Chapter 297

It's been a week since I arrived from Emas. Today Nar, Sas and I are browsing in the library. Not the local library, but the national one.

It's big. It's a place of knowledge where students of higher education, experts in their field, usually find themselves. It contains various blessings from various fields from several experts.

Here I am, looking for a book to deepen my knowledge about magic. I'm sure I can just ask Sas, since he's knowledgeable. I can even ask Master Merlin, Teacher Tiara, Teliara and others, but there is also the need to increase my knowledge by my own efforts, that's why I am here today.

Nar and Sas, since they're free today, decided to help me. Khamisah and Dana wanted to help, but they've been called away by the Adventure Guild for some last-minute emergency. That, as well as the inevitable, where Sister Khamisah would soon retire as The Saga... It's her decision, after all, in order to better help Aunt Amleth and the soon to be released from her curse, Ophelia.

"Mr. Head Librarian, may I please float over and take the Grimoire?" [Diana]

"You actually asked before you did it. That's a good development" [Head Librarian].

"She's turning into a fine young noblewoman" [Caprio].

"I'm always a fine young noble lady!" [Diana]

The half-Golem-half-Hafling Head Librarian and Chief Judge Caprio are making fun of me. If the Wandering Sage is here, he will surely join in, though

"No, we haven't heard from him" [Head Librarian].

"That's just the way he is. Always wandering around, hence his nickname" [Caprio].

"And here I'm thinking of asking for a tip or two, but since Teliara hasn't heard anything, I guess I'll just have to wait" [Diana].

The Wandering Sage will definitely give some solid advice. I don't know how, but since he's called a sage, he must be pretty wise. He and his act of playing with his long white beard when he thinks will surely come up with something. I can't wait to ask him, and the candy he'll bring. It's delicious.

"That's some heavy reading" [Nar].

"True. It's no good if you skip the basics" [Sas].

"But..." [Diana]

"Come now, your two brothers are right. Even I will always go back to my basics before studying a much harder topic" [Caprio].

"I'm sure it's a secret what you're about to do, but allow me to help you recommend a better book and grimoire. Of course, not the super secret or forbidden ones" [Head Librarian].

"Fine. I'm not in a hurry." [Diana]

I can't win against these four. They're all much older and wiser than me. So it's better to just listen to their advice and read through the basics. I mean, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to just go through the basics one more time.

"This is... Even more detailed than the one in our curriculum" [Diana].

"Of course. For the kids, they will make the concept as simple as possible while keeping the content accurate" [Nar].

"There are still some things I think should be edited from the textbook, but who am I to do that?" [Sas].

"It's better this way. True, as a scholar and judge myself, I think some things should be changed, but revising the children's textbook is no small task. What we write and what would be taught will definitely affect the entirety of the future generation" [Caprio].

"I was asked by the Ministry of Education to participate in the revision of some books, but they rejected my proposal, saying that the content is not good for school children" [Head Librarian].

"That's logical. From what I heard, the two of you and the wandering sage have been reading a difficult book from an early age. Not all children can do that" [Nar].

"But all children have that potential. Be it commoner or royalty" [Head Librarian].

"Alice, the receptionist from the Adventure Guild, is a good example. Not to mention you two as well. Always busting in, trying to read something beyond your level, and then scratching your head trying to figure it out. How Time Flies" [Caprio].

They reminiscing of the past event. Looks like Nar and Sas are just as much troublemakers as I am. How rude! I'm sure I'm even better behaved than them.

While I flip through the pages to better understand the contents of the book, Nar and Sas also start flipping through the book they took with them. It's undoubtedly much thicker and harder to digest, but they did it anyway. Not only that, they also take a book on politics and economics as part of their self-study. Feeling a bit bored, I tried to read one of the books they wanted to read, but

"What is the meaning of this... Hard to say word?" [Diana]

"Don't just skip chapters. This word means that the control of money in and out of the country should be able to maintain an important stability of a currency... That is, if you understand it." [Nar]

"How so?" [Diana]

"Well..." [Nar]

Nar himself is still a beginner in this topic, so his explanation is a bit rough. So is Sas, but the Head Librarian came to the rescue by giving a simple explanation that is easy to digest.

As time goes by, I still can't find a solution or even a basis for my new self, but I learn a lot today and even have fun with Nar and Sas. All in all, a day well spent.
