A public execution

One of the Empire soldiers we captured yesterday is now sitting on a wooden platform while everyone looks on in anger. Not a single word that describes him in a nice way. Not a single word of pity. Everyone expects him to die a horrible death.

One of a young turtle coffin, together with the executioner. The turtle coffin was dressed in a very similar way as the executioner. A black robe, but instead of covering the whole body and face, it only covers the coffin.

The judge, who recapitulated the whole incident so that the soldier could testify to it, and without a single regret, the soldier proudly told us all to rot in hell. This only adds to everyone's anger as the soldier laughs maniacally. He seems to enjoy it.

"You did a terrible deed and now you are laughing at us!"

"You're just a worthless human being!"

"Die a horrible death!"

"Fuhahahahahaha. Go ahead. Curse me all you want. My only regret is that I was killed in a weak country, in this weakling Philip. You should know that no matter who takes the throne, be it Prince Rufus or anyone else, the fate of this weak worthless slump country is nothing but doom!"

While this statement of his added fuel to the fire, it also caused the crowd to fall silent. They knew that the soldier's words were logical. It was a bitter pill for them to swallow. Taking advantage of this, the king gave his speech to encourage the masses, and seeing that this was a good time, he also told his subject about yesterday's discussion. However, I thought that a mixed reaction would be shown

"Better that than to be trampled by that evil empire!"

"I have cancer that will devour me sooner or later, if my soul can be exchanged for the life of my family, then so be it!"

"Long live the coffin turtle!"

"Long live Philip!"

"Sigh..." [Joseph]

"Regret?" [Elder Giant]

"No. Just pondering. Will I go down in their history as a sage of infinite wisdom or a devil who gave them the sweet, sweet apple?" [Joseph]

The wandering sage has just taught the elder turtle a simple thing. To lead him whenever he feels like it. The Elder Turtle is also a great student. Able to use the knowledge and wisdom of a sage to the advantage of himself and his fellow coffin turtle

It may be a good thing at first glance, but we can all think of several bad things.

For me, what happens if they can't provide the coffin turtle with the essence of being? Will they revolt? If that happens, surely others will always take advantage.

As for what Wandering Sage thinks, there's more. One is the abuse of power. Although the Elder Turtle is a kind person... I mean a kind turtle, he doesn't fully understand the aristocratic thinking of a human country. Suppose a king wants to get rid of someone, he can just say the word, and the coffin turtle will devour that person's essence.

Of course, the coffin turtle will take the essence of those who are perceived as bad or evil, but it can be easily manipulated. Torture. Coerce. Hypnotize. Several things can be done to make the coffin turtle "determine" that the one presented to it is indeed one with malicious intent, hence...

"Our job is simply to bear witness and tell Her Highness Queen Amleth. Our opinion should be kept to ourselves" [Dana].

"True. You two are from the hero household, even a grunt from you will be considered a statement"

"As much as I wanted to say that's an overreaction, what the receptionist said is indeed the truth, especially after we helped capture the soldier" [Linda].

He we are, at the Adventure Guild, reporting and closing in the request. As previously agreed, we will get the thing needed to upgrade Werehouse, especially the coffin turtle part. While I'm happy that we can get it without killing the coffin turtle, this whole situation is not what I expected when I started this journey.

After counting and making sure everything is in place, Linda signs the application form and the reward form, officially closing this case, although we are all sure this is far from over, but we have nothing left to participate in. For now...

"As I said, I'll tell you all at once. Be patient" [Joseph].

"I don't really like this..." [Kat]

"I can already guess what you're going to say..." [Linda]

I'm sure it's nothing but bad news, but for now, let's all go home, along with the elder giant and the wandering sage.
