Chapter 76: Chef and Croissants

Editor: DoraiO

“Cosette-sama is missing!”

“What did you say? Since when?!”

“That…I don’t know because I just overheard them.”

“That’s bad! Oh, Miss…!”

The Young Lady went missing during the ball.

The Count Edelweiss is in an uproar when the news arrives.

Sebastian, the steward, responded to a messenger from the Crown Prince, but of course, he issued a gag order and informed the senior servants only.

But when the ball was probably over, the Young Lady did not return.

Moreover, the senior servants were pacing to and fro with impatient and anxious faces.

It was only natural for the servants to suspect that something was wrong with the young lady because even the servants love the young lady.

AD

Some of the worried servants stuck to the door, pretending to wipe the place down, while others were peeling vegetables and listening to the voices coming from the window.

Pete, who was peeling potatoes, heard the two of his master’s chambered servants talking anxiously.

“My lady… I wonder if they still don’t know where she is.”

“I understand that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince is looking into it. The floor is going to fall out with the master’s footsteps.”

“The floor doesn’t matter!”

When Pete got the information about the missing missus, he turned blue.

Then he threw out the potatoes he was holding and went to tell everyone who was worried.

“Goruat! Pito-o-o! What the hell are you doing throwing potatoes out there!”

As Pete was talking to the servants who were concerned for the Young Lady, the head chef’s angry voice rang out.

The Head Chef towered over two meters tall and looked down at Pete with his thick, muscle-flaring arms crossed.

The petite Pete is only about as tall as the Head Chef’s chest. He had to look down on him, but the angry Head Chef’s intimidation is not half bad.

His appearance is truly that of a great demon.

AD

The blood vessels on his forehead were pulsing, his eyes are wide open and bleary, and a black aura can almost be seen from behind him.

Pete was so terrified that he almost sat down.

”Hii! Devil…no, Chef! Sorry!”

“Chef, there’s a lot more to it than that! I’m afraid Miss Cosette is missing.”

“What … is that true?”

“Hii! Y-yes, really! Hey, Pete.”

“E-Yes, yes. The senior servants were talking about it, so I’m sure of it!”

“Cosette, my lady, my lady…”

The air around them felt heavy with even more intimidation from the Head Chef’s release.

Pete and the servant woman hugged each other and trembled.

At that moment, the Head Chef swung his thick arms and brought them down with great vigor!

Pete was going to get hit! He felt and squeezed his eyes shut.

AD

Gasp!

“U-uwaaa! It–… doesn’t hurt?”

The Head Chef grabbed Pete by the scruff of his neck with his eyes closed and walked off in silence.

Zulu zulu zulu zulu.

He was dragged to the kitchen.

As it was, he was thrown down to the floor with a heavy thud.

The Head Chef took out what looked like a club from the kitchen table and turned to Pete agilely.

Was Pete going to get hit this time?! He shivered.

“Pete Oooh!”

“H-hi-ya-hii!”

Pete was no longer in tears.

The Head Chef said to Pete, who was pulling and shaking like a wet puppy in the rain.

AD

“Let’s make some bread.”

“Hiiyaa! Excuse me! I’m sorry!”

“Get some flour and butter!”

“Hi-hiyaa! Forgive me! No more throwing potatoes! We don’t peel the onions to the core! And I’ll refrain from eating out of pockets! ….What, flour?”

“I’m making croissants! Hurry up!”

“H-hi-hiyaaii!”

Pete rolled over and ran to the pantry to get some flour.

The Head Chef grabbed his beloved rolling pin as he watched his back.

“I’ll continue to make croissants until the lady returns.”

It was the wish of the Head Chef.

When the Countess returned, a croissant party was held in the house to consume a large number of croissants.
