Steve felt that, when he was strong enough, he must go to the Southern Continent. After all, the Apollo battleship's security problem had been solved, so Steve no longer had a reason to stay here.
"How do I get back after I leave? I don't always have to go through the Magical Beast Mountains, do I?" Steve asked.
"I have left my spiritual imprint in your communicator. You can contact me through that if needed," Judy said calmly. "If you need to come back urgently, I will open a transmission channel for you."
Steve nodded, then said regretfully, "Unfortunately, I won't be able to sail the Apollo battleship away."
This was indeed regrettable. However, even if he could manage to sail it away, he had no place to park such a huge battleship, as it would draw too much attention.
Judy then activated the transmission platform to the outside world. Steve stepped onto the transmission platform and set the destination, which was located near the safe area.
Whoosh!
With a flash of light, Steve disappeared from the transmission platform. It appeared that Steve had benefited tremendously from this accident, and that it had also deeply affected his future...
...
At that moment, the town near the magical beast hunting ground had ended the magical beasts hunting convention early because of an accident. In fact, many students had already left with their parents.
However, there were still some people who had stayed behind. Among them, were the special police in charge of security. They were waiting outside, just in case any magical beasts rushed out. After all, although the beast tide had disappeared, there were still small magical beast riots that would break out occasionally.
At the gate of the hunting ground, a girl's figure had stood for three days without moving. She kept looking in the direction of the hunting ground.
For the entire three days, the girl had not rested once. She stood, waiting alert even at night, never sleeping. This made the policemen, who were guarding the entrance, as well as the school teachers, students, and parents sigh. They were filled with sympathy and sadness for her.
"It is said that Elizabeth's fiancé found out that the magical beast tide was caused by the demon Collic."
"In order to let the two women escape, Steve used himself as bait to deceive Collic. He is a real man!"
"He's also a hero! If he hadn't discovered the demon Collic's conspiracy and ended the beast tide, more people would have been killed and injured."
"What a pity! It's been three days already. Steve hasn't come back yet. I'm afraid he has..."
"Steve had killed two original beings by himself and even destroyed Collic's evil scheme. He's a real hero!"
As people looked at Elizabeth waiting for Steve, their hearts tugged and they exclaimed aloud, speculating about many things.
Specifically, most everyone knew that three days had already passed, and if Steve was still alive, he would have most likely been back already. As he had yet to return, this left them thinking that Steve had been killed by Collic!
Although these people had already gone up to comfort Elizabeth, she continued to wait there stubbornly. They believed she was truly in denial at this point.
"Elizabeth, please eat something." Selma came over with a bowl of hot broth and said, "Drink this to replenish your energy. You haven't had anything for three days."
Elizabeth's face was somewhat pale and her eyes were bloodshot. She looked haggard and very thin. If it were not for her strong physique, she would have collapsed after not eating, drinking, and resting for several days.
"I'm not hungry..." Elizabeth said absentmindedly.
"Look at yourself. If Steve comes back and sees you like this, he will be sad. Drink it quickly." Selma could not help but feel frustrated and feeling helpless.
In the past, she had always wanted to surpass Elizabeth and prove that she was stronger than her. But, after experiencing this last incident, both of their feelings towards each other had made great progress, leading to some healing in their relationship.
Selma was also very sad at the moments, as she had just met a man who made her heart flutter, but he had apparently died unexpectedly! These days, she secretly cried herself to sleep. So, it was not only Elizabeth's heart that was breaking.
"I don't want to eat," Elizabeth said, waving it away.
"Oh, Miss Elizabeth, please eat some." The chief constable Paul, who was beside her, said. "Mr. Steve has made a great contribution for this beast tide. We will remember his efforts. The government even intends to award him a first-class knight's badge."
This was indeed an honor, as a first-class knight's badge provided one with almost the same privileges as the knights of nobility!
Moreover, it was not easy to attain, as it could only be earned by one's making a great contribution to mankind.
Most nobles were usually conferred by the Ares Council, so even the lowest class of nobles needed tough strength to contribute to mankind, in order to inherit their nobility.
Of course, the difficulty of hereditary nobility was much simpler, and this was also a favor to the nobility. As such, because noble titles were difficult to obtain, some people took the route of making great contributions to mankind to attain their titles. Hence, the title of the Knight's Medal had appeared.
Although the Knight's Medal recipients had the same rights as the nobles in Stanlos Base Camp, the medal itself had no effect outside of Stanlos Base Camp. Basically, the knight's medal was only effective in the place where the medal was awarded. As such, if a recipient of it left the city where it had been awarded to them, no other cities would recognize it.
In fact, most of the nobles in many cities were medal recipients, which meant that they had nobility privileges in the cities they lived in, but their nobility titles were not issued by the Ares Council, so weren't recognized abroad.
In the eyes of civilians, there was no difference at all, yet there truly were great differences between the medaled nobility and the titled nobility.
Many of the nobles in Stanlos Base Camp were also medal nobility, and their nobility privileges had been issued by Stanlos Base Camp. In contrast, there were only a few members of nobility, whose nobility was issued by the Human Federation, which was a medal nobility title that could not be inherited. So, this titled nobility was the real deal, meaning that its influence was not limited to the Stanlos Base Camp.
Thus, the government's willingness to award Steve the First-Class Knight's Medal was a great honor that many level-one evolved beings had not yet received. But, no one objected to the honor, as Steve had saved a large number of students, who were the future of Stanlo Base Camp.
However, the main reason for this award was that the Stanlos Base Camp's government felt that Steve was already dead. In that case, they were planning to simply bury him with honor, not have to grant him any rights or rewards and privileges!
Regardless, Elizabeth had no interest in the first-class Knight's Medal or any other awards. She only wanted Steve to come back alive!
