Let’s think. Let’s think about it.

‘Why’ couldn’t anyone find them?

‘Why’ are they unjustly holding us captive and searching for betrayers and jewels?

They gathered together, wandering around, talking among themselves. At first, they tried to keep their voices down, but now they don’t even bother hiding it. The hostages trembled every time the thieves’ emotions fluctuated.

“It’s not there! It’s not!”

“There’s no betrayer, no ‘that item’!”

“If we can’t eliminate the betrayer, we’ll pay with our lives. Let’s kill them all. Kill every last one of them.”

“No, spare the child and the woman!”

“There are no exceptions! If we’re going to die anyway, let’s take as many hostages as possible!”

It was a horrifying conversation that put even my life at stake.

‘What kind of madness is this religion?’

What does it matter if we all die along with the betrayer?

However, if I make a wrong move, I might get caught up in their madness. I really don’t want to think about dying.

“Captain, what should we do?”

“Make a decision.”

The adults looked at Kien.

Kien frowned.

“Spare children and women. After all, they’re not the ones we’re looking for.”

“But they heard our voices. They might remember our faces as well.”

“Anyway, if we can’t find the item even after eliminating the betrayer, it would be a failure. Then we have no worth in staying alive.”

Kien said bluntly.

“There’s no need for childrens’ blood on our hands. And don’t harm people in front of the children. Move the guys from that room first, and finally, if there’s still nothing.”

Kien gave orders.

“Kill them all.”

“Then we…”

The faces of the thieves turned pale.

This picture got worse. So you’re saying you’re going to kill everyone, including Siebel?

‘If we go through something like that, everyone here will go insane.’

It doesn’t seem like a joke aftermath.

‘I have to do something.’

I gritted my teeth.

But Siebel was faster than me.

He stood up from his seat.

“Hey, may I share my opinion?”

Siebel spoke in a remarkably peaceful manner.

As if suggesting we have a cup of tea.

The expressions of the people twisted strangely.

“What’s wrong with this lunatic?”

Kien said.

“It seems like someone is looking for a particular person. So, should we find that person instead of all of us dying?” Siebel smiled cheerfully as he spoke.

Using the term ‘us’ while kindly indicating both the hostages and the thieves.

“If we all come together and find just one person to sacrifice, isn’t that enough?”

“…”

“Do we really need all of us to be ‘sacrificed’?”

What is he saying now?

That was honestly what I felt.

In the bewildering situation, there was no one to retort to the absurd story being told.

“Hey, kill that bastard first,” Kien spat, pointing at Siebel.

“Since we’re going to kill everyone anyway, shouldn’t we just listen to what they say?”

One of Kien’s subordinates hesitated and spoke.

“What?”

Kien’s expression was incredulous.

“How do you know who the person we’re looking for is, and how are you going to find him? Don’t talk nonsense. You’ll be sent off to suffer, specially.”

Kien approached Siebel and spoke assertively.

Standing next to Siebel, even my downy hair stood on end.

‘This is what you call survival? It’s terrifying.’

I’ve been thinking this since earlier, but it’s a gaze that gives people the creeps. Yet Siebel pointed at me, smiling without a hint of fear.

“What if we ask this young lady for help?”

The gaze of the people slowly shifted towards me.

Me?

“Who is she?” Stunned, Kien asked.

“This young lady is the most intriguing ‘gifted’ among the people I’ve seen recently, a brilliant specialist in psychology at the Gifted Research Institute, has recently encountered. She demonstrates innate talent in deductive reasoning and situational awareness. Give her a chance for consultation. Despite her angelic appearance, she is a girl with demonic talent and will undoubtedly help resolve the situation.”

“Mr. Siebel, what are you talking about?”

I couldn’t believe it. Siebel, could it be? Are you selling me out right now?

“Well, it’s true. This girl is a genius.”

“She has solved incidents that occurred in the royal palace before.”

Some of the children murmured cautiously.
