Chapter 277

There are adventures and knights ahead of us. So far, they don't know of any creatures or monsters that are affected by the devil. They don't know any of the devil's characteristics, but even they can tell when something is strange, whether it's a monster's behavior or their appearance. So far, nothing seems strange to them.

Of course, we don't really ask them directly, like, "Have you seen a devil?" That would just cause an unnecessary uproar, and that's the last thing any of us wanted. It's a delicate subject. On one hand, we've seen a devilish creature and that warrants a full investigation, but what if it's just a one-time occurrence? What if by doing this, we cause other demons to go into hiding to further increase their strength?

After discussing it with others, we decided that it's better if we fully explore this dungeon first and foremost, at least we should solve the problem that has been clogging this dungeon, especially the ghastly knight. He roams around injuring knights and adventurers alike. They're not mortally wounded, but this ghastly knight is strong, strong enough to fend off anything that comes at him. Not only that, it's not a boss monster, so it's free to roam the dungeon.

We move on to the next floor and still haven't encountered anything particularly strange. This earthly dungeon, it's sometimes narrow and sometimes wide. The scalactite (apparently that's what the pointy things above are called) will occasionally snap and hurl itself at us. Either because it's fragile to begin with, or because the release of the petrification wave causes a tremor in the cave. There's also an earthquake every now and then, causing us to stumble.

"Item Box" [Diana]

"This is a creative way to deal with the incoming Scalactite" [Teliara].

"And I can use it to attack the monster afterwards, killing two birds with one stone" [Diana].

This dungeon is also rich in Core. Mostly Earth Core. They are scattered around. Most of them are of low quality, but occasionally we'll find one that's good. It's not as good as the one in my wand, after all, it's given by Adamantoise, so it's hard to find a better one than this, but it's good enough to be used as a catalyst or to be sold.

"A Mimic Core. Crafty" [Diana].

"Really? It looks like a normal core" [Dana]

"Well, Fie doesn't want to eat it, and I can definitely feel a soul inside" [Diana].

"If that's the case, you better kill it" [Dana]

"Or I can tame it. It's a mimic, but it has the characteristics of a good quality earthly mana core. I'm sure it can be used in many ways" [Princess Siti]

"Interesting. It can be used to make a pseudo-living weapon, or it can be used in a furnace to further strengthen an armor!" [Diana]

"That's a great idea" [Merlin].

"I have you, Brother Nar and Sas to thank for" [Diana]

"Come on Dana, you don't want to lose to Diana, how about you... Ouch! Hey wait a minute, do you want the mimic to bite me! How dare you! I thought we were best friends forever and ever!" [Princess Siti]

"Yes, we are, so I'm sure you wouldn't mind being eaten by the mimic!" [Dana]

"Oh! You know what, how about you be the first to be bitten by it!" [Princess Siti]

And there they go again. They're really close. Since they're playing together, I'll try taming the mimic with magic first. If that doesn't work, I'll use witch art. I communicate with it and tell it that if it wants to join us, we can give it food to eat. Of course, it will have to work as well. I tell him what we can do with him. I thought he would appreciate being part of a living weapon, but...

"Witch art: Take Over" [Diana]

"Almost got him" [Tiara]

"Perhaps you should increase your persuasion skill" [Merlin].

"But wouldn't he be happy to be part of a living weapon!" [Diana]

"You're actually telling the mimic soul that? No wonder he's pissed" [Teliara].

"Basically, you are telling him to become a prisoner" [JOATMON].

"I see... Well, now he's tamed by my witch art. The question is, how do I keep him?" [Diana]

"Just let him go with us. Who knows, he might be useful" [Merlin]

"It's strange though... A mana core with limbs... Definitely something you don't see every day" [Tiara]

"Meow" [Fie]

"Urgh... I guess Diana got it" [Princess Siti]

"Don't worry, I can give it to you if you want" [Diana]

"Really! You're very generous! But I'll try to get one for myself" [Princess Siti].

"Diana, tell the mimic to bite her" [Dana]

"Excuse you!" [Princess Siti]

And they start fighting again. They're really close, aren't they? I wanted to think of a name for the mimic, but I don't have a good idea. It also seems to be hungry, so I feed it with my own earth mana. Hmm... If I keep it as a pet, I will have to feed it like I feed Fie with my mana every day, so...

"Master Merlin, how does Mimic get a baby?" [Diana]

"That's an interesting question. Isn't the theory that once they've digested enough of themselves, they just hatch a new one?" [JOATMON]

"That is almost correct. Basically, once they get enough organ to make themselves, they will assemble it inside themselves, and then they will regurgitate it and a new mimic is born" [Merlin].

"Gross" [Tiara]

"Why do you ask that?" [Tiara]

"Well, I'm thinking of releasing it into Diana's mirage dungeon and letting the... I mean..." [Diana]

"Ah, I see. Great idea" [Merlin]

"It's fine. Nar and Sas actually told us Special Knight about it." [Teliara]

"Ohh..." [Diana]

"Basically, you wanted a mimic monster in your own dungeon. Once they breed, we can tame them and use them, right?" [JOATMON]

"Exactly!" [Diana]

"Hmm... You know what, as the princess of this country, I feel that this dungeon will also benefit from it. Diana, if this mimic is unique, can you please do it here instead? Please" [Princess Siti].

"Alright sure" [Diana]

"You really are a good girl, unlike that girl next to me" [Princess Siti].

"What was that?" [Dana]

And again they fight
