A weirdo certainly grasped the Duke. He was sure that the meeting would result in more loss than profit. It almost seemed like it was best to stop his daughter from going out. He already asked Ella if she could stay at home, but her decision was solid, “I can’t waste even a second right now. I’ll be safe, so don’t worry, father.” She tried to comfort the Duke, which made him become even more worried. He was thinking about calling the Imperial Palace to call in the Royal Guards.

“You won’t have any better alternative than me, Milord,” said Vylun.

“You and Dayson are the same in my eyes!” shouted the Duke.

“Why is that?”

The Duke became silent again, then he asked, “You. What do you think of my daughter?”

“I like her.”

His answer came immediately. The Duke slammed at the desk annoyingly and retorted, “And that is why I can’t allow it! My daughter has to become the crown princess!”

“Is that the case even if she doesn’t want to become the crown princess?”

“That is her fate. And someday, she will understand. I hope that you don’t tempt my daughter in a different way.” The two stubborn men’s eyes met. It was a fight that neither could surrender.

“You’re just afraid that I’ll shake her feelings. Is that not the case?”

“I trust my daughter. I just wish to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.”

“If she’s not going to be shaken, why does it matter? I’ll ask again. Do you have any other alternatives?”

With a different tone from just now, the Duke groaned. Vylun was right, and there was no alternative. It was a dead end. He became furious at Dayson, who created such a situation. He didn’t like Dayson from the beginning, and that remained the same to the end. As a result, he had to allow Vylun’s request.

After thinking about the process it took for the Duke to allow it, Vylun let out a swear quietly, so Ella couldn’t hear. He didn’t want to let her know what it took. Not only that, he didn’t want her to know that her father rejected him so badly. But seeing how she was so curious, he couldn’t hide everything.

“It is a temporary position until Eric comes back. We decided to talk it over with Eric when he’s here, but he won’t change my will.”

The Duke agreed only when Vylun retreated into saying that he would only do it temporarily until Eric came back. Ella remembered Dayson’s eyes that followed her throughout the entire party. The Duke couldn’t have rejected Vylun from being an escort. It was easy to see why her father agreed with this.

“If so, it will be my honor until then,” said Ella. She could imagine everything but bowed politely with an innocent expression that looked as if she didn’t know anything. But she hid the distinct line within it.

Vylun immediately realized her intention, and his expression darkened. “It’s from ‘now on.’ There is no ‘until then.’”

His dark blue eyes became deeper as he looked at her. Ella became frustrated by his strong will. ‘Wasn’t the buff lowered yet? Or is it too late for his feelings since the damage has already been done?’

If Vylun was the same, then it also meant that Dayson, who was watching Ella like a madman, hadn’t changed as well. Dayson was actually more problematic than Vylun. Ella almost became teary but resisted. If she became teary, Vylun was going to get the wrong idea. But she couldn’t stop her sigh.

At her sigh, Vylun’s shoulder flinched. She couldn’t let him be like this, someone who would react to even a slight sigh. “Vylun, I’ll be entering the palace in a year. It will only be until then. You know that.”

“You don’t have to enter the palace. Or I can go to the palace myself. Then we can erase the ‘until then’ part, isn’t that right?”

“Vylun!” Ella clearly drew the line, but he looked at her without any hesitation. She could easily sense his will that he would never back down.
