Grawp, the giant, knelt between two trees he had not yet uprooted. Chris looked up into his huge face, which resembled a gray full moon swimming in the gloom of the clearing. It was as though the features had been hewn onto a great stone ball. The nose was stubby and shapeless, the mouth lopsided and full of misshapen yellow teeth the size of half-bricks. The small eyes were a muddy greenish-brown and just now were half gummed together with sleep. Grawp raised dirty knuckles as big as cricket balls to his eyes, rubbed vigorously, then, without warning, pushed himself to his feet with surprising speed and agility.

The trees to which the other ends of the ropes around Grawp's wrists and ankles were attached creaked ominously. He was, as Hagrid had said, at least sixteen feet tall. Gazing blearily around, he reached out a hand the size of a beach umbrella, seized a bird's nest from the upper branches of a towering pine and turned it upside down with a roar of apparent displeasure that there was no bird in it — eggs fell like grenades toward the ground and Hagrid threw his arms over his head to protect himself.

"Anyway, Grawpy," shouted Hagrid, looking up apprehensively in case of further falling eggs, "I've brought some friends ter meet yeh. Remember, I told yeh I might?"

But Grawp merely gave another low roar and seized the top of the pine tree and was pulling it toward him, evidently for the simple pleasure of seeing how far it would spring back when he let go.

"Now, Grawpy, don' do that!" shouted Hagrid. "Tha's how you ended up pullin' up the others —"

But Chris saw the earth around the tree's roots beginning to crack.

"I got company fer yeh!" Hagrid shouted. "Company, see! Look down, yeh big buffoon, I brought yeh some friends!"

"I think Hagrid, his English needs work," Chris said. " I don't think he can understand —"

Chris abruptly stopped as she realized Grawp was looking down at her.

"This," said Hagrid, hastening over to Chris, "is Chris, Christi —"

Before Hagrid could finish Grawp's hand shot out of nowhere toward Chris. Next second Chris was in the air. Gwarp had scooped Chris up from the ground and lifted her until they were face to face. Chris heard all of her friends screaming and shouting. Even Hagrid was yelling, "BAD BOY, GRAWPY! VERY BAD BOY! YEH DON' GRAB CHRIS —"

"Well, this isn't going as planned," Chris muttered as Grawp stared at her with interest. "Anyways, hey Grawp! Will you mind putting me down, I really don't want to use magic on you. You are Hagrid's only family, of course, he loves you and we're Hagrid's friends so — but that doesn't mean you can grab me and —"

Chris wasn't sure if Grawp had any realization about what Chris was saying but like Hagrid, she also maybe he was really bullied and needed a friend. The thought was really stupid, Chris admitted it but then, there were people who wanted to kill and hurt others for their world domination dream and here was Grawp who had no idea what was going on, maybe he didn't even know that Hagrid was his family. But that didn't mean she will die in hands of a stupid little Giant. Chris saw Hagrid poking Grawp's continuously and sighed then she was about to conjure a fire when —

Grawp opened his mouth even wider, and said, in a deep, rumbling voice, "Cissy!"

"Wait, what?" Chris stared at him and realized Grawp was calling her.

"Cissy," he repeated happily.

"Yeah, that's right, Grawp but now," Chris pointed down. "Put me down."

Grawp stared at her stupidly but finally understood and put her down safely.

"Thanks, Grawpy," Chris grinned and Grawp straightened up again and again started pulling back the pine as far as it would go.

Harry, Ginny and Colin seized Chris, as soon as possible and pulled her backward behind the tree.

"Are you okay?" Everyone asked in unison.

"Yeah, he needs a little bit of teaching, then I think he will be fine," said Chris.

Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Colin stared at her as Hagrid came towards them.

"Yeh alrigh' Chris?" asked Hagrid thickly. "He never grabs but —"

"It's fine, I'm good," Chris replied.

"Well, I reckon tha's enough fer one day," said Hagrid. "We'll — er — we'll go back now, shall we?"

They nodded, Hagrid shouldered his crossbow again and led the way back into the trees. Nobody spoke for a while, not even when they heard the distant crash that meant Grawp had pulled over the pine tree at last.

"Have you hit your head somewhere, Chris?" said Ginny as they sat on the breakfast table.

"What?" Chris was about to bite a toast.

"What do you mean by he needs a little bit of teaching? He is nowhere near civilised," Ginny snarled.

"No matter what Hagrid says, you know very well that Giants love violence, do you think Grawp will be any different?" Hermione had joined Ginny.

"Hagrid is fooling himself," said Ron. "This is ridiculous! He had lost his mind."

"Yeah Chris, he would have been hurt you or dropped you," said Harry. "You could have been seriously injured."

"You can't go back there, Chris," said Colin, who looked paler than anyone. "No matter how lovely 'Cissy' sounds."

"Alright," Chris said looking guilty. "I know all of this. Maybe I can control beasts and Dementors, but I can't control a giant. I got it."

But soon Chris forgot Grawp and Hagrid as Luna gave them a good news two days later.

"I found Baby's breathe from Snape's personal cupboard," She grinned.

"You stole?" Colin looked somewhere between impressed and worried.

"Yes, he was busy talking to Umbridge and I saw it and couldn't resist," Luna explained.

"But he will know that, Luna," said Chris.

"He won't," Luna smiled. "No one thinks Loony Lovegood can do something like this."

"Hey!" Colin looked offended. "I told you a lot of times, not to call yourself that."

"Fine," Luna giggled.

"But if you have our last ingredient, then what're you all waiting for?" Ginny said stirring a cauldron. "Give it to me and let's get to work."

Luna handed Ginny a jar full of smoke and Chris and Colin sat around the Cauldron. As soon Ginny emptied the jar inside the cauldron, a bright silver vapor started to rise from the cauldron.

"Do you think it's ready?" Ginny asked Chris.

"I think," Chris nodded. "The question is, are we ready?"
