Ever since they had the discussion for her betrothal, Shao Yan had been dragged around by Risa and also Mandy to find the dress for the day.

Since it was only a betrothal ceremony, she was thinking for a simple red dress, but her sisters thought otherwise. They dragged her from store to store, trying on so many outfits. From a modern dress, to a hanfu, to another simple dress, and back to cheongsam.

For the past two weeks, all of her lazy days were spent with driving to shopping malls all around the city to find the perfect dress.

Including today.

Today was the weekend and she had another shopping plan with the girls.

"Okay, I'm ready, Ling Ling."

When Shao Yan came out of the room, and she saw Qi Ling was standing in the living room along with Risa and Mandy, she knew right away, that her day would not be easy.

"Alright, our main star is now here, I think we can go now," Qi Ling clapped both of her hands before she picked up her purse from the sofa.

Risa nodded at her words. Swirling the keys in her fingers, Risa added, "Good, I'll drive. Let's go, ladies."

Mandy walked over and linked her arm with Shao Yan's, "Isn't this fun, Yan Yan? This is only shopping for your betrothal dress. Can you imagine the much more fun we will have when we go shopping for your wedding dress?" And then she giggled in excitement, "I can't wait for that!"

Shao Yan slowly glanced at her in horror. She had totally forgotten about that.

Dear god.

Please help her.

No more dress shopping, please!

----------

May 18 came sooner than later.

Grandmother Wu had decided to have the betrothal ceremony done in her tea house.

Her own house was too small to host a lot of people, and so they decided to close the tea house for the day, and have the place for all of themselves.

Butler Wong had been working for Grandma for a very long time. He had helped her with setting up all of her tea houses back in Taiwan, so when Grandma decided to open a shop in Shanghai, she pulled Butler Wong along to travel with her.

Everyone in the tea house addressed him as "Teacher Wong." Other than because of his knowledgeable attitude, his physical appearance with short hair and glasses, reminded everyone of a very strict teacher from their high school.

The fifty year old man had been running around the shop the whole day to make sure the place was squeaky clean.

He checked every clothing of the service attendants to make sure they were perfectly presentable.

The servants had put up simple red cloths decorations around the tea house, along with "double happiness" paper cut stickers.

"Teacher Wong, where should we put this pearl vase? Do you need flowers?"

"Over there, by the foyer table. Put some fresh peonies in them."

"Teacher Wong, Chef Ming needs more scallops and shrimps."

"Go get them from Uncle Xiu. Tell Uncle Xiu we will take more shipment next week."

"Teacher Wong, the gift tables are done."

"Alright, that's good, don't forget to put them under the shades."

And everyone kept chasing him for guidance and directions for the big event today.

----------

Right at ten in the morning, about a dozen fleet of cars started to show up at the end of the road leading up to the tea house.

Butler Wong saw the incoming cars. He pulled over a waiter and hurriedly said, "You go inside and tell Madam that they are here. Go!"

The young man nodded in fluster and shot his feet off there and ran away.

Butler Wong pulled the end of his lapel and made sure to check his own appearance one more time, to make sure he was perfectly presentable.

When the head of the car stooped in front of the tea house, Butler Wong straightened up his back and gotten ready to welcome the Li family.

The driver door was opened, and a very tall, young man stepped out of the car.

He glanced at the tea house entrance and saw Butler Wong along with a few other servers were standing there with a smile; ready to welcome him.

Butler Wong saw the man who was dressed in dark navy blue suit smiling back at him. The young man raised his hand to close the door and walked over towards him.

"You must be Teacher Wong," The young man said as he raised his hand to take off his glasses and put them into his suit pocket. He then positioned both of hands to his chest and clasped them together, performing a traditional Chinese greetings using only both of his fists swaying back and forth in his gestures.

"My name is Li Xiqing, Teacher Wong, nice to meet you."

----------

"Madam, they are here. Tea- Teacher Wong asked me to let you know."

Grandmother Wu nodded and smiled at the young waiter, "Thank you, you may return back to help him."

She turned her body back around, and finished her words to Shao Yan who was sitting on a chair looking up at her.

"Do you remember what you have to do, Yan Yan?"

Shao Yan stuck out her tongue to moist her dry lips, before slowly got up from her seat, "En, Grandma, don't worry. It's only Xiqing and his family. Don't be so nervous."

Grandmother Wu stood in front of her granddaughter.

Her gentle eyes slowly swept all over the young woman.

"Look at you! Looking so beautiful."

"How much you have grown, Yan Yan," Grandmother Wu raised one hand, and brushed her hair gently.

"And now you are about to get marry," Grandmother Wu started to choke but she quickly stopped herself from crying.

"Your parents would be so proud of you today, look at you dressing up so prettily."

Grandmother Wu took both of her hands and gently clasped them with her own.

The two women looked at each other and not saying any words.

Their eyes communicated all the words and messages they wanted to convey to each other.

Every love sparkle, every pride twinkle from their eyes were transmitted to one another.

"We should go now, Grandma," Shao Yan whispered and gently squeezed her hands, "They are here."

Grandmother Wu nodded, and hand in hand, the grandmother-granddaughter duo started to walk out of the room.

The double doors were opened from the outside and Shao Yan slowly lifted up her tiny feet across the door frame.

The gold stilettos on her feet glittered under the sun.

And when she was finally standing outside the room, the whole servants saw a phoenix, clad in a beautiful, lush red feathers, looking up into the sun.

She was waiting for her turn to soar to the sky in glory.
