Gray Fur was not placed on trial because he had quietly left before Ethan’s spaceship landed.

When Ethan was in the Ophiuchus Alliance previously, Ethan had guessed that there was someone from the Ophiuchus Alliance on Earth who knew everything about the situation in the Forbidden City. That was why they could accurately intercept Chen Zeng, who was on his way to be secretly executed, and they even clearly understood his situation. The spy had to be someone who could enter and exit the Forbidden City frequently. Now, it seemed that this spy was mostly Vasilev.

Everything made sense now. Why did Vasiliev deliberately want to get rid of Schneider? Because he needed to become the king of the Forbidden City to cultivate Chen Zeng’s power. This was the Ophiuchus Alliance’s scheme. They supported Chen Zeng and his Lord Grace’s Association and caused the people’s trust in the Earth Union government to waver. People were animals that were easily influenced and brainwashed. As long as they feared the “doomsday” that would arrive soon, they could use Ethan to deepen their fear and confirm the so-called doomsday prophecy. This way, Chen Zeng’s prophecy would really come true.

The anger of being used burned deep in Ethan’s heart. He looked at the nonhumans in front of him who were trembling and reporting the news of Vasilev’s disappearance to him. The Alpha who had once bossed him around was quivering. Many of the people around him who were now afraid of him because of his prowess kept their heads lowered and did not dare to talk. Many of them had made fun of him and even beat him after Samuel and Schneider had fallen from grace, but now they all look like weaklings.

Chen Zeng walked to him and said in a gentle tone, “Don’t worry. If you really think he is guilty, then we will find him for you. However, right now, we have bigger problems.”

Ethan glanced at him.

“I just got the news that the Earth Union army has surrounded Earth. The reason why we were able to return to the Earth so smoothly previously was probably their trap. They wanted to kill everyone in the Forbidden City after I returned to Earth.”

After he said this, there was an uproar. Although the guards who joined the Lord Grace’s Association could still find a lot of weapons in the guard’s hall in the Forbidden City, they were still too weak to face the entire Earth Union’s army.

Ethan chuckled. “Don’t you think that all of you deserve to die?”

“We sincerely and truly want to serve God!” a very old-looking Beta cried out in fear, “I’m confessing my sins every day, asking the Great Evil God to forgive us for being misguided lambs! I will spend the rest of my life preaching about the grace of the Great Evil God!”

Many people followed suit, kneeling down to Ethan and begging him to save their lives. It was as though as long as the tall but not strong-looking Beta in front of them was willing, they would not die under the guns of the government. It was as if they thought that as long as they believed in Ethan, Ethan would save them.

“What about the Ophiuchus Alliance? Aren’t they going to help you?” Ethan ignored those who prayed to him and simply looked at Chen Zeng.

Chen Zeng said in a low voice, “Even Vasiliev has withdrawn now. And, the relationship between the Ophiuchus Alliance and Earth Union seems to have changed recently.”

“Hmph, perhaps I know why.” Ethan recalled the prowess he showed in the Ophiuchus Alliance. Roland deliberately tried to kill him, but he wasn’t able to. In the end, he had to throw him back to the Earth Union. Now, it seemed that the Ophiuchus Alliance was probably aware of how dangerous Ethan was. He could destroy the Earth Union, the Ophiuchus Alliance, the Third Empire, and even the galaxy. As long as he lived and spread those terrible plagues, every planetary state would experience the tragedy unfolding in the Earth Union.

Moreover, the second laws of the parallel universe and the terrifying Goddess of Fertility on Red Earth all seemed to imply that there were indeed some super intelligent beings that were way stronger than any civilization in the galaxy. With Ethan’s emergence, such superintelligence would only encroach nearer and nearer to the Milky Way.

What could unite people was not a common idea but a common enemy.

And the enemy was Ethan and all of his “subjects.”

If they wanted to come and kill him, then let them. Ethan was not afraid. He didn’t want to protect the so-called believers surrounding him. However, he had many things he had to accomplish. If he acted alone, it would be very tough for him to get things done.

“If you want me to help all of you, then promise me,” Ethan said to Chen Zeng coldly, “Don’t intrude on the lives of Samuel and his father, ever.”

Chen Zeng looked at him with some sort of sincerity and serenity in his eyes. “I promise.”

However, Ethan decided to let everyone leave the Forbidden City with him. There were still 1000 people alive, but the number of vehicles in the city was far from enough, so they prepared enough water and dry food and planned to trek through the endless desert surrounding the Forbidden City with Ethan.

On the day of departure, Chen Zeng voluntarily gave up taking the last few UAVs in the Forbidden City and walked across the desert with all the other believers. His decision moved many believers to tears. They wrapped themselves tightly to protect their skin from the intense ultraviolet rays and formed a long line, much like a strand of hair winding amid the scorched sand sea.

Ethan and Chen Zeng were walking in the front of the procession. The hot sun above their heads glared down on them severely, quickly sucking up the water in their bodies. Chen Zeng was older than Ethan, but his physical strength was obviously not as good as him. As time passed, he seemed to be struggling to trudge forward, and his clothes were soaked with sweat. However, he had amazing willpower and never uttered that he was tired. Instead, he expressed concern and encouraged a few people around him who seemed to be nonhumans that he trusted.

Ethan couldn’t help admiring him.

After three days of walking, they had yet to see a shadow of any city around them. The desert seemed to be wider than the previous time he escaped, and the ruins of some of the old cities were half-buried in sand dunes, almost invisible. At night, they rested in front of the wreckage of several collapsed abandoned buildings, and the dark blue sky covered everything. Other than the sand floating in the skies, there was only heaven and earth. They sat silently under the light orange glow of the heating stone.

In the desert, the temperature difference between night and day was so great that even if you wrapped yourself with all the blankets around you, you would still be shivering from the cold. Some believers begin to waver, as they don’t trust Ethan’s plan. Although they knew that if they stayed in the Forbidden City, they would be likely encircled by the Earth Union’s army, they did not want to escape out of the city into this no longer safe and beautiful world.

At least in the Forbidden City, they were familiar with every brick and tile. They knew how to grow food and how to build fortifications to keep all the infected people away. But outside, they had nothing.

Although no one complained loudly, scattered murmurs could be heard.

Ethan could smell their changing scent, but he didn’t care. He listened to the occasional cough in the wilderness, looked at the distant stars in the sky, and his eyes were dry.

“Do we look like the biblical group of Jews led by Moses crossed the desert while fleeing Egypt?” Chen Zeng quietly approached him and asked.

Ethan didn’t respond as if he hadn’t heard him.

“It seems that you have not eaten?” There seemed to be some worry in Chen Zeng’s voice.

“I have no appetite,” Ethan replied shortly.

In fact, he was a little hungry, but ordinary food didn’t seem to satisfy him. This was one of the changes that had taken place since he entered adulthood.

“By the way, there seems to be new information about the former director of the Energy Bureau,” Chen Zeng said, holding up an old communication device in his hand, “It seems that the Ninth Space Station has discovered a spaceship leaving the isolation area of the Tenth Space Station and heading towards Earth.”

Ethan didn’t show any joy. He just said, “I have something to do. Don’t follow me.” After casting out these words, he left the camp alone.

Of course, Chen Zeng would not let him leave alone. He immediately sent five nonhumans that he trusted to follow him from afar.

Ethan climbed up a sand dune that appeared like the back of a vertebrae and stood on top of it. He looked around, then stood up and closed his eyes.

He plunged his consciousness into deep silence. It was so quiet that he could hear the murmuring of gravel in the dark. He whispered, “Are you still here, young Rafael?”

After about five minutes, a gentle smile gradually appeared on his face.

In the camp that was located at the other side of the sand dune, someone felt thunder rolling through the ground, and the earth trembled, booming with a terrifying noise. The nonhumans were all afraid and looked to their left and right. They turned their gazes to Chen Zeng one after another, but Chen Zeng just told everyone to be calm. At the same time, he used the communicator to get in touch with the five other nonhumans who were monitoring Ethan.

“What happened?”

“He stood alone on the sand dune, staying immobile. We have no idea what he’s doing.”

“Did he do anything abnormal?”

“He didn’t do anything much…… It’s just that I heard some strange sound under the ground just now, and there seems to be a lot of sand rolling down on the sand dune…… Ah!!! Oh, my God!!! What the hell is that!!!!!!”

The original calm narration suddenly turned into a scream of fear, which made Chen Zeng shudder.

“What’s the matter! What the hell happened!” Chen Zeng murmured in a strong and steady voice. He had to suppress his anxiety so that the other believers would not discover how scared he was.

“That’s……what’s that……is that a bug? God, I’ve never seen one so large……” The man suddenly cried out, “We have to run! Now!”

Before the eyes of the people who were sent to monitor Ethan, a huge dark gray cylindrical creature shot out. It was the size of a subway train, and it rose from the slopes of the sand dune and shook its huge front end that was constantly opening and closing under the flying sand. In the open mouth was a ring of nightmarish, leech-like teeth, just like a meat grinder. The slimy liquid dripped from the disgusting shrinking and opening mouth. It was so terrifying, but it emitted a baby-like cheerful cry.

In front of the gigantic worm, Ethan was extremely calm. Ethan reached out and touched its wrinkled skin.

“Let me take a look at you. You’re old enough to have a wife now.” Ethan smiled and patted little Rafael on the head.

He purred intimately, and his big mouth sucked onto Ethan’s entire hand before spitting it out, making his hand wet. Ethan shook his head helplessly and said softly, “We still need to find more companions. They are insects too, but unfortunately, they are not like you. I’m sorry, but you may find it difficult to find a partner in your life.”

Little Rafael didn’t seem to care and still kept making sounds like babies spitting out bubbles.

This strange scene caused the other five people monitoring him to no longer care about watching him. They rushed back to the camp, shouting, “Run away!!! It’s a monster!!! It’s a monster!!!”

An uproar occurred within the crowd since they were already frightened by the terrifying thunder-like sound they had just heard. A few brave Alphas who could still be considered calm asked what they saw.

But before they could answer, some of them screamed.

In the dark twilight, a huge moving shadow slowly emerged. The rough body crawled over the sand and surged forward like a tsunami. The nonhumans screamed and got up to run away, but there was nowhere for them to escape to. The gigantic worm approached them, sweeping everything around like dead leaves. It was ancient yet powerful.

The light gradually illuminated the worm. The giant worm had no facial features and only had a front end, which was its mouth. It appeared under the orange light of thousands of heating stones. However, the giant worm stopped a few meters away from the camp, and they saw that the man sitting on its head was Ethan.

Seeing Ethan, many nonhumans were stunned. Ethan got up, stepping on the folds of the worm as he jumped from the top of his head and stood firmly on the ground.

“Don’t worry.” Ethan said to the paralyzed nonhumans, “He won’t eat any of you without my command.”

Chen Zeng wanted to approach, but he didn’t dare to get too close to the giant worm. He had heard about the might of these male giant worms on Pales. They were huge and cruel, but this one looked surprisingly docile and didn’t respond to his approach.

Many of the nonhumans who had participated in the Pales mission knew how terrifying the worm was. They didn’t believe Ethan’s words and exclaimed, “Impossible! This thing eats people! It will eat us all!”

“Be quiet!” Chen Zeng suddenly shouted out in a dignified voice, and the scene suddenly quieted down. He looked at Ethan. “Why is the worm from Pales here?”

“I brought him back,” Ethan said with a cold smile, “But it was your people who hatched it.”

Chen Zeng didn’t seem to understand what he was implying, but Ethan was too lazy to explain. Now, he could feel that the nonhumans trusted Chen Zeng more than anybody else. Although they said that they regard him as the messenger of the Great Evil God, in fact, they only regarded him as a terrifying and invincible monster in their hearts. Their respect for him stemmed solely from fear, from the instinctive fear of creatures that were comparatively more powerful than them.

However, this was only temporary. The infection had begun to spread, and more and more people were coughing. These people were trying to suppress their symptoms, as they did not want to be found out by others. After all, currently, once the others found that they were sick, they would be abandoned by the team in this desert and would have to die alone.

As Ethan had hoped, this new parasite eroded and transformed the infected person’s body more slowly and laid its eggs in the infected person’s respiratory system, where they floated in the air when the person coughed. Ethan could smell the greasy, putrid smell that gradually spilled from those people. It was the same smell that emitted from those humanoid worms.

As long as they became creatures like him, they were no longer enemies.

He would transform the universe bit by bit, sowing the seeds of chaos everywhere where there were humans.

Ethan told Chen Zeng, “I’m different from you. All the worms and infected people are my companions. They won’t attack you. If you don’t want to leave with me, then I have no objection to that.”

Chen Zeng looked at the behemoth behind Ethan in a daze and finally sighed. “This is a miracle…… The killing machine that existed in hell surrendered to you. You are truly the messenger of God!”

With that, he knelt down in front of Ethan.

When he did this, many nonhumans followed suit. The scene was filled with an atmosphere of religious piety. Ethan merely thought it was hilarious.

But now, with Rafael, at least they could move faster.

He would gather all the infected people on Earth, as well as those who arrived on Earth via the Seventh Space Station. Then, he would have his own army.

At that time, he would use this army to search every corner of the galaxy to find the man in black.

He didn’t care if the man was a god older than Earth itself, and he didn’t care what horrifying methods he would have to use. He didn’t care if the man was his real father. Ethan wanted him to keep his promise.

That was because that man said that as long as he accepted fate, he could have Tanisiel and have everything.
