“Again?”

“They call it wild animals, but…”

The atmosphere in the castle the next morning was restless.

‘Are they all talking about last night’s incident?’

The screams from the previous night.

As I headed to breakfast, I encountered a maid named Marie.

“What’s going on?”

“Oh, princess.”

She was taken aback, interrupting her conversation with the other maids.

“It’s nothing. We heard strange sounds from the forest yesterday…”

“It was probably a fox.”

One of the maids who was paying attention interjected.

“Or…”

“Or?”

I widened my eyes and asked.

“Somebody said they saw a ghost.”

“Who?”

“I’m not sure either. One of the laundry maids who works in one of the outbuildings said she saw a small white figure jumping out of the forest last night!”

“Is that the wizard ghost?”

They said a wizard ghost appears in that forest. I became intrigued.

“Is there any legend about that forest?”

The maids hesitated at my question.

“Well, actually…”

After some hesitation, the maids began to speak.

“There’s a story…”

The story the maids told me was about it.

‘The Ghost of the White Wizard.’

Even as I sat at the breakfast table, I pondered.

“There were times when White Wizards died in the forest behind the Duke’s castle.”

That was the story the maids had shared.

The Extermination War of the White Wizards. A horde of White Wizards had gathered to assassinate the Duke but met a gruesome end in that forest.

“At that time, among the White Wizards, there were children and old people. All sorts of ghosts wandered about.”

It’s a creepy and unsettling legend.

Not only that, but it is said that the White Wizard ghosts wander around, harboring hatred towards the Duke, and gather to gossip, casting curses at night.

‘If that’s the case, it’s understandable why the people here fear that forest.’

* * *

Only Collen, Elena, and I attended breakfast.

“What about Marianne? We didn’t talk much yesterday.”

Elena shook her head anxiously.

“She’s still sleeping due to a hangover.”

I nodded. There’s someone else I want to see more than Marianne right now.

“Then what about Prince Cedric?”

“He said he had some business at the Southern Academy and left early.”

Elena replied.

‘I want to ask about what happened last night.’

The dining hall was crowded with servants, but there were only a few people having breakfast.

The atmosphere was different from the previous night.

‘Is it because of the commotion from last night?’

After breakfast, a young man entered the room. Elena stood up to greet him.

“Schwell, greetings. These are the members of the Duke’s family.”

“Hello! It’s a pleasure to meet the members of the Duke’s family. I’m Schwell de Sivan.”

He was a slender young man with twinkling eyes. He seemed very cheerful.

“A member of the Sivan family? I’ve never seen you before. Why are you introducing yourself?”

Collen asked right after being greeted.

“Leticia has shown an interest in the history of the South. I thought it would be good to have a guide for her. Schwell works as a lecturer at the Southern Academy.”

“That’s right. I’ll do my best. Nice to meet you, princess Leticia.”

Schwell bowed to me again, showing great courtesy.

“If Leticia wanted it, there’s nothing we can do.”

Collen said grudgingly.

“Sweetie, get ready for the outing and come out.”

“Is Dad coming too?”

“Of course. How can I leave you in the hands of a stranger?”

Collen and I are going out to have fun! And we’ll even tour the South!

I wore a lace-trimmed pink dress and a bonnet with a white furry red coat to match.

“We have prepared an open carriage for you to comfortably enjoy the sightseeing. And for the Duke, we have arranged a separate horse carriage.”

There was a large and slender horse standing next to it, pulling a pristine white open carriage.

“There is a heating stone installed inside the carriage, so it will be warm.”

The carriage even had white ribbon decorations, perhaps for my sake.

“The carriage is beautiful. But will I be riding separately from Dad?”

I wanted to explore and have fun together.

Collen let out a strange sigh.

“This kind of carriage is a guilty pleasure.”

“I, I apologize. I thought Lady Leticia would like it.”

Schwell glanced at me.

“Do you like the carriage?”

“Yes, I think it’s pretty…”

“Then I’ll ride in the carriage too.”

Collen got on the carriage, and Zion got on the opposite side.

With the two tall men boarding, the lace-adorned white carriage looked quite small. Did they squeeze in?

“Come here, my dear.”

“Yes!”

I was excited and sat next to Collen.

“Why are you smiling, Zion? You’ve developed a strange habit lately.”

Zion pressed his gloved hand against his smile and turned his head.

“I apologize. But still… Miss, you are delicate.”

“I’ll handle it.”

Rattle. The carriage started moving with a jolt.

As we passed through the small forest of the Duke’s estate, we immediately entered a field of flowers.

‘It’s flowers!’

I leaned forward and admired the flowers.

“What you see now is the winter pansy field, which is the pride of the South. It stretches all the way from behind the Duke’s forest to the city center.”

“It’s beautiful.”

The yellow pansies swayed gracefully, filling the roadside.

A mysterious pale yellow color spread like watercolors, as if spring had arrived.

“The southern region has always been a favored land for wizards due to its favorable natural environment, so many of them have immigrated and settled there.”
