See? What gentle and polite? She's still the same devil that she was.

He lamented.

It was wrong of him to almost believe in gossip. The beautiful picture before was completely torn down by the girl herself.

Tsk. Tsk.

He slowly shook his head.

Written on his young face was an unmasked judgement, "Can you not speak like a gangster?" He muttered like a grandpa looking at a hopeless younger generation. "And put down your leg and sit properly, you know?"

He had the strong urge to save his eyes from this girl's antics and twisted his body back on the study table.

He summed up that working out his favorite math workbook would be more fruitful than thinking about those messy things. What a waste of that face's beautiful aesthetic ah!

The girl stuck her red tongue out and followed the boy into sitting honestly at his side. "Have you finished that cobra thing? Look at your under-eye! Tsk! Tsk! You're one sleepless night away from becoming a panda!"

"It's Python, not a cobra." He answered without taking away his sight from his workbook. "Still need some figuring out. I'm stuck in some parts, but it's almost done."

"Why not ask for help from uncle? You've been staying up late for a month now. Can you still keep up with classes?"

"He's busy enough with his own projects and I can still manage a simple program." He expertly scribbled and started another equation problem after encircling his answer to the previous question. "Speaking of classes, you're the one who needs a lot of worrying. Brush up the notes I gave you last week. You didn't wanna blow up this last year of Junior High, didn't you?" He side-eyed her mixed with an undisguised gloating sneer.

From years of sticking together, Isagani knew how much the girl despised studying. It was somewhat better now, now that part of the requirements of being a student-athlete was good grades, and she was forced to keep up and at least not fail any of her subject courses.

He was sure that this girl was—again—stalling studying time.

Yumi stuck out her tongue at him and rolled her eyes. It was her fault for worrying about this ungrateful brat. It was her fault for constantly forgetting that this lad was not a human but a working machine that'd long been addicted to complicated mathematics. It was really her bad.

He knew that this was the thing that was bothering her these days, yet he happily took this knife to stab her fragile heart.

She wanted to shout vengeance!

After recovering from the boy's unsolicited diss, she just comforted herself and moved on. After all, she was not a vengeful person. Not at all!

This is their daily routine.

Either Yumi would be the one hanging out at Isagani's place or the other around, but having a place with no power interruption, thanks to the family's generator, they were a regular at Isagani's.

Who would be stupid enough not to cease a chance to feel the still hot air blowing from the electric fan? The cold water from the refrigerator? Yumi was not and is not!

They even had an antenna there, a wide dish full of wires that he told her was their source of internet. How fancy it was!

The only downside whenever they're in his room, she needs to stare silly for an hour or two until the boy is satisfied enough with his daily dose of math. Who told her to be friends with this math maniac?

Seemingly bored, Yumi wrapped her eyes inside the room.

Everything was neatly and purposely organized.

The sheets and pillows were perfectly smoothed out and there was no dirty laundry in the basket. Even the cables of his two-screen computer were tucked into a satisfying coil.

She gently bobbed her head in approval. This smelly boy might be a little pain in the *ss but his cleanliness was second to no one.

This is one of the reasons why she chose to befriend the newly arrived Gani way back then.

Their first encounter might be a little bit annoying, but taking into account that he was the only boy in their town who was dressed cleanly and fragrant, she reluctantly accepted him into her mighty pact that now consisted of two people.

How magnanimous she was!

Her chest rose slightly, showing a little pride in her smart choices and side-eyed the boy who was aggressively writing symbols in his book.

Seeing him so engrossed in his own world, she didn't bother him anymore.

She believed that she was old enough to entertain herself, so she looked for something fun to do.

She spotted the collection of glossy comics on his left side.

She used her right hand to prop up her upper body and stretched her white left arm towards the bookshelf, aiming to pull out the most eye-catching one. Having a shorter reach than the length of the table, she leaned forward, interrupting the other's problem-solving.

Ready to reprimand the girl, Isagani turned his head sharply but his momentum was blocked by the sight under his eyes.

Wearing a square neckline dress, Yumi's collar hung low.

Beneath that cover was a deep crack between the pale skin. Besides that crack and a small amount of skin, the rest was covered by her baby bra. No one knew where that crack led, but not knowing was sometimes the biggest tease. It gave anyone who witnessed room for wild imagination.

Isagani felt his throat dry. He swore that he didn't intend to peek. It was just really hard to not see something that was right in front of his face.

Coupled with the fact that his pursuit of happiness was prematurely halted by this girl's intrusion, the itchy agitation in the lad's heart resurfaced.

How can it be so white?

He gulped.

Unfortunately, he was not given the luxury of enjoying the art longer.

This brief distraction was enough for the lady to grab the comic book.

Recognizing the magazine the girl was aiming at, he widened his eyes in a minute's alarm, but before he could stop the girl from grabbing the small magazine, the contents were already exposed in broad daylight.

Silence filled the room and the temperature of the hot air seemed to double.

He was done. It's hard to be a healthy young teenager. Literally, hard.
