiao looked down in a dazed manner, only to find that his chest had a big wet patch.

Little Apple: “Is your son drooling?”

Lian Qiao: “…” He actually drools! When he was a child, he would drool when he slept! Ahhhhhh!

Little Apple looked at the corners of his mouth that turned up wildly in shock and asked in deep thought: “You, what kind of expression do you have?”

“Dinner, right? I know, I’ll be down in a while.” Then he closed the door lightly.

Little Apple, who was locked outside the door: “…”

What to do, I’m suddenly worried about Xu RenDong’s safety.

This bastard can’t really be a pedophile, right?
