Chapter 221 – Dense Fog and Gurgling Stream

The Second Young Master left White Night Paradise and emerged from the Luo River, originally intending to only do some cautious searching. But after discovering that there were no auras above the Divine Core stage, he no longer hid his appearance. He transformed back to his demonic form and swept his senses outward without reserve.

Sure enough, he discovered some vestiges of Bai Yingxiu’s aura from not too long ago. He immediately hopped on a nimbus cloud and flew in that direction.

Upon arriving, the nimbus cloud faded, and the water serpent demon once more transformed into a black-clothed youth wearing a purple jade crown. He flew down from the billowing nimbus cloud, eyeing Xu Disheng with a sharp and fierce gaze.

“White Night Paradise?” Xu Disheng muttered, lifting his hand. The Profound Resonance Drum appeared in the hollow of his palm.

The black-clothed youth clearly didn’t think very much of Xu Disheng. He flipped his palm over and a blood-red sword appeared in his hand. He charged forward quickly and unleashed a blood red sword light down upon Xu Disheng’s head!

The demon race had many body refining experts, generally being less proficient in magic. But for the human race, it was the exact opposite.

“Profound Resonance Nine Rotations. First Rotation—Dense Fog and Gurgling Stream.”

After Xu Disheng activated the spell, the small, intricate drum floated from Xu Disheng’s hand up into the air. The gurgling sound of flowing water resounded deeply in everyones’ hearts.

The black-clothed youth’s expression changed slightly, and a tiny, cute spiritual beast leapt out of his black robe. With a light sweep of its small claws, a thin barrier of light appeared, blocking the sound wave.

After the blood-colored sword light arrived in front of Xu Disheng, it was completely absorbed by the White Moon Garment, disappearing into nothingness.

Turning his gaze to examine the small, cute creature on his shoulder, the black-clothed youth finally addressed Xu Disheng properly. “I am Bai Han, a Demon General of White Night Paradise. May I ask who you are?”

“Xu Disheng of the Shangqing Sacred Sect.”

At the side, Yuan Qi, Quan Hongyu, and the others who were best at reading the situation, came forward and knelt before Xu Disheng. “Soul Suppressor Sacred Son,” they greeted respectfully.

A look of understanding appeared in Bai Han’s eyes. “I knew that a normal Dao Foundation stage human couldn’t be this powerful. So you were a Sacred Son rank genius. However, this girl escaped from our White Night Paradise, so I would like to ask Soul Suppressor Sacred Son to allow me to take her back.”

Bai Han extended a hand from his long sleeve and pointed at Bai Yingxiu, who was standing near his group.

Xu Disheng raised an eyebrow and said, “Not only her, but you also can now be considered to be privately trespassing into the Shangqing Sacred Sect’s lands, violating the mutual agreement of both sects.”

Hearing the true meaning hidden in Xu Disheng’s tone, he shook his head. “Soul Suppressor Sacred Son, what do you think of this?”

A dark green droplet appeared in his palm, emitting a pure aura of life energy. It slowly flew towards Xu Disheng.

Xu Disheng casually stored it away and said, “Not enough.”

“I am already at the half-step Divine Core stage. If I really wanted to take action, it isn’t clear who would emerge victorious in the end!” Bai Han declared, his expression taking a turn for the worse. He clearly wasn’t willing to give more.

“Don’t forget that it was you two who first violated the mutual agreement of both sects. Plus, if it wasn’t me here, but Gou Lezhan alone, would you have left him any options?” Xu Disheng said, gesturing at Gou Lezhan, who was standing silently at the side.

Xu Disheng still hadn’t completely grasped Bai Han’s true strength. Although he wasn’t at the Sacred Son level, he was a tried and true half-step Divine Core stage cultivator. They had roughly probed each other’s strength earlier and reached a rough understanding about each other’s power. But if they decided to come to blows, victory or defeat wouldn’t be decided quickly.

After a moment of contemplation, Bai Han decided to give up on his plans to fight. He tossed out another half-droplet of dark green liquid, his face ashen. “May we meet again someday, Soul Suppressor Sacred Son.”

With that, he stepped on his massive nimbus cloud and rose into the sky. He wrapped Bai Yingxiu up with him, and they flew off into the distance toward the Luo River.

Xu Disheng didn’t stop him, simply putting away the half droplet of dark green liquid. He looked at Chu Luo and said, “Regarding Ma Chen’s death… Draft a jade slip and send it to Affairs Hall for record-keeping.”

“As you command, Soul Suppressor Sacred Son.”

Wearing a happy expression, He Ziming came forward and said, “Congratulations on receiving nearly two drops of Luo River Primordial Essence, Soul Suppressor Sacred Son!”

While the others didn’t know what Luo River Primordial Essence was, they weren’t willing to fall behind, and came forward to congratulate him in succession.

“You know what this is?” Xu Disheng asked, a hint of surprise in his gaze as he looked at He Ziming.

Before Xu Disheng had come to the Anxi Province, he had gone to Cultivation Method Pavilion and borrowed quite a few ancient texts. In the last few years, he had been poring over them in his free time when he wasn’t cultivating. He never wanted to be as ignorant as before, when he had first entered the Shangqing Sacred Sect.

“The Luo River has existed for a long time, vast and immense. It gathers the essence of heaven and earth, giving rise to countless demons in its waters,” He Ziming explained respectfully, speaking frankly with assurance. “Luo River Primordial Essence is a treasure of heaven and earth born periodically from the Luo River. It is extremely precious, and a single drop can extend one’s lifespan by 50 years.”

Everyone sucked in a breath of cold air when they heard what He Ziming said. They all stared at him with incredulous looks.

“50 years of lifespan!”

“That small drop is something so precious?!”

Gou Lezhan’s expression was complex, as if he wanted to speak up but was hesitating.

Xu Disheng happened to notice his expression. He flicked his sleeves and said, “Envoy Gou Lezhan, what makes you frown?”

“At the moment, I only have around 60 years of lifespan remaining, but I am still far from the Divine Core stage. I was hesitating to be so bold as to beg Soul Suppressor Sacred Son for half a drop of Luo River Primordial Essence,” Gou Lezhan said straightforwardly, gritting his teeth.

Xu Disheng’s eyes flashed. The highly tactful He Ziming came forward and said, “Luo River Primordial Essence is so valuable that there is no price for it. If you really want to talk prices, one drop would be at least 30,000 spirit stones, and half a drop… would naturally be 15,000 spirit stones.”

Gou Lezhan’s expression turned ugly. “Soul Suppressor Sacred Son, I only have a little more than 7,000 spirit stones saved up right now. I also have two common Magic Treasures in my possession. Would you please grant me this half drop of Luo River Primordial Essence for me to address my pressing situation for now?”

60 years of time really was quite short.

The reason why Gou Lezhan previously hadn’t participated in the affairs of the Anxi Province at all was because he didn’t want to waste any time doing anything other than cultivating. However, he was limited by his talent. As a Rank 5 Spiritual Root with ordinary powers of comprehension, it was practically impossible for him to break through into the Divine Core stage.

“Impudent!” Yuan Qi cried out before Xu Disheng could even speak, leaping forward and pressing his finger up against the Dao Foundation stage Envoy’s nose. “You don’t even have enough spirit stones, and you dare to covet the Sacred Son’s possessions? You shameless bastard!”

Even He Ziming nodded, showing his implicit agreement. “Envoy Gou, a price of 15,000 spirit stones is actually a rather low price estimate. If the Luo River Primordial Essence were to be put up for auction, even half a drop of it could easily go for over 20,000 spirit stones.”

Gou Lezhan glared at Yuan Qi. He hated this man to the bones, resenting him for being a dog that threatened others based on its master’s power. He wanted to strangle him to death on the spot, but with Xu Disheng here, he didn’t dare. He could only silently clench his teeth, bottling up his resentment towards Yuan Qi.

Boom!

A massive palm made of profound qi abruptly appeared, smashing into Yuan Qi. He was sent flying dozens of meters away, spraying out a large amount of blood. When he crashed into the ground, he struggled on the ground, gasping for air.

Xu Disheng retracted his snow-white sleeve, directing a cold glare at Yuan Qi. “Even if Gou Lezhan has acted out of propriety, he is still a Dao Foundation stage Envoy of the Shangqing Sacred Sect. With what capacity do you dare to trample on the face of the Shangqing Sacred Sect?”

Yuan Qi struggled into a half-kneel, forcing out his words between painful gasps. “Soul Suppressor… Sacred… Son… I… admit my… wrongs…”

“Gou Lezhan, you too. You don’t know your place at all. What use did the hundreds of years of cultivation serve if you, a Dao Foundation stage cultivator, don’t even know how to act?”

The White Moon Garment let out a pale white glow, and Xu Disheng, clearly angered, flew up into the sky and left with a flick of his sleeves.

Gou Lezhan hung his head in tacit agreement with Xu Disheng’s words, without any of the bearing that a Dao Foundation stage cultivator should have.

The others present were scared witless by the turn of events and didn’t dare to interject at all. When they looked off into the distance at Yuan Qi, who was on the brink of death, a hint of coldness appeared in their hearts.
