Hwang Soo-rim's eyes shot open, a strange weakness surging through her entire body.

My mana? The moment she regained consciousness, her skin prickled, and she shivered. It was a sensation she hadn't experienced since her early days of learning magic. Her mana was slipping away like water through her fingers.

She quickly regained her composure, drawing upon her training from Eraser to control her mana. It slowed the draining process, but she couldn't stop it completely. After taking these emergency measures, she expanded her awareness.

They're coming for me! She thought with a hint of panic. Thoughts of what Kim Kyung-hwan had mentioned raced through her mind. China?

In this dire situation, they seemed the most likely culprits.

She moved cautiously to the first floor, all the while witnessing through her mana circuit the National Intelligence System agents outside her house meeting a tragic end in the enemy's assault.

"Fuck," she muttered under her breath.

In an instant, the guards, who were there to watch over her, were gone, and she couldn't help but curse their futile sacrifice.

"I must get myself together," she resolved, her determination hardening.

Her heart pounded, realizing that if she got captured, she might find herself in a fate worse than death.

Meanwhile, her mana continued to drain away. She would have lost it all if it weren't for Eraser's teachings from when they departed to another world.

Eraser's decision to summon demons to confront the dragon had led to the party learning how to control their mana in case demons drained them even after the dragon's defeat. Hwang Soo-rim's survival was a testament to those acquired skills.

Upon reaching the first floor, her muscles tensed.

This is insane! How many of them are there? Hwang Soo-rim cursed inwardly. Her sharp senses alerted her to the approaching strangers. She counted the wizards among them and grasped the gravity of the situation. I need to strike first for now.

Positioned before the front door, she briefly loosened her grip on her mana and cast her spell. In doing so, she withdrew a substantial amount of mana temporarily released from her control.

The sound of the front door being opened reached her ears. She unleashed the precast spell.

Deafening screams echoed as a loud bang reverberated.

The god's metal, Quécadium, liquefied at high temperatures, struck her foes. After ensuring her opponents had fallen, Hwang Soo-rim retreated hastily. The enemies hesitated for a moment before attempting to enter. It bought her some precious time.

Damn it. Only one down? Hwang Soo-rim lamented, brainstorming her escape plan. All the Mana patterns in the house are gone!

She had strategically placed Mana patterns throughout the house as a means of defense, similar to what had immobilized the dragon in another world. These were triggers, magic circles drawn with Mana.

However, the enemy's tactics had eradicated all those patterns by draining mana in this whole house.

If only I had known, I would've inscribed magic circles in metal or dye! Hwang Soo-rim regretted his past choice.

She drew magic circles with only her mana intentionally due to the vigilant bodyguards who monitored her. She knew she could remain unnoticed that way. However, it had proven to be poisonous in the current dire circumstances.

She cast another spell as all her traps had become futile.

Hwang Soo-rim's Quécadius spell had evolved. Beyond manipulating the metal's shape, hardness, and sharpness, she could now manipulate its temperature and properties as she willed.

As she directed with her gestures, metals in the form of invisible ultra-fine dust mingled and scattered in the atmosphere.

"Get back in!" The commander's urgent command reverberated through the radio.

Responding to the commander's order, agents dressed in black cautiously entered through the front door.

They distanced themselves from the pools of molten red-hot metal. Whenever the room filled with smoke, it cast an eerie glow, gradually revealing itself.

"The first-floor living room, clear. Proceed into the room," relayed one of the agents through the communication device attached to their helmets.

Almost simultaneously with those words, an abnormality struck.

"Umph! Cough!"

The agent at the forefront suddenly spat out red blood.

"What!" Another agent exclaimed in shock.

"Cough! Kurgh!" The injured agent's agonized cries pierced the tense atmosphere.

The ultra-fine metals, once absorbed through the agent's respiratory system, swiftly responded to the spell's influence upon detecting body temperature. They gathered, grew in size, sharpened, and tore the agent's airways and lungs like thousands of needles.

The agent eventually collapses, vomiting pieces of flesh and blood. The rest of the agents in the back were all clad in gas masks.

"No gas sensor reaction!" someone shouted with concern.

"Is it not poison? Wizards! Check it out!" chimed in another voice urgently.

A wizard in the rear entered the house, struggling to don a gas mask with a clumsy hand. Immediately, he noticed mana spreading in the atmosphere. Carefully observing, the wizard confirmed the metal components mixed in the air through his detection magic.

"Dephiamo-altaenario-komoriendio!" he incanted, and a strong wind rose from his hand with the spell.

"It's clean now," a wizard from the Chinese government confirmed that all the material that had been spreading in the air had been gathered into one corner.

After hearing his report, the agents resumed their search of the house.

What the hell is that magic! Confusion twisted Hwang Soo-rim and she hastily retreated back to the second floor.

Downstairs, a different form of magic had been cast. Unlike Hwang Soo-rim, the wizards on the first floor exhibited no indications of their mana being drained. Unbeknownst to her, this was due to the influence of the wrist artifacts they were wearing.

Meanwhile, she closely observed the intricate dance of the mana. It's nothing like Eraser's magic, but it's certainly more sophisticated than Kaifu's.

Hwang Soo-rim delved into her memory. She'd heard that the extraterrestrial races in contact with the Chinese government were the ones with advanced magical civilizations. This had convinced her that her adversary was most likely from China.

I almost have no Mana left! Hwang Soo-rim panicked internally.

As she briefly released control and combined the two spells, a significant amount of magic leaked away.

Will reinforcements come because of the blown front door? She wondered to herself, concern evident on her face.

She had intentionally broken the door to alert the government to the situation.

However, the magic she'd prepared to immobilize their foes was easily disrupted. It happened because she hadn't infused enough mana into the metal pieces.

Because of this, she couldn't guarantee her survival until reinforcements arrived.

I can't just wait. Rather... Hwang Soo-rim was certain. She needed to contact Eraser. The problem lay in the fact that she couldn't send message magic to him now.

For message magic to work within the knowledge she has learned, she had to know the other person's exact current location or share magical tokens that could identify each other's whereabouts. Eraser hadn't allowed either option.

Only Eraser could find her and conveyed his intentions in ways unknown to Hwang Soo-rim. However there was no way at all in the opposite direction, creating a situation that seemed utterly unfair.

I am about to die because of that crap! Hwang Soo-rim was frustrated. Damn it!

The sound of footsteps echoed in the distance. As she heard the approaching footsteps, Hwang Soo-rim wondered if the search on the first floor had already concluded.

Oh, screw it! Really, if I can't reach you like this, how am I supposed to find you! Hwang Soo-rim couldn't help but complain to Eraser.

At that moment, a lightning-fast thought struck Hwang Soo-rim, causing her complexion to change dramatically.

Can it work? Of course, it has to! Determined, she steeled her mind and put her thoughts into action.

"Eraser," she whispered softly. "Eraser, Eraser, Eraser!"

She repeated his name over and over, as if reciting a desperate prayer.

"Eraser, Eraser! Can you hear me?" she implored. "You told me once. I know you could hear me. You said that if I spoke your name aloud, you would listen for a certain amount of time. That's how you heard Kim Kyung-hwan and me discussing you. You couldn't monitor me 24/7, so it was a surveillance feature you activated! It was even in the contract. Can you hear me?"

Hwang Soo-rim continued her words in a hushed voice.

"Answer quickly! I'm about to die now, huh? No, I'm not dying, and I'm going to be fucked up! Eraser! Eraser! Respond quickly!" She pleaded desperately. "Eraser! No, actually, your real name is Yoon Min-!"

At that moment, a sudden change unfolded.

"What! What's going on?" Eraser's will, mixed with suspicion, replied in her head.

"Phew!" Hwang Soo-rim let out a sigh of relief.

With a sense of urgency, Hwang Soo-rim quickly delivered the information, her words tumbling out in a rush.

"It's a raid. People in black clothes. Possibly from China. Twenty soldiers and ten wizards! Right now, I'm the only one here whose mana has been absorbed."

After absorbing her rapid report, his will responded, "It is approximately fifteen kilometers away. First, I'll dispatch the fastest support to you, and then I'll follow."

At that point, communication with his will ceased for a moment. Even though Eraser promised to send support, Hwang Soo-rim's anxiety lingered.

She pondered if Eraser might hold a solution. Perhaps he had hidden something in the house unknowingly, or some protective magic concealed within a contract spell. Yet, there appeared to be no such safeguard, and the assurance of support was all she received.

I wish I had a teleportation gate ready. Who on earth is he sending? Can I hold on like this? However, be it Eraser himself or the creatures from White Deer, none possess the ability to cover fifteen kilometers in an instant!

Panic coursed through Hwang Soo-rim as she found herself wondering anxiously. As far as she knew, none of the possibilities that crossed her mind could traverse that distance so swiftly.

Then, her mind halted its speculative trail. The situation left her with no choice but to cease her conjectures.

The entire house trembled as the deafening explosions reverberated, akin to an earthquake.

"What!" An exclamation was heard, their voice a mixture of shock and disbelief.

"Command! Command! Report of an external shock! Requesting video verification!" a bewildered agent shouted as they ascended the stairs.

"Keaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrh!" a harrowing scream pierced the air from outside, as if a soul was being torn asunder. Unconsciously, Hwang Soo-rim peered outside through her window.

"That... who?" she whispered, her disbelief evident.

Eraser answered her questions with a tone of indifference, "Oh, she must have arrived. She's quite swift, after all"

The outside scene came into Hwang Soo-rim's view.

In the garden beyond the window, a crater-like hole resembled a meteorite impact site. The rising dust quickly dissipated under the influence of mana expelled by an unidentified source.

Standing beside the pit in the well-lit garden was a naked woman. Her moonlit skin exhibited a pale blue hue, while her waist-length black hair bore stains of varying saturation.

Hwang Soo-rim swiftly discerned the nature of those stains. At the woman's feet lay a man in a black suit, torn into four pieces. Under the moonlight, the man's anguished and contorted face was visible, while steam rose from the exposed entrails on the ground.

"Who is... that?" she stammered, her voice trembling with fear.

Before she could receive an answer, Hwang Soo-rim felt her mana return to her body.

"These people are quite cunning. Nonetheless, all the artifacts sapping your magic have been neutralized by her. Is your body back to normal now?" asked Eraser. He appeared to be aware that Hwang Soo-rim had regained her mana.

"Ah..." Hwang Soo-rim replied with an affirmative tone.

"Now that you're back to normal, can you venture outside and incapacitate just two or three of them, then hide them separately? I'm not suggesting that you conceal them entirely, but rather keep them out of her reach. She won't be interested in anything that's unconscious," Eraser said.

"Yeah. All right. But why?"

"I'm going to investigate their background. I'm uncertain whether they're truly from China..." Eraser offered an explanation when he noticed what Hwang Soo-rim's question really was, "oh, she despised complicated conditions. Asking her not to spare some enemies and leave a few behind didn't cut it. If I summoned her, I couldn't orchestrate a sophisticated operation. The sole condition I could offer was total annihilation. You're not wearing black, are you?"

Hwang Soo-rim swiftly replied, "I'm not wearing it."

"Good," he responded flatly. "Then there's no issue."

While the two of them conversed, desperate screams persisted outside.

"Keaaaarrrrrrgh!"

All those who had approached Hwang Soo-rim ventured outside once more to assess the gravity of the situation. Hwang Soo-rim adjusted her stance to follow Eraser's instructions.

As the pandemonium outside intensified, Hwang Soo-rim asked, "By the way, that woman out of the window right now, who the hell is she?"

He explained, "Well, she's not something easily summoned. I only have to summon her if the situation calls for total annihilation, and she's quite particular about her terms. But the cloud she conjures can penetrate continents in an instant. Her speed rivals that of Space Ghost. I had to call upon her because she's the fastest summonee around."

Curiosity piqued, Hwang Soo-rim asked, "Summonee? Those creatures summoned through your Channel in your chest?"

"Exactly."

"But she looks like a human?"

"Seems like there's no need for her to revert to her original form. Her appearance now mirrors the person she follows. It's not easy to spot, but her ears are significantly longer than those of regular people," Eraser clarified.

Before Hwang Soo-rim descended the stairs, she peered out once more through the hallway window. The nude woman strolled leisurely, as if on a nighttime promenade. However, with each step she took, the people around her exploded into showers of blood and scattered intestines.

Hwang Soo-rim's curiosity got the better of her. "That entity... what on earth is it called?"

Eraser responded grimly, "It's a Kirin¹ who's renounced the vow of not to kill, unafraid of causing life-threatening harm. It's a Black Kirin. In essence, a ferocious herbivore."

Simultaneously, a full-scale massacre erupted outside.

Footnote:

¹ Kirin (기린). In Korea, Kirin is depicted as a creature resembling a deer, but it has the tail of an ox and hooves like those of a horse. It's similar to Qilin in China and Kirin in Japanese.
