Chapter 199 - "Arrival, Demon Lord City Yanbarujan."

“Arrival, Demon Lord City Yanbarujan.”

“There it is, Demon Lord City Yanbarujan. We’ve finally arrived.”

“…I-I can’t believe we’re actually here in just a week.”

A week had passed since I was transported to the demon realm. During that time, the only notable events were stopping by settlements similar in size to the village I first arrived at, a couple of times. Other than that, I had been flying continuously using my flight magic.

At first, Sara was screaming in fear, but eventually, she seemed to get used to it and stopped making a fuss. I had been carrying Sara while flying, and I noticed her eyes rolling back into her head, which was a bit concerning.

During breaks and camping, there were occasional monster attacks, mostly around the B-rank or A-rank level. We encountered a group led by Goblin King only once, and it was quickly taken care of with Sara’s [Hellflame Inferno] followed by my [Flame Inferno].

Naturally, my [Flame Inferno] was far more powerful compared to Sara’s, so it completely engulfed the horde of goblins that numbered in the hundreds, leaving behind only charred remains and a scorched field.

It was quite impressive to see Sara’s shocked expression at that, but looking back, her wide eyes while flying might have held the same meaning.

After all these events, we finally arrived at Demon Lord City Yanbarujan. We stopped flying in a secluded area and continued on foot toward the gates of the Demon Lord City.

“Rolando-san, you can see it now. So, what do you think of Demon Lord City?”

“Well, isn’t it amazing? I don’t really know, though.”

After walking for a while, a massive dome-shaped structure came into view. Its size was easily more than a hundred times that of Tokyo Dome – truly befitting the name “Demon Lord City.”

Unlike human cities, with its dome-like shape, it provided excellent defense against aerial intrusion. This alone indicated its high functionality as a city.

As we approached the gates of Demon Lord City, we joined a line of people waiting for their turn to go through the entrance procedures.

“Come to think of it, do we need some kind of pass to enter Demon Lord City?”

“Well, technically, yes. But if you don’t have one, you can still enter by paying a toll.”

According to Sara, to enter Demon Lord City, you could do so without paying a toll if you had an official identification or pass issued by a public institution. Otherwise, you could pay the toll with a type of coin called “Demon Coin,” which was used exclusively in the territory ruled by the demon race. It cost three Demon Coins to pass.

By the way, the currency value in the demon realm wasn’t significantly different from the coins humans used. The main distinction was that demon coins had the prefix “Demon” attached to their name.

Another distinguishing feature was the engraved mark on the coins, a mark of authenticity indicating they were demon race coins. However, Sara explained that this was not due to any magical effect, but rather to avoid confusing them with the coins used by humans.

“I don’t have any of this demon money, you know.”

Of course, I wasn’t a demon but a human. Currently, I had horns on my head and a tan skin color thanks to magic, but my true identity was that of a pure human born to human parents.

It was like asking someone who had never been abroad if they had the local currency of a foreign country. I was facing a similar situation.

In response to my words, Sara reassured me by saying, “Don’t worry. I’ll cover the cost.” However, since I wanted to pay for it myself, I proposed an alternative solution: exchanging the deformed chick plushie that I had stored in my storage for three silver Demon Coins.

“How about this? Can we exchange this and three silver Demon Coins?”

“What’s this?”

“It’s a cute plushie modeled after a baby chick.”

“It’s adorable. Alright, let’s make the exchange.”

“I appreciate it.”

Perhaps due to the cuteness of the plushie, Sara readily accepted my proposal. It worked out well for both of us, so there were no complaints.

“Next.”

Just as I handed over the plushie to Sara, it was our turn. Sara and I paid three silver Demon Coins to the gatekeeper, and the procedure went smoothly.

Passing through the massive ten-meter gate, the cityscape of Demon Lord City came into view. Unlike the common light brown cobblestone streets used by humans, these streets were a slightly darker shade and seemed to carry a faint trace of magic.

Presumably, this unique processing was for some form of magical defense activation. The exact details were unclear, but it was certain that there was something special about them.

Of course, everyone passing by us was a demon, but like humans, they were dressed in various styles. There were men in casual clothing resembling commoners and women dressed in light attire resembling adventurers. In these aspects, they seemed no different from humans.

One noticeable difference from humans was the occasional sight of flying demons. Although their numbers weren’t large, seeing the lack of astonishment from other demons indicated that flying demons were not a novelty but rather a common occurrence.

“Well then, Sara. As promised, I’ve brought you to Demon Lord City. This is where we part ways.”

“Yes, Rolando-san. Thank you very much.”

“By the way, where can I find a Dispel Stone?”

“Oh, right. That was your purpose, Rolando-san. The Dispel Stone is in the ancient temple located to the west of the royal castle over there. It stands out as much older than the surrounding buildings, so you’ll recognize it easily.”

“I see.”

After asking Sara for the location of the Dispel Stone, I thanked her again and bid her farewell. At the parting moment, I said, “Thank you again for everything.” However, I had a feeling that there might be some trouble ahead, so I preferred not to meet again if possible.

“For now, let’s try to find the Adventurer’s Guild. No, it’s called the ‘Demon Hunting Guild’ over here, right?”

During the week-long journey to Demon Lord City, I had learned various things about demons from Sara. Among those, I had heard about an organization similar to the human Adventurer’s Guild, known as the “Demon Hunting Guild.”

This organization mainly consisted of individuals skilled in combat and monster hunting as their profession, which was quite similar to adventurers. However, the significant difference lay in the strength of the monsters they faced.

This was a demon realm plagued by ferocious monsters, and the average rank of these creatures was much higher than what humans encountered – often reaching C-rank or above.

Naturally, those who engaged with these monsters needed to be far more capable than average, requiring at least the strength of a C-rank adventurer or higher to even join the “Demon Hunting Guild.”

This was a testament to the danger that pervaded the demon realm and the level of strength needed to confront these monsters.

However, I was confident that I could easily join the guild. Moreover, if the “Demon Hunting Guild” was the equivalent of a guild in this world, there was a chance that I might witness “that” again – yes, “that.”

“Alright, with that settled, let’s head to the Demon Hunting Guild.”

I spoke those words and began walking toward the “Demon Hunting Guild.”
