Eustave murmured.

“Master seems to be an anomaly.”

Like hair, magic colors have never been white. Only Idris was white.

At that moment, Eustave asked what came to mind.

“Do you have anything to do with a devil?”

“Devil?”

“There are times when things related to devils are white. Well there are some exception such as Siezion and ‘Devil’s Light’”

Devil’s light. It was a term referring to a magic sword that the devil made themselves.

A magic formula that could summon the sword was written in a book that was only allowed to be viewed by the archmage.

The archmage inherited the sword from generation to generation. They used it and changed the design to suit their taste. Idris also used it a lot.

“There is a theory that it was white because it kept getting remodeled. It was written in the corner of the magic book I read a while ago.”

Since Idris wasn’t sure about that, he told him.

“Whether the devil made me, or holy god made me..”

He said just as he passed by him.

“It doesn’t matter as long as I’m not useless.”

“When I hear things about devils connected to you, I will cry because I am sad.”

Eustave also responded with no sincerity.

From then on, it was a silent continuation of work.

Idris thought that processing these mountains of documents did not fit Eustave’s temper at all.

He was willing to remove Eustave from management when he had the opportunity.

The work divided into half was quickly finished. Eustave organized the documents with an excited face.

Vianne fell asleep deeply. What should he do? Idris thought about it.

“She hasn’t eaten dinner yet.”

“Wouldn’t it be better to just let her sleep and serve breakfast early tomorrow?”

“If it was Liliel, she would have woken hrr up and fed her.”

“Who is Liliel?”

“A friend.”

When Idris said that, he recalled what happened 10 years ago.

He woke up Vianne carefully.

“Vianne, have dinner and go to bed.”

“Huh… I fell asleep. What time is it?”

Vianne opened her eyes and asked in a hoarse voice.

“Seven o’clock.”

“Is that so…? That’s right, dinner! Let’s go, I’m hungry.”

As Vianne woke up rubbing her eyes, she got caught on the desk leg. Idris hugged her as she fell down.

Eustav almost reflexively placed a spell for Vianne, but stopped.

This was because several spells were already laid in the same place.

“Ah, really…”

Vianne, who was not fully awake, was annoyed.

Idris patted her on the back and comforted her.

“This desk in this room, I’ll replace it with another one right away.”

“Okay…… Change it.”

Vianne said it lightly as Idris hugged her.

He was worried that she would get hurt again if he let Vianne, who was still half asleep, walk.

The three went out of the room to eat.

***

It’s nine o’clock now. I almost dragged Idris to his room.

“Vianne, I still have more work to do…”

“Shut up and lie down, Idris.”

I pointed firmly at the bed. When he hesitated, I sat on the bed first and pulled his hand.

But did I pull it too hard? Or did Idris come too cooperative? He almost fell over me.

Of course, he didn’t actually lay down on me.

I lay down to avoid bumping into him but he put his hand on both sides of me.

Suddenly, it was as if I had been imprisoned.

I swallowed my breath in surprise at the distance. Is it because he’s too handsome? My heart kept racing whenever I saw this face.

Even now, my whole body is tense.

I’m going crazy.

“…You deliberately let me drag you.”

He looked at me and smiled brightly. Then suddenly, he erased his expression.

‘Why, why? He’s making me feel awkward.’

“…….”

He seemed to have a lot of thoughts, but on the contrary, his mind went blank.

I tried to say something because I can’t stand the long silence.

“If I sleep here, where are you going to sleep?”

An unexpected question came out.

Come to think of it, it’s true. He stayed up last night, so I slept on this bed alone.….

‘Am I going to go to another room today?’

“I can’t send you to another room alone. It’s dangerous.”

As if he had read my thoughts, he gave me an answer.

“No way, you’ll sleep here as well?”

‘Are you going to sleep with me right now?’

My heartbeat grew loud enough to be heard in my ears. I will die of embarrassment.

I was worried about whether Idris could hear it too.

“If that’s not the case, I won’t sleep. I can’t sleep well without this room.”

But because of his words, I held back what I was about to say.

“Hey, I told you not to stay up again.”

“I haven’t heard those words in a long time.”

Idris said in a voice that seemed to be reminiscing his memories.

Yes, I told him that 10 years ago. But that’s not important, is it?

“Are you trying your best not to sleep now?”

“I will not deny it.”

“I can’t let that happen. Come here.”

I tapped the sofa next to me with my hands. It meant he should go here instead and lie down.

Idris looked at me with disbelief.

When I confidently pointed to the side, it was only then that he got up.

His handsome face moved away from my sight again.

Without realizing it, I thought it was a pity.

I was surprised and immediately erased it from my mind.

“Now go to sleep, you have been awake for the third day.”

I leaned back against the head of the bed, watching him lie down slowly.

Turning my head to the side, I could see the disorganized white hair. It was hair that seemed very soft when touched.

If I make up my mind, I will also be able to see his beautiful face. But I consciously avoided it.

I had to protect my heart.

“Vianne.”

It had been a while since we lay down, and he spoke to me in a hoarse voice.

“Yes?”

I reluctantly responded.

“When are you going to sleep?”

“I will watch you sleep.”

“You don’t have to.”

“It’s not because I think it’s necessary. I can’t sleep right now. I took a nap twice earlier.”

“…Okay.”

Idris spoke quietly. That was it. While talking, I felt like I fell asleep.

Gradually, there was only the sound of his breath.

Silence consumed the room.

In the dark, I sat up without thinking much.

Because of the events of the past few days, this time feels peaceful.

Even though I was in a mage’s island filled with mages who would covet my mana.

Is it because there’s Idris next to me? It’s been 10 years since we met, but we’re always comfortable as if we were always together.

The anxiety that I’ve been feeling all the time clearly faded. To the point where I naturally talk with the mages I’ve never seen before.

“It’s nice to have you…”

If you weren’t my friend, Idris, what would happen?

I raised my hand and touched his soft bangs slightly. The sleeping Idris was like an angel.

He looked like an angel like when he was young.

With the face of an angel, he now had blood on his hands, it takes ten years for him to come back to us…

***

I can’t remember exactly when I fell asleep.  When I opened my eyes, it was already morning.

I opened my eyes to the morning sun leaking through the cracks of the curtains. It was the same weather as usual.

But why am I in his arms?

‘I’m going crazy……’

I thought about what happened last night. But I swear nothing had happened.

‘Then what is this?’

Idris was hugging me while sleeping and he almost covered me. Because of that, I couldn’t move a finger even though I woke up.

‘It’s warm and nice, but… Is this okay?’

I couldn’t help but stare at Idris, who was sleeping.

I heard a heartbeat. It belonged to Idris. I could hear his breathing and saw his long lashes.

It was quite a surprise to see someone like this hugging me like a doll.

Can we do this between friends?

Maybe this is nothing?

Then Idris slowly opened his eyes.

“…….”

Unlike me, he looked calm. There was no sign of trying to figure out the situation.

I was sure. This man was like that.

“Hello.”

Idris said hello with a sly smile. At first glance, he even looked satisfied.

“Would you mind moving away?”

When I asked in an absurd manner, his arm slipped off me.

“Do you usually sleep hugging something?”

“No.”

“Then what is this?”

“You were cold.”

“Me?”

Didn’t I wear a blanket last night? I try to think of it somehow, but he added.

“That’s why you dug into me.”

“Me?”

Vianne, how could you do this?

I felt betrayed by myself. I was the culprit!

“…… I’m sorry, Idris.”

I immediately lowered my head and apologized.

Why did he laugh so happily? From Idris’ point of view, didn’t he feels like getting robbed?

“You don’t need to be sorry, Vianne. Being cold means your body is weak.”

Idris was worrying about me instead

“It will take some time to recover.”

He said as if there was no other choice. He’s doing that again because he doesn’t want to keep me on the island for a long time.

“Well, there’s nothing I can do about it.”
