[Nar point of view]

Elegast, the fallen noble elf, is currently attempting to communicate with the Hanging Treant. According to Diana, this Hanging Treant was once used to punish the wrongdoers, and apparently they hanged an innocent saint, which makes it a good treant. Sas and I understand some of what they're talking about. Some is a very strong word, though, because I'm sure Elegast is communicating in an ancient elven tongue, something he has trouble with. Besides, even the Hanging Treant seems unable to fully communicate with Elegast due to his own anatomy,

"Thank you, dear ancestor, for your kind guidance" [Elegast].

The Hanging Treant began to move. Of course we all follow. Another forest to enter, and this one, like every other forest in Amleth, is a lush one. Leading the way is Elegast himself, followed by me. Sas will be stationed at the back to detect any ambushes. Randy, someone flexible, will be in the middle, the rest are scattered between us.

The ones from the Church, as we move, are setting up a sacred barrier to help us all. To prevent unexpected ambushes, to dispel any traps or curses, and to strengthen our own power in the worst case, when fighting is unavoidable. Cardinal Davis is leading the spell to get the barrier, and next to her, Jean is assisting. When words come out of this, I'm sure the masses will be confused as to why the traitor to the Church is still actively helping Cardinal Davis.

The sacred barrier really helps us because more and more evil curses are trying to harm us. For someone like us, it will be harmful. Even I will have problems despite the immunity I have built up this year. I'm sure there are only a few people who can be completely safe from this amount of curses, such as Queen Amleth and our very own Diana herself, though I guess no one can compete with the Goddess' favorite child, Saintess Rumia, when it comes to this.

The Hanging Treant communicates with other nearby trees through its branches. At least that's what Elegast says. None of us can hear it, but I have the feeling that the branches that are complicating our journey have been slowly retracted by the trees themselves. Such a miracle. I'm sure others, especially elves with a high Nature attribute, will be able to perform similar feats.

"A barrier. Similar to one used by the Church. This confirms it" [Cardinal Davis].

"Tchh, they always do bad things"

"Bringing shame to the name of saints and saintess"

"Can it be broken by brute force? If so, let me handle it" [Oreforged]

"Uncivilized as usual, you filthy dwarf. Let the expert do the necessary" [Elegast]

"What was that, you fallen elf?" [Oreforged]

"Please, let's not bicker here" [Kat].

Kat shares our opinion. I'm sure there's nothing to be gained by them arguing here. Jean, in place of the Cardinal, begins to cast a spell, and it quickly dispels the barrier. I'm sure it's not easy, but since Cardinal Davis said that it's similar to the one used by the Church, some of the mechanics remain the same, which is why Jean was able to dispel it without much difficulty.

As soon as the barrier is dispelled, a large number of wrathful ghosts begin to swarm around us.

[HELP US] [LET ME DIE] [PLEASE DON'T TORMENT MY DAUGHTER] [MY SON IS DYING] [MEOW! MEOW] [CURSES YOU] [THE THING] [WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO US] [HELP ME, GOD] [NO! WE'RE NOT FOOD FOR THAT THING] [YOU EVIL BASTARD]

Such strong emotions. Cardinal Davis, on the other hand, simply walked toward them, unbothered. He casts a protective spell around him, just in case, and one by one the wrathful spirits surround him. They seem to recognize the robes as their enemies and begin to attack the Cardinal. In response, the Cardinal simply bows and begs forgiveness. Of course, the ghost does not accept.

(He could just strike the ghost with his holy power, and yet he's taking the long way out) [Nar].

The cardinal began to speak with a mother. The mother hated the evil side of the Church when she saw her own son beaten to death. Cardinal Davis cried with her and told the mother he was sorry he couldn't be there for her. A cat began to scratch Cardinal Davis' cheek. In response, the cat is slapped on the head. A dog barked loudly and got the same treatment as the cat. A dwarf from the Dwarf Land lamented how he wanted to turn into a new leaf, only to be dead. Cardinal Davis tells him how brave he was to make that choice. One by one, slowly but surely, the angry ghosts gain enlightenment. Even the Hanging Treant helps by radiating his holy power so that the wrathful spirit can have its last moment of peace.

Cardinal Davis bows to the Hanging Treant as he respects the Hanging Treant. The Hanging Treant, in turn, does the same. Perhaps because it's their profession, they share similar thoughts.

"Shall we?" [Cardinal Davis]

"Yes!"

We all answer in unison.
