Sven scratches his chin, thinking, as he peruses the information presented in his AI System. He sits on one corner of the cafeteria eating his lunch at a slow pace. He reads text after text floating in front of him, the digital illusion only visible to his eyes allows him to freely read despite being in a public setting.

The AI System is a miraculous technology that has been bestowed on the executives of MI6. Its functions are mapping, analysis, appraisal, and lastly the System Shop… It also serves as a portable computer that can connect to the closest source of internet.

For security measures, the AI System does not have a built-in internet connection.

“900 CP,” Sven murmurs, a bit worried but excited. “That’s a lot, and the risk is real…”

The Human Dragon, Aileen, is a true Hero who has served as an inspiration to many, and a symbol of genuine heroism… Being recommended directly by the Hero Shin Myungchul to the Hero Association is but one of the few snippets of Aileen’s history. Aileen is a very powerful superhuman with a powerful Gift.

Sven realizes that the hardest part of the mission is not rescuing Aileen, but how to gain her trust. The information available states that there will be attackers sent to Aileen estimated to be two weeks from now. Preferably, Sven thinks he will have better chances if the attackers are strong enough to push Aileen into a more desperate situation.

This way, Sven’s team will have an easier time to cajole the Human Dragon to defect. Essentially, Sven’s mission objectives are to save Aileen from the threats that the Hero Association poses, meaning it is actually a bodyguard mission.

But Sven wants more CP. There is a secondary objective of the mission, while it is not the main priority, Sven will never shy away from more SP. “If I manage to recruit the Human Dragon to our fold, then that is an extra 500 CP.”

Sven manipulates his System Interface mentally and switches to the System Shop. His eyes land on the most expensive good as of late, a ‘Ticket for a Time Dilation Chamber’, which is truly broken.

For a period of time, Sven has been crushed by his sense of inferiority. Back in Germany, he is quite a hotshot himself, but after arriving in Cube, he realizes how small he actually is… and then those things happen. The Djinn Attack. The disappearances. He is honestly terrified… and super-duper envious…

The reason why Sven wants more strength now more than ever is because he wants to be kidnapped! Though his character has improved a bit, there is still this narcissistic part of him that wishes to attract attention. He is not always narcissistic, as this is more of a self-defense mechanism on his part against his inferiority complex.

Sven can still recall that time when he almost succumbs to his inferiority complex and becomes a Djinn. Thankfully, he is able to rein his sense of inferiority, or else, he would have been ash already! The DDT really has changed a lot of the power balance in the world.

As he muses on the current world affair, he feels a ping on his AI System. Sven checks up on it and sees that there is additional information for his mission.

Sven drops his spoon on his plate with his mouth open in shock. The additional information sends Sven into a panic. It appears, that his organization has found out who are the ‘attackers’ that the Hero Association has hired— the Hassassin!

The Hassassin is the most dangerous assassin organization out there said to never leave a trace after a kill. The only reason Sven knows of them is because of the Executive Exams. Before Sven becomes a true executive of MI6 both in name and spirit, he has to pass this exam first.

Among the learning materials given to him are highly classified information about all sorts of things around the world, and information about the Hassassin has told him how frighteningly dangerous they are.

Sven stands up and moves on his way to find Eliza.

Eliza is his liaison to MI6’s upper brass. Sven hopes for the mission objectives to change, or for him to just drop the mission outright. Though he has not fought a Hassassin and has yet to see what they are capable of, Sven is highly confident in the information that MI6 possesses.

There is a rule within MI6 to never contact the liaison via electronic devices or wire, so Sven has to physically come to Eliza. Shortly after, Sven finds Eliza in her classroom. Sven and she are from different classes, so the other Cube Cadets are not able to recognize him… which kind of makes him feel dull.

His childish thoughts aside, he comes to Eliza, “Hey, we need to talk…”

“Boyfriend?” Eliza’s seatmate jokingly asks.

“Yeah, definitely, hehehe,” Another Cadet chimes in, conspiratorially. “Wow, our bro-con is growing up…”

And then another cadet begins hooting, which raises chaos in the classroom. Eliza seems unabashed, and almost unmoved, but Sven thinks he just saw a hint of anger. Unknown to all those cheering, Eliza is certainly angry.

“Go,” Eliza sternly tells Sven, “We’ll talk later.”

“Oooh…” The Cube Cadets make a ruckus while Sven leaves through the door, weirded by the turn of events, but still tense at the development of his mission.

Sven attends his own class, his thoughts running in the background… He imagines that to increase the mission’s chance of success, they will have better odds if they inform Aileen in advance, while at it, gaining her cooperation. After hours of idle listening to the class lecture, Sven goes on his way to the library.

Eliza is already there, waiting.

“Hey there,” Sven greets her amiably, “So, about the mission?”

Eliza begins with a smile, and with a pulse of her magic power, she creates a barrier via her wind elementalism to contain their conversation.

“Change of plans, it is no longer an MI6 job, but a Merc Job. Contribution Points are still the same. Your team will act as support. I will send you more information later…” Eliza then proceeds to explain with the more delicate specifics. “Increase your team to seven. All have to be at the executive level with high survivability. Like I said, I will send more information later.”

Sven has already seated at this point two chairs away from Eliza.

“So a Merc Job? Who is the client?” Sven asks out of common sense, he feels like there is more to the job, and while he is just a minion despite the executive label, he is not one to blindly follow what others tell him anymore like the alluring words that a certain Djinn once whispered to him.

Eliza answers rather cryptically, “The client is MI6.”

Sven is confused, “Huh? Isn’t that kind of roundabout? Why go to too much trouble?”

“Because this job is out of the books,” Eliza answers truthfully, “The organization will not take any responsibility in case you fail and die. I suggest you form a team outside of European descent, though with you leading that order might seem contradictory, still, it is better than nothing… It sounds dangerous because it is, but I think you can trust me that your team will be in safe hands. You will still lead your own team, Sven. The person you will be assisting won’t give you orders, but he will act independently. You are free to ditch him if the situation calls for it, but you must secure the package if that happens.”

The package? The Human Dragon?

“So kidnapping, huh?” Sven is honestly flabbergasted. It appears the mission details have been wholly remade. “And a Hero of that caliber?”

“Your team won’t be doing the kidnapping… Your mission is to assist the kidnapping, escort, and protect, so it is still bodyguard duty. The Hero Association seems to be very determined to get rid of the Human Dragon. We still don’t know what motivates them.” Eliza explains in a matter-of-fact tone.

“Uumm…” Sven is hesitant, but he might as well bite. “There is a lot of uncertainty, so can you increase the CP reward? I really want that ticket for the Time Dilation Chamber.”

“You are right, there are a lot of uncertainty… Here, I just sent 500 CP in advance. Now, you have a total of 2,200 CP which is enough for one use of the Time Dilation Chamber. Use it, and get stronger. You will receive 900 CP upon completion of the mission.” Eliza unfeelingly stands up and is about to leave.

Sven is speechless as he checks up on his CP balance.

Before Eliza can truly vanish, she warns him. “Remember, you don’t negotiate with me. I will let this time slide, but never a repeat again.”
