“Oki oki oki! Calm your knockers down, you dumbasses!” I lightly jump to the side while a whiplashing tongue almost connects to my leg. “Oi, that’s cheating! Fight fair and square! Bastards!” I duck low and clean to dodge the Djinn that just tosses me a mind-controlled cadet.

I don’t even know how exactly they get themselves mind-controlled, but they are one annoying cannon fodder. I will love to engage them aggressively and show off my upgraded powers, but I have to play it smart.

Tussling with the six suspected intermediate-rank Djinns will not be conducive to my health.

In this situation, the only thing I can really do is run!

“Human, come here!” A scrawny perverted midget with a long tongue eagerly comes rushing at me.

I look back and see three pursuers. I label them in my head as Licky, Muscly, and Smiley in recognition of their unique physical characteristics. I reassess my situation hoping for a chance to retaliate. I circulate the Great Sage’s breathing method allowing me to suck in the magic power from the atmosphere.

[Target lock: labeled pursuers as licky, muscly, and smiley.]

Yeah, thanks Cube. That will help a lot. Even without looking at them, I will be able to easily discern who is blindsiding me with the beautiful nicknames I give them. Moreover, it really gets confusing when there are so many enemies.

“What are the other Djinns doing? Are they camping in the Detention Center?”

[Three Djinns are attacking the Detention Center. The durability rate of the door is at 99%.]

That is so smart of them. I must make a circle around, and harass them. I must buy the team enough time to kill the Devil’s Seed.

[Durability rate of the door is at 90%]

For a moment, I get distracted.

[Licky coming at your 7 o’clock with a tongue projectile.]

I duck once more, stumbling to the stairs upwards. I feel the whooshing of air above me. A small amount of saliva drips on my cheeks, causing a slight itchy sensation on them. “Cube, please remind me that Licky seems to have acidic-based powers.”

[Noted.]

The CCTV cameras around Cube are helping me a lot as an extra set of eyes for me. “How about the other three Djinns? What are they doing?”

[They are trying to pry the Detention Center’s door open.]

“Give your full support to Suho, Hajin, and Nayun. Suho will be able to kill the foe, so help him gain opportunities.” I add to Cube turning the three-on-one fight into a four VS one.

[Smiley can phase through walls, and has some level of invisibility of camouflage type. From your left, he is waiting in ambush.]

I tense my calves. This smiley guy is fast, for him to maneuver this far and wait for me in ambush. I applaud his efforts, but for me, this is an opportunity. This is a chance to whittle them down. “Can you see him? Let me see him!”

[Affirmative. Integrating neural connection to the Data Bank and Internal AI calculating ability.]

I feel my head hurting.

[Nerve Synchronization is at 23%. Maintaining Perfect Neural Connection with the System can only last for (50) fifty seconds.]

That will do.

I run forward as if I don’t even know someone is barring my way. I see zeroes and ones which are nuts. The more physical representation that Smiley is actually in front of me is the vaguely discernible shadow that appears between microseconds at the slight shifting of the sunlight from outside, and the slight movement of the Djinn itself.

Smiley is wielding a katana, and it seems to be a relic with some history to it. I activate [Not Here] and activate [Always Here] making my invisibility so much more superior to Smiley.

~Slash~

My [Wolf Fang] accurately connects to his throat causing black blood to spill, and the Djinn turning to ash. I deactivate [Not Here] to conserve magic power while I maintain [Always Here] to hide in plain sight among the mind-controlled cadets. They really suck at detecting things.

I stop the Perfect Neural Connection with the System even if it is not fifty seconds yet as it eats too much of my mental energy.

I continue running forward while using the Great Sage’s breathing method as much as possible to replenish my magic power.  I see that no one is chasing me anymore.

“Out of my way!” I kick the mind-controlled cadet crowding in front of me.

[Durability rate of the door is at 82%]

I want to circle around and harass the bunch of Djinns trying to pry the Detention Center’s door open. “What is happening now? Inform me.”

Cube directly shows me what is happening through the System’s Interface connecting to the outside of the Detention Center. The Djinns are suing landmines, and attaching them to the door to break it open.

The CCTV camera the System Interface is using seems to have been destroyed as it turns black.

[Durability rate of the Door is at 71%. They are using anti-tank landmines. It is as good as anti-bunker explosives.]

“Any suggestions?”

[Kill them.]

Sigh… Yeah if it is so easy. “So, how?”

[Fight them.]

Sometimes, I feel that Cube is too dumb for her own good. I recall, doesn’t she have the Great Sage’s shard of wisdom or something? “Don’t you have any homing missiles to accurately smash them? Maybe you have super drones or battle robots from the resources underground? Show me some True Cube Technology!”

[Apologies. True Cube Tech is focused on self-improvement. You need an 80% Nerve Synchronization Rate or above, and S-Authority-Level to gain access to the more combative technology.]

“Great help!” I murmur.

“FOUND YOU!” A strong rumbling voice echoes from above me.

I am about to descend the stairs to circle the other three Djinns, but Muscly is waiting just right above me. He jumps off the stairs with ferocity. He seems to have a weight-increasing ability as he destroys the railings from the stairs while he descends at an increasing momentum.

“Fucker,” I cannot even use my favorite trick to mess up with his aim. Even going invisible will not help me. “You want to die, then fucking die.”

I cannot even run away from the stairs, and make haste to the hallway. I churn my magic power while enveloping it in my feet and arms. “Activate it!”

[Activating Perfect Neural Connection!]

I shout as if to cheer myself up. “I am the Chosen One!” I lean back Neo-style, except being in the matrix, I am doing it on reality. I let gravity take claim of me as I jump backward from the stairs. I then activate and deactivate [Not Here] while I deactivate [Always Here] to leave an afterimage to confuse Muscly.

[Perfect Neural Connection! 42 seconds left!]

It is only the second floor to the first floor, so I should be able to endure this as my physique is at least approaching the average level of a Cube Cadet. I throw my dagger at Muscly.

[Perfect Neural Connection! 40 seconds left!]

I turn around facing the ground and make a dive. I see Zeroes and Ones in a literal sense, and areas where I should move. I kick my left leg on the spot as per my AI determined. My foot connects to the stairs railings, propelling me faster to the ground. I see another spot where my AI is telling me to kick. I barely reach it, but it is not wasted as I fall down faster.

[Perfect Neural Connection! 29 seconds left!]

When I meet the ground, I use my arms to soften the impact and roll on the ground in Assassin Creed’s style. I feel my arms hurting, but my magic power is able to protect it enough from breaking.

I come to a forceful halt as I place my foot on the side.

[Your left foot is sprained.]

[Perfect Neural Connection! 21 seconds left!]

“That weight should be able to kill you from the crash. If not kill you, then it will immobilize you.” I realize this the moment I finish my series of maneuvers, thus I act on my hypothesis. I recall the dagger connecting to Muscly’s left eye.

I strain my eyes and see Muscly come down in slow motion headfirst.

Muscly seems to be paralyzed by Nightmare from the effects of [Wolf Fang].

I pounce on him from his blind side with unprecedented speed, perhaps my Perfect Neural Connection helping me is optimizing my physical abilities thus my better performance.

I punch the already embedded [Wolf Fang] from Muscly’s eye, having it dig deeper into his skull until it reaches his brain. As Muscly crashes down to the ground with a boom, he then turns to an explosion of ash.

[Perfect Neural Connection! 8 seconds left!]

From my rear comes the sudden ambushing Licky.

[Note. Licky has acidic abilities.]

Licky spits a sizable amount of acidic saliva. I see him clearly from my peripheral vision. I am quite proud of my peripheral vision, but with Perfect Neural Connection, I can see so much more.

I toss my [Wolf Fang] on the acidic blob of spit, while I roll backward, and swiftly kick the walls to elevate me far from the acidic spit’s range. I cleanly land on the sizzling concrete with the remnants of the acidic spit. I feel a shudder on my knees from the impact.

[Perfect Neural Connection! 1 second left!]

I see Licky choking on my thrown [Wolf Fang]. The dagger is stuck in his throat from his open mouth. Blood spills from his neck, and open mouth. The lickety spitty midget Djinn is choking on his own blood and acidic saliva.

[Deactivating Perfect Neural Connection!]

I feel my head burn, and it hurts. I am on the brink of fainting, but the burning acid from my feet wakes me up with scorching pain. My shoes are thoroughly destroyed. I walk to Licky, grab the wet slightly acidic dagger, twist it, and pull it.

Licky finally turns to ash like all Djinns do when they die.

“I guess… there is still round two…”

I get rid of my shoes whose soles have been burned through by the acidic saliva on the concrete floor. I then wear Licky’s shoes as a temporary measure. I move a step forward only to trip on my own feet as Sequela of the Perfect Nerve Connection kicks in.

I faint for a moment.
