Kim Hajin lowers his gun. This is too much even for him. “I am sorry.” The paranoia is unwelcome. There is no way Hyon Hyung is involved with the changes, he convinces himself. “Forget about it.” He adds while he turns around eager to escape the awkward situation he put himself into.

But Hyon Hyung takes one step further and confronts him. “What is that all about? If you think you can escape that easily, then I am sorry, we need to talk…”

***

I sigh a breath of relief at Hajin lowering his gun. That’s pretty dangerous.

Still, there is an opportunity to grab here. I am thinking that I might as well embrace the suspicion. As a temporary friend, my connection with Hajin is not as thick as I might think. Maybe, I can expose him to my truth little by little. Someday, I can tell him my origin, and then together, maybe we can find allies in each of us.

“It got me thinking pretty hard lately. 'Hero-work' is very dangerous.”

The two of us share a table at a café. I drink my Americano while I lead the conversation.

“So I understand you being high-strung and pointing your gun at me. I won’t ask you why. But just hear me out…”

I can taste the mix of bitterness and sweetness of my coffee. Hajin similarly sips on his latte, hearing my words in passive interest. This is a valuable opportunity for me, and I hope Hajin bites.

“I am thinking of a different future career path, while still taking advantage of my Hero License. Hajin, what do you say about becoming my first client?”

Hajin raises an eyebrow as he finds my offer to be too sudden. I continue.

“I plan on avoiding the frontlines as much as possible in the future, so I am thinking of setting up a firm. I plan to become a professional image manager to promote heroes and guard their popularity…”

I am planning for this since the very beginning. I don’t even know if such a job exists, but my imagination is limitless. After turning left and right on my bed, and brainstorming on ways how to get close to Hajin, I finally decide on this weird job.

Hajin is silent, and it has him thinking hard. Of course, he will.

There is no way, he will not feel the temptation of having a manager. After all, the more popular Hajin becomes, the more SP he gets, and the more powerful he can become.

The moment I see the hesitation in his eyes, I immediately go for the offense, unwilling to let him go. “My job will be setting up multiple social media accounts for you, advising you on ways to improve your image, and me becoming your errand boy. I already have a rough contract prepared. We can discuss it now, and I am open to amending it as you like.”

Hajin accepts my rough contract and begins reading it with interest. “Why me?” He asks. “Why not Suho? I understand you are close to him. Moreover, 2 million won monthly… Hmmm…”

Why? Is two million won monthly too much? Or too less?

I quickly explain to him why I am picking him. “At first, I am thinking of picking Suho as a client. I changed my mind because I believe that I will have more clout after I make you famous… Come on, an Extra suddenly gaining a name… now that is one hell of an achievement. Imagine the number of heroes willing to get popular. After graduating, I will be setting up my firm, and be swimming on money all-time high in a matter of weeks.”

Hajin then decides to sign the contract, feeling that it is in his best interest. Also, there will not be much of a loss to him as two million won a month will be a chump change for him with his wealth of knowledge of the future. I envy that part of him. I know the future too, but not as much as him

I smile and shake hands with Hajin. Oh my~ I will certainly help you Hajin on becoming more popular so that you can earn more SP. In the future, I will cash in this favor, and have you use the SP for my sake… Hopefully, when that time comes, he will kindly lend me his Setting Intervention.

***

It is a steal. Two million won is too cheap for Hajin. He knows that Hyon Hyung’s sense of money is bad, but he did not realize it is this bad. “I am sorry, but your future as a businessman is bleak…” That aside, the reason he is accepting the contract is not simply because he will have a helper in earning SP.

Hajin’s eyes land on the particular clause where it is implicitly saying that Hyon Hyung will not disclose the privacy of his client and will do as the client is requesting regardless of gain or loss. Basically, Hyon Hyung is volunteering to become his errand boy.

“I have a shuttle now… I should treat him better in the future…” Hajin feels pity for Hyon Hyung for a moment. He feels bad for suddenly pointing his gun at Hyung just a while ago.

Still, having an unconditional errand boy will be a great help for him in the future. Moreover, it seems that Hyon Hyung’s combat ability is not so bad he will become a burden.

“I am sorry for suddenly pointing a gun at you.” He apologizes once more, trying to express his sincerity on his senseless aggressiveness.

In Hajin’s defense, he is becoming especially tense lately. The sense of insecurity is eating away at him, and being weak is not a welcome experience for him.

“Hey, Hajin… What do you think of changing hair color?” Hyon Hyung abruptly comes up with the topic.

“Huh?” Hajin is feeling a different kind of dread too suddenly. “Why? What is the problem with my hair? I like my hair now. So what is up with changing hair color?”

Hyon Hyung grins naughtily while he hides the contract away. “Hey, Hajin… Do you have a favorite color?

The Tower of Hero— a Hero Association headquarters in the heart of Seoul. On the 103rd floor, Yun Seung-Ah reads the reports on the recent incident and watches a video filmed by the museum’s camera. Naturally, it contains the battle between Cube’s cadets and a djinn.

If it is not for the Association requesting the Guild’s help, then she will have to sneak her way in.

“A trace of light attribute mana was found at the scene.”

Yun Seung-Ah is someone who pays a lot of attention to the importance of attributes.

Light attribute mana is very special in particular as it is an attribute that naturally counters Djinns. Not only is it rare, but also extremely valuable. Light attribute heroes play a vital role in suppressing Djinns who possess the darkness attribute.

“This person… Kim Hajin, isn't it?” She is not expecting it, but a rather interesting young man catches her sight. Ordinary, and even dull, but possesses a strategic mind that doesn’t fall short of the best. The way he positions himself, and desperately saves his comrade is especially noteworthy.

It is disappointing that he uses a gun though as such a weapon’s potential is limited. But the fact alone that he can wield the light-attribute bullets makes him special.

The gun explodes as he fires a brilliant white light dyeing the surroundings with its color. The camera freezes for 3 seconds because of the light. Everything settles down by the time the screen returns.

“We can exclude him from the suspect list. A Djinn cannot wield light-attribute abilities. Since the Association requested that we investigate the little Heroes first, we shall do it… To be honest, this is distasteful…”

Yun Seung-Ah throws a jab at the Association’s thinking process. Why do they suspect these cute little kids? No matter how disagreeing she is, she has to do her job properly.

However, that is not all there is to her coming here. When other guilds are sending representatives to investigate on their behalf, the Vice-Leader of Creator’s Sacred Grace, Yun Seung-Ah herself, decides to be here on her own accord. In a sense, she is the Guild Leader’s representative.

From the beginning, she is showing strong interest in the current Cube Cadets, thus, her appearing at Cubes’s unofficial meeting instead of her Guild Leader. “Kim Suho, Yoo Yoenha, and Kim Hajin… They are excluded from the lists of suspects.” She declares while her memory of the interrogation flash in her mind.

“Hmmm… Now, we only have Hyon Hyung… After we check him out from the list of suspects, we proceed with what we are doing here. If there are really Djinns within Cube, we must uproot them immediately.”

***

I proceed as usual in my everyday life. Training, Lectures, and now, nagging Hajin on the Art of being an Attention Whore. I value my time greatly, but with the correct time management, I believe I can get past all of this hardship. That aside, looks like we will be having a Labyrinth Exploration in Combat Training this Tuesday.

Tomorrow will be quite hectic as my body is still hurting, despite all of the healing that I am going through. While I busy myself with self-improvement, my mind keeps on wandering to Chae Nayun.

It is safe to think of her as the main protagonist currently. If this world is a novel, won’t its title will be something like [The Novel’s Regressor]? I must keep watch on her naughty ass. I hope there is a way to control that idiot.

Sigh…

Thankfully, not in a bad way, she is still in hospital.
