Chapter 153: Office Drama

Upon returning from their vacation, Shao Yan was quickly sucked back in to the routines. She spent the whole morning trying to catch up with the hundreds of emails that she had received.
Fan jie, Wenhai and others would sometimes stop by her desk to ask about her vacation.
"Xiao Yan, how's Japan? What did you do there?"
"How was the hot spring, Xiao Yan? Should I go there during winter or fall? Was it pretty? Let me see your pictures!"
"Did you meet any cute Japanese guy? Are they tall? Are they handsome?"
But Shao Yan was not in a mood to chat, so she swiftly chased them away; telling them that she had meetings to attend.
When she was about to bury herself in the tons of email, a slim hand was knocking on the corner of her desk.
Shao Yan lifted her face to see the owner of the fair skin who just disturbed her concentration.

"Hey! You're finally back!" Li Na was smiling cheerfully at her.
Shao Yan returned her smile and then she quickly said, "I'm sorry Li Na, I'm very busy right now. I'll catch up with you later, alright?"
Li Na glanced at her computer screen, and then she placed a small paper plate on her desk, "Have some cake. The accounting team is celebrating Madam Zuo's birthday today. So they shared some cakes for us, too," she pointed at the paper plate, "this is your share. Remember to eat and not just working all day, alright?"
Shao Yan nodded absentmindedly as she was still thinking about a list of action items in her head.
She turned her head back to look at her computer screen as she thought Li Na would walk away after saying that.
But she stayed lingering by her desk, seemingly hesitant to say something.
Shao Yan looked up at her again; she tilted her head and said to her, "Uh, Li Na, do you have anything else to say?"
Li Na turned her head to the left and right, looking around to see if anyone was listening to them. Seeing that no one was paying attention, Li Na slightly bowed her head down, and leaned in closer to Shao Yan to whisper, "Xiao Yan, you missed a big thing that happened here few days ago!"
Shao Yan furrowed her eyebrows and squinted her eyes, "What happened?"
She scanned her eyes around the room, and then she looked back at Li Na, "Everything looks fine, what did I miss? We have newcomers?"
Li Na, seeing that her chance to share a piece of gossip had come, quickly pulled up a chair and placed it next to Shao Yan's.
"You see, there was a big hoo-hah here few days ago!"
Li Na tilted her head to the side, while bringing one hand upwards to support her chin, "Hm.. Was it two days ago or three days ago, I don't remember."
She went silent for a while, and then she clapped both hands in front of her and exclaimed, "Anyway, it doesn't matter," she scooted closer to Shao Yan, "so what happened was, a crazy lady suddenly created a ruckus only for the sake of meeting Risa Yamaguchi."

Shao Yan was confused. 'Someone was looking for trouble with her cousin?' she thought inwardly.
She signaled Li Na to continue, and Li Na quickly said again, "So, first of all, she appeared all of a sudden without any appointment, so the receptionist downstairs denied her visit. She was not allowed to enter the elevator, and was being asked politely to leave."
Li Na told the story animatedly with her hands went around left and right, "And so she just kept giving rude attitude to the receptionist downstairs until finally the receptionist relented and gave the rude lady permission to go up to our office lobby."
Shao Yan was still listening attentively to her story, so Li Na continued to say, "When she arrived on our office lobby, the rude lady demanded to see our CEO right away; she was not even asking for Risa anymore."
"It was a big mess because the lady just spoke so loud, mix in English, Mandarin and Japanese. And at the end, Risa finally came out to the front to check what was going on."
Li Na took a deep breath, "But it was a big mistake!" She gasped, "Because once Risa appeared on front of her, the crazy lady became a maniac and started to throw insults! And even started to grab things, wanted to throw them towards Risa."
Li Na straightened up her body, "See, by this time, a lot of people already gathered around to see what was going on. The rude lady then purposely said to Risa, 'You slut! Did you sleep your way around to get your ass assigned here? It was supposed to be me, you bitch!' and then she lunged forward, wanted to grab Risa by her hair!"
Shao Yan pursed her lips, trying not to laugh out loud. Li Na was telling the story with vigor, and even altered her voice when the scenes changed.
However, Shao Yan was getting impatient, because of the emails that were screaming for her attention in her inbox. She finally tapped her hand on the back of Li Na's hand, "So, what happened in the end? Just skip the drama and tell me the ending."
Li Na quickly resumed herself to calm demeanor, "Oh! Hm.. In the end, someone called security and dragged that crazy woman away."

Li Na slumped back to her chair, "Do you know what I don't understand? I heard that woman is actually a rich heiress, she doesn't even need to work here because her father is already very successful back in Japan."
And then she sighed loudly, "But then rumor has it that she wanted to control the media to help her husband's business, and that's why she was dying to step into the publishing world, for the sake of getting our contacts."
Li Na turned her face to look at Shao Yan. Her face was full of sadness and a little disgusted, "Don't you think it's pathetic, being that selfish for the sake of her own happiness, and she justified her action to be rude to others because of that?"
