Idris looked at me. Well, it was a great misfortune for me. But wasn’t it the same for him? I patted his arm a couple of times.

“… That’s right. Even then, Oscar would have left a gun in front of the mansion, probably.” Idris placed several barriers of appropriate difficulty in the corner of the vacant lot, about ten meters away from us. Then he continued to say, “These guns are often traded as luxury goods among nobles. For them, a beautiful shape must be more valuable than the meaning. Maybe they didn’t even care about the meaning at all.”

“Oh, that’s why you said it’s expensive.”

My relatives went crazy when the gun was gone. But the thought that I, the mercenary guild owner, would take it had never crossed their mind. Of course, I’ve been stealing thoroughly in my own way while avoiding their gaze. So I was never caught.

I didn’t know there was such a story involved in this gun.

“For some reason, when I told her I stole it, Marquess Lahrat oddly didn’t disapprove of it.” Hmm, now I understand.

I thought about it and turned to Idris.

Before I could speak, Idris explained, “Earlier, I randomly tested it. So don’t worry about your safety.”

Even if he didn’t say it, I knew it well. It was yesterday when I said I wouldn’t learn attacking magic, and Idris wouldn’t have forgotten that.

He activated the spell. A bullet fell into my hand without a problem.

“The problem with your attack magic is the direction is off. I turned the shape into a bullet to make up for that. You’re a good shooter.”

“You’re so smart.” I laughed and loaded the bullets he made earlier.

“As you can see, the power will be different from ordinary bullets,” he added.

I raised my eyebrows. “Really?”

Bang!

I shot without hesitation. It was so fast that I couldn’t see it closely, but I could tell it was quite strong. The bullet stopped and disappeared only after cracking the barrier.

“Wow, it’s strong.”

“This is enough to deal with a mage who uses defensive magic.”

“Thank you. It’s a great gift.” I smiled broadly as a token of gratitude and noticed Idris staring at me.

‘No, please don’t stare at me like that. I’m going crazy.’

I avoided his gaze and wanted to run away, but then I heard a voice.

“There you are.”

I immediately loaded one more bullet, and turned my body, preparing to pull the trigger. With a loud bang, the gun was fired. That was a payback for what happened earlier.

Michael spat out a curse and looked at me with a shameless smile. “The gift is too much.” Michael had blocked the shot, but the bullet pierced his shield.

I laughed at the sight of blood flowing down his arm. “It’s a gift from Idris. Hey, did you look down on me and the gun too?”

“That’s right, as expected of my master.”

“You hurt Idris yesterday. Think of it as a reward for provoking the archmage.”

“So why would you reward me for that… Master, shall we talk about that spell without that person?”

I rolled my eyes at his words and saw large magic formed by Idris. “What’s this?” I asked, brimming with curiosity.

“It’s magic that can kill a person, my lady,” Michael answered first. “That formula development is unique. Don’t do it, master. I’m still too useful to die.” Michael conjured some unusual magic. It wrapped up Idris’ magic and destroyed it. Then, he healed his arm with healing magic. “Think about it first. I’m here to give you some good news today. How can you treat me like this?”

“What’s the news?” I asked instead of Idris.

“Seizion escaped just now,” Michael replied matter-of-factly.

  “What?”

 “What do you mean?”

Idris and I exclaimed at the same time

“Literally. It flew through the window. I came across it by chance and came to report it.”

“If you had seen it, you should have caught it.”

“Master, my opponent is an ancient living barrier. If I tried to do it, I might get hit back and die.”

“Then you should have caught it because of that.”

Michael erupted into a laughing fit when Idris said crazy things with an expressionless face. How amusing.

“Hmm. Did Siezion go far away?” I asked him seriously.

“Well… First of all, Siezion is trapped in the barrier it maintains. It had a bird form, not a fish form. I think its not far yet. There’s a high possibility that its still here somewhere on this island, right? Michael replied, dissatisfaction present on his face.

“If Siezion goes out of Mage’s Island, will the barrier be lifted?” I also lived in a tower all my life because of this condition before.

“Yes. How did you know that?”

“I thought so, seeing you talk as if it was an important issue.”

“That’s right. Anyway, we shouldn’t let Siezion go out.”

“Then we should hurry up and go find it.”

“Vianne?”

“Huh?”

This time, Idris and Michael focused on me at the same time.

“Because I’m close to Siezion, if I persuade it well, it’ll come back calmly.” During my stay here, I played with Siezion whenever I had time. Perhaps I’m its best friend on this island. “Anyone know what Siezion attacking habit is?” I raised my hand and asked them.

“Michael Pendes knows that well,” Michael said abruptly. “It won’t go first. But if it thinks you’re threatening it, it’ll attack. It used ancient magic that no one can stop. If you don’t attack first, that would be fine.”

“Vianne, it’s dangerous.” Idris strongly opposed Vianne going after Siezion.

On the other hand, Michael perked up again. “Then I’ll leave now. I won’t do it.” He immediately left after that.

“First of all, block the entrance, Idris. You have the authority to do that.”

“… Eustave.”

Idris did not take his eyes off me and reluctantly cast a communication spell.

[… Alright. What is it this time?]

“Siezion ran away.”

[What? What did you say?] Eustave was shocked. [Isn’t it supposed to be in your room?]

“It happened while I was out with Idris.”

[Oh my god, why isn’t there a day when the island is quiet? I’ll block the entrance right away. Do we have enough people to capture it? I don’t think it’s going to work…]

I sent a look to Idris, asking him to trust me.

Idris eventually did as I said. “…Vianne and I will approach it and find its location.”

[I see. But why would Vianne be with you?]

“Just because Vianne is close to Siezion.”

[… I can’t believe she’s close to it. We have to find Siezion’s location first. Please go out to the city and wait.]

“Okay.”

The communication was cut off.

Idris looked at me with eyes full of concerns. “Vianne, Mage’s Island will be okay, so ease your worries, okay?” He soothed me gently.

“But I can’t let it just walk around like this. It can destroy the city, or turn into dust or fly and go out without anyone knowing. There are many other unexpected actions that Siezion can do. As you said, we can’t predict it.”

And if I compare it with my experience… Living barriers were often very defensive. Siezion would experience what I had felt before too. When it broke the window and flew out of the comfortable house, it meant that it was scared of something. If that was the case, I can help it.

“By the way, are you going to go too?”

“What? How can I let you go alone?” Idris seemed serious.

“Calm down. I’m going because I think I can do it. But you’ll still be worried, so…” I smiled awkwardly. “Let’s go, Idris. Let’s find Siezion.” I deliberately spoke in a more upbeat manner and tugged on his arm, pulling him along with me.
