Mark decided to increase his spell Forest Sanctuary to level ten. He noticed that during his fight with the undead, the mythical creatures that he thought were just decoration inside the spell fought the unnatural beings and since there were more of them compared to the spell Dryad’s Circle and the MP cost was lesser than the next spell on its tree which was the Forest Paradise, he decided on Forest Sanctuary.

Since the spell Forest Sanctuary already had one skill point, he added nine more points to round it to ten. The spell would now regenerate fifty-five MP and HP per second and it now had a thirty-second duration and its area of effect increased from forty by forty feet to eighty-five by eighty-five feet. Its casting cost increased to ninety-five MP. The range remained the same at seventy feet.

His skill points total decreased from sixty-six to fifty-seven. Mark thought at first that he had plenty of skill points but looking at its dwindling number, he knew that he would need to select the spells that he would increase carefully.

The mechanics of the spell remained the same. Aside from its ability to regenerate his HP and MP it would also detoxify all poisons and cure all diseases. Not only that, but it was also still able to nullify long-range attacks and would still work as a short-term shield due to the fact that enemies would not be able to enter the sanctuary.

Mark cast the spell Forest Sanctuary to check what changes happened when he increased the level of the spell. The obvious one was, of course, that the AOE was huge. In case of a large area of effect spell attack, Forest Sanctuary should be able to protect the whole circus without any problem. He wondered if it would be able to protect them from a dragon’s breath attack. The FAQ did state that it would nullify all range attacks so it should but he was hoping that he wouldn’t need to test it out soon.

The next change that he noticed was that the number of unicorns increased from one to three and they were a sight to behold. Their beauty took his breath away especially if they were gathered in a group.

To see the beautiful unicorns frolicking with each other in the middle of the sanctuary was a sight to behold.

The number of little fairies and sprites also multiplied and seeing them playing in the multitudes of exquisite flowers brought Mark to a state of dream-like trance. The dryads' gorgeous appearance which also increased in numbers hiding amongst the trees magnified the sanctuary to a level of paradise and Mark would have been happy to live among them forever. After thirty seconds, the spell expired and it left a lingering sweet taste in the air.

Mark was not able to see enough of the sanctuary so he cast it again just to view the beauty of the spell. He also cast Floating Sunflower and he saw that his regeneration doubled and he was sure that the spells should be able to support the cost of his spell casting without any problem.

The next spell that he planned to increase was his two defense spells, the Bark Skin and Space Shield. He focused on the spell Space Shield first. It was currently level three so he added seven points to the spell to increase it to level ten. The spell now had a false life defense equal to 330 HP and the shield would only collapse if that HP was exhausted but since he increased the spell to level ten, the shield's reappearance after it was destroyed was decreased to its maximum of three seconds.

It meant that his spell Space Shield would re-appear after it was destroyed after only three seconds. The casting cost which was also its upkeep cost would also increase from twenty MP to sixty-five MP but the good news was the re-appearance cost would remain at five MP.  Now his total skill points decreased to fifty.

Mark cast his Space Shield spell to check its changes and three translucent shields appeared rotating around him. The translucent floating shield although increased in numbers didn’t obstruct his view but they did look gorgeous and very magical. He thought of summoning a golem and commanding it to attack him to check his defense but thought that he should do it at a later time once he completed spending his skill points.

The next spell that he wanted to increase was still a defense spell which was his Bark Skin spell. This defensive spell also had three skill points already so he added seven points to it to round it to ten.

The magical and physical defense that Bark Skin would provide him increased to 120. Together with the defense of his armor set, his defenses were now formidable. The duration also increased to a total of seventy-five minutes and the casting cost increased to sixty-five MP.  His skill points went down from fifty to forty-three.

The next set of spells that he would like to increase was his attack spells and his summons but since he only had forty-three skill points left, he decided to increase them to five skill points each.

Mark decided to focus on his Space and Void Chancellor attack spells first. The first spell he increased to a total of five levels was Void Chain Lightning. Level five Void Chain Lighting had a damage of 500 and could chain up to thirteen enemies. It now had a casting cost of eighty MP and its range which was seventy feet remained the same.

Since he was outside his villa, he immediately cast the Void Chain Lightning spell and the only visual difference was the thickness of the lightning increased. Since there were no enemies, Mark didn’t know what the increase in spell level would look like once it hit them. His total skill points were now forty-five.

The next spell Mark decided to increase to level five was Void Meteor and since it was already level three just like Void Chain lightning, he only added two skill points. Now the damage of Void Meteor increased to a total of 700 but its MP cost also increased to ninety-five but its area of effect of fifty by fifty feet and range of seventy feet remained the same.

Mark thought of the number representation of his damage, his defense, his HP, and MP and wondered how it worked. Did a real-life enemy have a set of quantifiable numbers of HP that once exhausted, they would die?

He knew how it worked in a game but how did it work in real life? The best thing that he could do was ask someone who knew about these things like the elven sisters first.
