"A skill was the very essence of what we could achieve, it was the way our mana interacted with the world and you could infer plenty of a [Hero] by what they did or used their [Skill]." Said Agatha to the class of around 80 people in the auditorium.

Elizabeth and Rossie sat somewhat close to the first line of seats, she wondered why those spots were open but Elizabeth decided to not think too much about it and sat herself there with Rossie at her side.

She was quite happy with the seating as she could both take notes and enjoy the company of Rossie with no one near them, as most tried to sit as far away as possible.

Only problem was of course, "But I still have my former [Skill], if anything the new [System] only made it easier to get new ones," Akira of course sat himself behind them.

Because the little...Because the stup...Because...

She wasn't sure why, but if she ever found out that he was ogling at Rossie's chest she would castrate him.

"That is, of course, normal as the new [System] only standardized the broader uses of [Skills], if you have enough mastery over your [Skill] and [Mana] chances are you were able to keep what you had before," Agatha answered without minding the interruption, "As an example if your skill was called [Sylphid Blessing] and allowed you to channel the wind's spirit. But you only used the aspect of manipulating wind. More than likely you only got [Wind Manipulation] and perhaps [Wind Step] & [Fly] from the system."

Agatha wrote her example on the board behind her, "Now if you had [Fire Manipulation] but focused on theatrics and morphed your [Fire] into a [Imp] or a [Fire sprite] chances are the new [System] granted you [Ifri'ts Blessing] as a [Skill]." Now wasn't that tidbit interesting.

She...Hadn't gotten her previous [Skills], nor Chloe's [Skill], but was that because she hadn't used them that much? She abused them as often as she could remember. Then was it because she got a blank slate?

"Can you get access to your former [Skills] then? If you didn't get them at [Induction]." Asked Elizabeth, she was interested in this point. If only to try and summon Nyx and Beato...And attempt to summon Sebastian back.

"Hmph, the coma girl wants to get her skills back? This is why...Why would they even let her in anyway, we are almost about to finish the year." A voice said from the back.

Great, was she going to get a repeat of last year?

"The 'Coma Girl' got a better score than you on the same test you did yesterday." A voice from the top of the seating said, "And she is level 10."

"That same girl also managed to defeat him, and while that isn't much... ," Akira added while pointing to the previous voice, Michael. "Can you claim the same?"

"Even Rena did better than you, and she is merely a passable swordswoman." Akira spat the last part.

And while Rena didn't seem to mind Akira's tone or words, she still said "Trash should know its place," to her defense.

"..." And Rossie only glared in the direction of the first voice. The interloper had turned as white as marble and seemed as fragile too.

"Okay that's enough," Agatha said while clapping her hands. "This is a review and we don't endorse the status shaming of those with worse jobs."

Yikes, way to strike at the nail Agatha.

"It's okay Eli-Eli, don't mind him. Even if he level capped at 99 he still wouldn't have enough Status to get into A-Tier ." Rossie said from her side.

If silence was a way to describe something, she could probably write quite an amount of pages on this, as everyone stood there quietly looking at the interloper, his face gaining a shade of red as he seemed to want to work his rage up. Only to pale again as his eyes caught Rossie's.

"Meaning?" Akira stated, he didn't say anything else.

"He gets around six? Maybe seven? I couldn't care to look further in, he is barely level 45 and only has 358 total status points, quick math says he will cap at level 99 with 736." Rossie said without a care in the world.

"And so, he will be one point away from A-Tier...If he ever manages to get to level 99 that is." Rena said with malice in her voice, her hand suddenly holding a katana. She remembered that one, the red sword that showed such heavy killing intent.

But now? Now it looked....fragile.

"He won't." Rossie stated as a matter of fact, "Not if he keeps trash-talking Eli-Eli."

"Miss Singh, it is rude to peek at someone's else [Status] how did you even manage to penetrate his defense and the school shielding?" Agatha asked while nursing her temples.

"I'm a [Healer], most magic defenses don't fight back against my mana." Rossie answered and left it at that.

Most magic defenses? So her offensive magic could penetrate shielding? Yikes. Healers are scary.

"Even if that is the case don't use it against your fellow students," Agata pleaded from her side. "Or with teachers."

"I mean, if I tried it against other students..." Said Rossie while quickly grabbing her hand and giving it a squish.

The close physical contact was enough for her to pick up on how Rossie's mana radiated outside, and as such she was able to feel as other mana around the room flared.

"See, most people can defend against it easily enough." And while Rossie answered that, Elizabeth was able to feel how Rossie's mana wormed around the flares of mana and seemed to peek inside the people's mana.

If what she was feeling was correct, her Rossie had managed to peek in almost everyone else, barred Michael, Akira, Rena, and Agatha.

Elizabeth?

Of course, she wasn't able to refuse Rossie's mana, if anything her own mana seemed to welcome it, hug it, coddle it, and even snuggle with it. She may need to check on that.

"And while this wasn't the reason for this class, it will do. This is your reminder that you need to shore on your weak areas." Agatha seemed to surrender at that. "As for the question Miss Starbright asked..."

And when she was about to continue the class Elizabeth felt...Something, it was hard to describe, almost as if someone was staring at her, but not with his or her eyes.

She tried to look closer with her mana to see if she could find the source of it.

Notice:

Privacy Skill Level up.

Privacy Level 1 > Privacy Level 3

That showed up and just as soon as the weird feeling disappeared, she however heard a whimper on the seats at the back, and the glare seemed to intensify.

"It is possible to cultivate your [Skill] back to what it was before, but you may need to either practice in a way that the [System] identifies the former skill was made. Or fuse several [Skills] to get the same result." Agatha said while giving examples on the board for those types of fusions.

Such as Fusing [Lighting Bolt] with [Mana Spear] to get [Lighting Spear] and then fusing that with [Running] or one of those variants, and moving on with skills on the same theme such as [Strength] or other buff skills, all in an attempt to get a skill called [Zeus's Might].

Why would anyone even want that, god knows. But it was the example given.

"Of course, if you manage to do that you would get what we call [Unique Skill], as the name states only one or very few can access these types of skills at the same time," Agatha said while writing below the Zeus's Might skill that.

"Wouldn't that be a [Divine Skill]?" Akira asked from the side, "It is the name of a [God]."

"...We don't have evidence of [Divine Skills], unless you finally wish to give your full [Status]?" Agatha answered back.

"Not a chance." And of course, Akira didn't relent that information, "Get your own [Divine Skill]."

"Then that is that, isn't it? No one has revealed a [Skill] beyond [Unique] nor a [Title] with said effects, as such the cap stays at [Unique] for now." Agatha didn't even write the [Divine] thing on her board.

"But what about [Affinities]?" Elizabeth asked remembering that while her skill let her do most of what she did before. Her [Origin]...She wasn't quite sure what part of her skillset came from that.

"Now that is harder to deal with," Agatha answered, "See we never quite understood them before, while we had some spells that could tell us what [They read]. We didn't had the [System] to straight up tell us what they did."

Agatha started again writhing that long list she had given before, the one with multiple [Origins] on it, "Now for the example before...Let's see..." She started erasing [Origin] after [Origin] and only left a couple on the board.

"This one [Moonlight Blessing], this one would probably translate as [Bless], [Heal], [Mana Manipulation], [Light Manipulation], and finally [Shadow Manipulation]." Agatha rounded up the skill list, five of the ten already used up by that. "That means that her [Job] would be highly affected, and in turn she would end with: [Magical Girl - Moonlight] as either a [Rare] or [Variant] job."

Interesting...So had Rossie gotten the same treatment? She hadn't been too interested in what spells she used before...And while she should be able to take a peek in her spell nodes, that felt like a blatant breach of trust.

"Didn't that happen to you?" Asked Agatha bringing her back from her musings, and that in turn also made her notice how most of the class was looking at her.

"I mean, I got this." Elizabeth said while molding the shadow of her hand so it could rise from her desk, "And while I can do most of what I did before. I am not sure how my [Affinity] translates into the [Skills] I got."

"So you were indeed a [Magical Girl]..." Agatha smiled at that, "But a [Shadow Aligned] one huh...That would be hard to teach...Was that why I didn't got a firm impression?"

Was she really asking her why her memories had been deleted? Ask [Mother]!

"No wait, did you knew your [Affinity]?" Agatha seemed to latch on the crux of the problem.

"Yes, I was [███ ██████ ██████]." Elizabeth said only for everyone in the room to cover their ears and clutch their head as if something very awful sounding had been brought into the classroom.

"Okay everyone, and that is why we don't speak of [Affinities] if you know what is yours." Agatha said as she summoned a [Magic Circle] and she felt a soothing mana spread all around the room.

Did she have [Healing] spells too?

"Miss Starbright, whatever your previous [Affinity] was, it was most than likely on the [Rare] or [Very Rare] variant types," Agatha said as she wrote some [Origins] on the board. "The more normal ones are these: [Fire], [Wind],[Healing]. These usually have [Magic] at the end, but we will omit that since it is redundant."

Quite right on that, "Then we have: [Basic Elementalalist], [Fire Elemental Mastery], [Healing Mastery], etc. You get the point, [Affinities] that give a second meaning or translate into something you understand as something either more broad or more advanced. The more specific it was, the better," And in that part, Agatha sneakily wrote her own previous [Origin].

And at this point, she wrote others, "After that, we move to [Rare] or [Very Rare] ones, such as : [Moonlight Blessing], [Sylphid Blessing], [Healing Fairy]...we move to phrases with actual intent or meaning. These tend to be the ones that can do special things, genius of their own generation are here, for example, if one had [Magic Attunement] it would mean that while they don't have fancy magic, they would have a natural attunement towards magic, and in such case, they would advance faster than others." Like Michael, wasn't that his [Origin] actually?

Interesting... "And after?" Elizabeth asked, her own previous [Origin] didn't seem to fit quite well in that description.

"Afterwards...It's the territory of true prodigies, we don't actually have examples of those, but if I had to haphazard a guess it would be : [The Space Traveling Wanderer], [The Sacred Sword of the Lake], [Messenger to the gods], [Hero of the century], [The Second Coming of Merlin]." Agatha finished her exposition on that.

And she couldn't help but feel...Awkward, those pompous sounding [Origins] were a thing?

What kind of magic would [The sacred sword of the lake] even give?

"Is this a Joke?" Asked Michael, "I thought the final part would be more amazing sounding, but what is even [Space Traveling wanderer]. What kind of low-effort kind of [Mage] would even use something like that?"

Her [Mother] that was something that her [Mother] would use, hell, that was probably close enough to what her [Origin] was if she would guess.

"The [Affinities] at that level are phrases, and these are examples. We don't have actual proof of someone that stood at that level, or not before. A shame that the world before was that focused against [Shadow] users. If not Miss Starbright wouldn't have been sent to the midterms that far away. And we would probably have advanced more in the time she was away for sickness." Agatha seemed downcast at that.

"So? How do we find out her [Affinity]?" Akira asked from behind her, what did he want her [Origin] for?

She didn't like the dangerous glint in his eyes either, "We can't. Not unless either she gets more power or we find an A-Tier Mage to try and fish it from her [Soul]. If we could still access the [Soulscape] we could maybe try to prod it for the [Title] as before. But that is no longer possible." Agatha answered back.

Oh right...They couldn't access their [Soulscape], no wait. Did Akira even have one?

Rossie had one, but she was a mage, and Akira had the whole [Coming from another world]...But Rossie did too and she had one...She would stop thinking about it, thinking more would mean that she could end up trying to pull him towards her [Shadow Haven] and she didn't want that.

"Hmm....Elizabeth, can you try to say it again? I will power up all my skills, maybe I can stand it." Akira asked while she felt his mana try to ramp up, only for it to be crushed by a magic circle floating above him.

He immediately glared behind her, towards Agatha. "Do that in your free time... After you confirm the other party wants to share that information with you."

Akira grunted and sat back, it was only at that point that she noticed Rena was holding her katana and glaring daggers at Agatha, her eyes seemed to scream murder...Yikes.

"And you Miss Starbright, while the [Soulscape] is no longer accessible, we can't know if that will be the case forever, so the fewer people that know its name and or form, the better..." Aww, Agatha was worried for her!

But yes, that had been a mistake, at least they hadn't been able to hear to the name of her [Origin], she didn't know why that had happened. Did her [Origin] as [The Shadow Weaver] hold some meaning?

Huh, she could think of that one without getting it parsed as something else? But [Father] and [Mother] weren't possible.

Weird, what was the difference?

"...It shouldn't be a problem if she wants to share its [Meaning] with [Me] then." Akira stood there, in clear defiance against Agatha.

Also, was he implying that she would share her [Soulscape] with him?

"...If she wants to share it with [you] that is." Rossie said from her side glaring at Akira.

This wasn't missed by Rena who glared at Rossie, she seemed conflicted as if her glare should include her though.

...Kinda cute? Almost cute? She wasn't sure how to feel about Rena, before she would just straight up dismiss her, but after finding the state of her [Soul] and the similarities she had with Rossie...And the dread about how Rossie would have ended up like her.

Yeah, she couldn't bring herself to hate her.

"The [Affinity] of a [Mage] is the most important part of their skill set, be it before or now." Michael said from the side as he closed a book, did he fish a book just to close it and look cool? "I know the rabble seem to throw at your whims, but that is the [Rabble], do not expect a [Mage] to be like them, Akira."

"...mind your words, lest you find yourself in danger with no guards near you. Mage." Rena said from her spot at the side of Akira.

How could she deal with the stress of making enemies every day?

"You are right Michael. I wouldn't think of Elizabeth as mere rabble. I just want what is best for her." Akira said while throwing Rena to the side, rude!

Also, she was right here! She knew what was best for her! She already had it too!

"If, and this is a very big if, I ever become able to say my [Affinity] without hurting anyone, I will think about sharing it with those close to me, as Miss Agatha said, we don't know if the [Soulscape] will become a thing again in the future, it was silly of me to even attempt to share it." Also she only said her previous [Origin] because her current [Soulscape] didn't look like before, but thinking on that again, maybe her [Origin] is related to the current form of her [Soulscape], so better to not share that one...Again...Ever.

"See, she will share it with those close to her, so no one has any say in the matter." Akira said as he sneered at Michael.

Did he think he was close to her? Because he wasn't close to her, at all.

Even Rena had more chances of becoming close to her than he, should she clarify that? If the stories her [Mother] told her were something to go by...He wouldn't understand her, at all, and would only convince himself that they were closer the more she tried. So she didn't even attempt to fix that misunderstanding.

Instead, she only grabbed Rossie's hand that seemed to be twitching, and gave her a subtle shake of her head, they would get their chance at dealing with Akira.

In a more desolated place, she would need to get more spells first though, spells dedicated to hiding evidence, and maybe fix Rena's Soul?

Now how she would go about doing that though...So much work.
