The newly discovered primitive planet is a four-day flight from the Capital Planet, coupled with the four-day flight return, plus a week staying there; it all dded up to a total of half a month-long trip.

At the same time, in order to ensure the safety of the juniors, the President proposed that each family select one or two guardians-slash-supervisors to follow and protect them; as to prevent them in case of accidents and causing casualties. After discussion, the Chu family decided on sending Chu Rong.

After listening to the explanation, Gu Yan’an’s expression didn’t change for the better, but worsened. She frowned and said with anger in her voice, “Who in the entire Federation doesn’t know that your spiritual power is polluted and you can’t use it easily? The situation is complicated and changeable. If you are stimulated there and your spiritual power goes berserk, and you cannot get timely medical treatment, how dangerous the situation will be! Letting the juniors go is nothing more than a small hassle – it doesn’t matter much. But if something goes wrong with you, the strength of the Chu family will collapse by half! Tch. Their calculations are really blatant!”

Chu Yan, who had already calmed down a little, actually started getting angrier after hearing Gu Yan’an’s words. He almost jumped out righteously, full of irritation, “I wonder why the President is suddenly so kind, and agreed to let Erge go along. It turned out that he was expecting to catch a big fish with a small bait! Despicable! I don’t agree, let’s change it, Dage isn’t weak, let him go!”

“Only I can go,” Chu Rong replied, trying to fool Chu Yan and Gu Yan’an. His eyes were heavy, and he said in a cold voice, “This time the theme was promoted by Dage alone, so this kind of counterattack by the Xiang-Wei coalition has long been expected. Don’t worry, nothing will happen.”

As he spoke, he looked at Qiao Zhiya, who also looked very worried. Chu Rong suppressed the anxiety burgeoning inside his heart ever since the candidate was finalized, and reached out to use his communicator. He ruffled Qiao Zhiya’s hair gently, trying to soothe the youth, “They will not get what they want. Not even the tiniest bit. I swear.”

Whether it was a small fish or a big fish, no matter how many Chu family members went there, they all must come back hearty and hale. Nothing less was allowed.

Qiao Zhiya noticed his unstable mood. The youth looked up at Chu Rong, tilted his head and rubbed into Chu Rong’s palm, in search of comfort. He lowered his gaze, his mouth curled up into a pout. He knew that if Chu Rong wanted to go too, he would need to save his spiritual strength, and couldn’t use Qiao Zhiya’s healing or potions.

The matter was a foregone conclusion. Everyone calmed down after a while, and started to detail travel preparations.

Qiao Zhiya asked for a leave from Master Ren, and secretly hid in the room to fiddle with new potions. He was trying to get another layer of insurance for Chu Rong’s illness before the departure. Everyone just thought that he was making stone grass potions, which wasn’t dangerous, so they didn’t probe him further. However, Chu Rong reminded him not to make too much – one or two vials only – and instead save his energy to deal with the trip. Qiao Zhiya nodded and agreed obediently on the surface, but actually immediately put the words behind him when he went out to work.

Qiao Zhiya had one spiritual power soothing liquid per month given to him, which he had saved for more than half a year – occasionally Chu Rong would also give him extra. After he counted his savings, he already had as many as ten vials on his hand.

Considering that this was his first time using this kind of ingredient as a basis to make his potions, he was extra careful. He used his magic power to directly take out two purification liquids and put them aside for later use, then took out Qiuqiu and a few pots of plants. After repeatedly confirming that the plants were in tip-top conditions, he took out his father’s handbook and looked at the method of making intermediate-level potions recorded on it, and began to replenish his magic power.

These pots of plants were all found by him after he confirmed that the stone grass was indeed unique. He searched their identities through the illustrations in the Federation’s Plants Encyclopedia. He’s afraid that if these plants’ vitalities were low, their efficacy would also be low. With that low dosage, he’s afraid that he’ll instead help Chu Rong’s body to develop a drug resistance without actually curing anything – after all, such a thing was inevitable with prolonged drug usage.

It’s a pity that plants with strong magical power like stone grass were really rare. After searching for so long, he finally found some of them that did contain magical power, albeit lower than the stone grass’. few plants that contain a little bit more magic elements, such as stone grass, but none of them turn up.

But he was not without gains. The magical power in the stone grass were rich and highly active, but it didn’t have a good healing property. In contrast, some of the plants he found had the inverse of that, so it should be effective to be made into potions. He just needs a huge quantity of them.

This was also the reason why he didn’t start making potions immediately after finding these plants. The plants bought from the Federation were all grown sub-optimally, and the healing property was lost as a result. He had to grow them by himself, while showering them with his wood-elemental magical power.

And after saving for so long, the plants in his hand were only about enough to make an intermediate-level potion. So if it was successfully made, this potion could only be used in case of emergency, not for daily consumption.

After replenishing his magic power, he separated the plants’ parts in batches. Instead of using instruments to refine them, he did all of them with his magic power — this would ensure the healing properties weren’t lost, but in return, the speed would be sluggish.

Sure enough, it took him two whole mornings to just extract the plant’s essence, consuming a lot of wood-type magic stones to barely complete it. Fortunately, Chu Rong rewarded him after he made the secondary mutated red tin ore purification device. He had a lot of top-level jade. Otherwise, with his consumption rate, his stock of magic stones would have been used up long ago.

The day before departure, Qiao Zhiya spent another morning to complete the remaining preparations, and then ran back to the room early after dinner to do the final concocting.

Unlike making stone grass potion, which only needed one fusion of plant essence, this intermediate-level potion he tried to make used five different types of plants, on top of the spiritual power soothing medicine he used as a base. All in all, the fusion process was very complicated.

Thankfully,  it ran smoothly; until he actually tried to fuse the soothing medicine into the mix. His magic lower couldn’t help but want to absorb the said medicine.

The feeling of not being able to eat delicious food right in front of him was really bad. Fortunately, he was very self-aware and took out two bottles of purification liquid for backup to quench this temptation.

The finished potion was beautiful milky white, and it exuded a strong plant-like fragrance, which wafted all over the room. After Qiao Zhiya sealed the potion and put it away, he dealt with the pharmaceutical tools first. Sniffing the air, he felt distressed with the strong smell, so he ran up to open the window.

As soon as Chu Rong returned to the room, he smelled the strong fragrance of plants in the room. He paused, looked at the quilt on the bed, and heard Qiao Zhiya’s obviously awake breathing sound. He stepped forward and dug the Bald Chicken out of the quilt. With a frown, he asked, “What are you doing secretly in the room?”

The fragrance hadn’t faded yet, and Qiao Zhiya knew that he was in trouble. So he pretended to sleep in hope that Chu Rong would deal with it later. But seeing that he had been busted now, he directly tried to play it off. He rubbed against Chu Rong in a pleading manner, and dodged the question clumsily, “You are done with your work, when will you set off tomorrow?”

“At ten o’clock, set sail from the port of the military headquarters,” Chu Rong replied, not being fooled at all. He rubbed Qiao Zhiya’s blond bangs with narrowed eyes. Then, he reiterated his previous question, “Honestly, what are you hiding? Messing around again?”

Qiao Zhiya quickly waved his hands and shook his head to say no, then hesitated for a while. He took out Qiuqiu while saying, “Uhm… going to a primitive planet this time will definitely make me use Qiuqiu’s ability. So, I wanted to make it more energetic. For that, I fed it a little bit of my magic power, and it suddenly bloomed, making the room filled with the fragrance of flowers…”

Lying in the palm of his hand, the scapegoat-plant-ball called Qiuqiu twitched its vines. Under Chu Rong’s piercing gaze, it forced itself to bloom a small white flower.

Qiao Zhiya: “!!!”

Chu Rong glanced at him, his voice still thick with suspicion, “You seem to be more surprised than me that it does bloom.”

“Nope!” Qiao Zhiya quickly suppressed his surprise and tightened his hold on Qiuqiu, then replied, “I’m just a bit surprised that the flower’s color is white, because previously it was yellow. Yeah, isn’t it a bit strange?”

The plant ball froze again, then stretched out a vine that suddenly produced a yellow flower.

Qiao Zhiya: “…”

“It’s blooming, and it should still bear fruit,” Chu Rong looked down at the very suspicious plant ball.

Qiao Zhiya tried his best to suppress the urge to exclaim, so he lied bluntly, “Qiuqiu is a magical plant… It’s only natural that you can’t treat it with your common sense. It’s quite special, and no one has figured out how it species actually reproduces, so… so…. Uh….”

“Puchi.”

Qiuqiu entangled two flowering vines together, and from the place the flower touched, its petals suddenly fell, leaving behind two small fruits the size of mung beans. Though, rather than “fruits” it was more like a seed instead.

Qiao Zhiya stopped talking. He didn’t expect Qiuqiu to be able to add drama by itself so much.

Chu Rong also stopped talking. He retracted his gaze from staring at the plant ball, and instead focused on rubbing Qiao Zhiya’s bangs again. He admired the stupid look on the Bald Chicken’s face.

Truthfully, his moods these days were quite good. So he only mysteriously smiled, then went to the bathroom.

“Bang,” the bathroom door closed.

Qiao Zhiya came back to his senses, held Qiuqiu and the two “born” fruits, and was dumbfounded, “Qiu, Qiuqiu, what is this? It’s… your children?”

Qiuqiu rubbed its vine shyly. Then, the tip of the vine rolled up the seed and stretched it out in front of Qiao Zhiya, waving it as if asking for praise.

“…It turns out that you can still have children.” Qiao Zhiya took the two seeds and carefully put them away. He touched the plant ball for a daily long time, feeling a little guilty he put Qiuqiu in a tight spot like that.

Then, Qiao Zhiya had an epiphany.

“I’m sorry.”

–It turned out that Qiuqiu needed magic power to reproduce. He had been unable to feed it with magic power for more than ten years, so it didn’t accumulate enough power to breed offspring until this late. He felt guilty about that, too.

Reproduction was the instinct of plants, and Qiuqiu actually “gave birth” to two children after only feeding it with magic power for more than half a year. Still in this situation, it can be seen how malnourished it was for the past years.

Qiuqiu was able to sense Qiao Zhiya’s emotions. It rubbed its vine in order to comfort its master, hoping it would help make him happy.

Qiao Zhiya pursed his lips into a warm smile. He hugged the plant ball and shrank into the quilt, and played with it for quite some time.

Both Chu Rong and Qiao Zhiya slept very soundly that night, and the fragrance of plants condensed in the room was absorbed by them in their sleep, soothing their spiritual power and magic power. Little by little, the fragrance eventually dissipated into thin air.
