"That covered [Affinities], now. Why did we bring this up?" Agatha asked the whole class.

This time, however, no one seemed to want to breach the question. At least till Akira got tired and said "You are finally going to tell us why they told us at the start of the year to not worry about our disguises?"

They what? Oh right, powereds had to come up with disguises. Not that Akira or Rena had taken too much effort into it, since Akira straight up only put on a Japanese uniform, while Rena only used a red hoodie with a face mask.

"Yes, today we will reveal the test by which we will decide if you are apt to move to third year." Agatha erased all that she had written on the board and instead started writing something different, " Some of you already can do this, for those of you who can do you will need to grab another student and teach him or her the skill."

"Does that include me?" Asked Elizabeth raising her hand, she after all, also knew how to use that particular [Skill].

"You know how to use this skill?" Asked Agatha, only to slap herself in the face, "Of course, you know how to use it...Care to demonstrate for the class?"

Right, she suspected her [Job] was [Magical Girl], as such the [Skill] should be in the ones granted for her, she however, wasn't sure it had come from that, since she had the skill before too.

"I mean sure...but what about the [Nodes]?" Elizabeth asked, "Wasn't this spell one that one needed to customize the [Nodes] first?"

"It was like that yes, but after it became a skill then [Shift] moved from [Spell] to [Magic Skill - Shift], that is what those that don't have the skill will learn. The system grants [Privacy], [Safeguard], [Mend] and [Decency]." Agatha wrote on her board, "Sometimes the [System] will grant extra ones, and you can turn off then as you wish in your own [Status] menu."

She eyed the nodes, then noticed something in her wording "So what happens if one tries to cast the [Spell] instead of the [Skill]?" Or one tried to use a [Skill] that wasn't [Magic Skill] but only [Skill] was unsaid, she didn't want to tip her hand...yet.

"You get no assistance from the [System] and since we can't access the [Soulscape] then we can't personalize the [Nodes], or appearance. It's harder to do for no benefit, we will cast it like that for the class trying to get proficiency for the [Magic Skill], mostly using your experience and that of those that already have the [Skill]. But it is advised to use the [System] skill since the reason we learn the [Skill] is to benefit from the [Privacy] node." And as such the teacher started writing the description of the nodes.

Spell Node

[Privacy]

Prevents the effect of [Identify] type skills from showing the identity behind the user.

[Safeguard]

Grants protection equal to the amount of mana used on the skill.

[Mend]

Repairs the outfit from damages using Mana as fuel.

[Decency]

Prevents the user from exposing too much, and obscures sight from under the skirt or blouse.

"Are you for real?" Akira said as he read the contents of the whiteboard, "Why does the system care if some random girl gets or not a panty shot? If they didn't want that they wouldn't use miniskirts."

...Was he for real?

"...Just because someone uses a skirt that is no excuse to point a camera under her skirt at the first chance you get. The original [Spell] was made with the idea of protecting the mind of the [Magical Girls]... and to protect the soldiers." Agatha said in a slow and easy to understand tone.

"To protect the soldiers? What do they have to do with a stupid waste of mana like obscuring the content under the skirt?" Akira asked, wait a second, did he call it [Content]?

"The [Magical Girl] started being deployed during the First World War as you all know, in those times the [Council Of Magical Girls] tended to kill anyone that even had such a picture or shared it, the armed forces as such asked if it was possible to obscure under the skirts of the [Magical Girls] since while they could ask for their soldiers to not look, most of them fought in the air. And while some were understanding...Others not so much." Agatha explained it, again, in a slow and easy-to-understand manner.

"Could someone save mana and empower their [Shift] by discarding such useless node?" Akira asked after, was he really that focused on that part?

"...Not by much, the [Decency] Node isn't that expensive, to begin with, and most of that power is subsidized by the [System]. You are free to go without it if you wish." Agatha then moved to more important matters like pointing at Elizabeth. "Now Miss Starbright, front and middle, we do need to make sure your [Shift] is stable enough to use. I assume yours isn't a [Spell]?"

"It's a [Skill] yes, should I just use it then?" Elizabeth asked while trying to picture one of her former [Shift] forms, but no matter how hard she focused she couldn't feel the [Connection] to those forms again. Had they been reset?

"Yes, just to make sure. You can also use the [Spell] right? You will need to teach it to someone in class after all." Agatha said while grabbing a list with all the students in class, among them only Michael had the checkbox for [Magic Skill - Shift] marked.

Didn't Rossie know the [Spell] too?

"Before you ask, Miss Singh does not have the [Skill] so she needs to either accept it or get more proficiency on it. She rejected it the first time it was offered and as such needs a better understanding of it to have it offered again. But someone didn't feel like using the [Spell] while on vacation." Agatha sighed while saying that part.

"I was busy!" Rossie defended herself with a grunt, and wasn't that the truth.

"Yes, I know both the [Mandala] and the [Formulae] for it, " and so Elizabeth tried to either call her [Shadow Empress] or [Elemental Weaver] form...to no avail.

"Whenever you are ready." Agatha said, "No pressure, even if you fail, we will understand, at worst we will still pair you with someone else to practice."

So understanding...where the hell had been this version of Agatha one year ago?

But still, she had the skill, she knew how it worked...So maybe she just needed to use it and let it run wild? At worst, she could personalize it later again in her [Soulscape].

So getting a feel for her mana she focused on the [Skill] within her status and intoned "[Shift] " and as the words left her mouth, she felt a [Weight] coming into her.

The mana within her veins seemed to focus inwardly, as if searching for something, soon she felt said mana scour her body and then focus into her [Soul], once there it flooded into her [Soulscape] what she had come to call the [Shadow Haven].

There it seemed to search everywhere as if looking for something, in the end, it focused on the building in the middle, and in what felt like an eternity it flooded outward.

She felt a new addition to the room within the tower she had awoken, a small PC on a desk, but she didn't have time to think about that, as the telltale magical circle of a [Shift] formed under her feet.

"This is what some [Magical Girls] call a transformation sequence, it isn't obligatory to have one, but some of the more...dramatic included [Magical Girls] liked to have one." Agatha started to narrate as the mana seemed to weave itself into her clothes as these turned into a white blinding light, "Sometimes a [Magical Girl] may include a [Chant], also not necessary, but it seems to [Boost] the power of the [Shift] so you may add one at your convenience."

Right...She also had a [Chant]... Maybe that was why she hadn't been able to connect to her former [Shifts]?

No wait, if this wasn't one of her former shifts...was this a new one?

"As you can see the [Transformation] is almost over, how are you feeling [ █████████ ]? " Agatha asked her, she didn't manage to hear her name though. Instead she heard static... Such nostalgic feeling, "As you can see, Miss... Whatever her [Shift] name is, it’s under the protection of the [Privacy] Node. As such even though I know her full name, I can't share it since I'm not in her [Whitelist]. The [System] is the one enforcing that [Node] so she only needs to [Will] me into it..."

Then Agatha turned to her and almost glared at her "DO NOT, under any circumstance, add someone to said [Whitelist] unless you trust that person with your life." Yikes, "That includes teachers,"

The silence from that one was quite interesting, since no one seemed to be sure what to say at that, "Now onto more important notes, what should we call you? Usually, the [System] grants you a name with the [Shift]. It should be in your [Status]."

Elizabeth took this chance to look into her [Status], she seemed to be wearing something similar to an armor, but unlike her [Shadow Empress] one, this seemed to be lighter, she could see a white blouse on her chest and a skirt. She also seemed to be wearing some kind of helmet?

She wasn't sure as her sight wasn't impeded, "Let me see...I'm..." And then she saw the name and started laughing.

"Something funny?" Asked Agatha arching one of her eyebrows at her.

"No, sorry. Didn't expect to see that one..." Smiled Elizabeth while reading once more her new form's name, "Greetings everyone. I'm [The Stardust Weaver]."

At least she wasn't called [The Stardust Crusader], that would have been a problematic name to have...and to explain. For some reason, she thought her [Shift] would have turned her into a muscle mass if she ever had it, not sure why.

"Now that is one interesting [Name], usually your [Name] have some connotation with your [Skillset] or [Background] so most tend to change as soon as possible...As far as we know from your testing you do not have [Space] skills?" Agatha asked aloud.

"I do have knowledge of [Space] attribute magic and a few tricks son that thematic, but no. I was not a [Space] focused mage." Elizabeth answered with a smirk on her face, "I do know why I got that [Name], it relates to my [Mother] probably."

At that mention, Agatha's face betrayed an emotion she didn't expect to see in her. Pity.

Most of the other students didn't see the problem and Akira even shrugged at that mention, only Rossie seemed to be thinking about it. "Nothing important really, my..." Elizabeth started saying while wondering if she would get weird looks by using [Idea] to speak about her [Mother], so instead she said "...my mama liked to travel. So perhaps that's why I got the [Stardust] part?"

"...It is..." Agatha started saying, Elizabeth could almost see the [Impossible] forming in the teacher's mind, "...difficult to point down the reason for the [Names] the [System] grants us, so yeah...It could be the reason why, especially in the more [Magically] aligned families."

Huh, she didn't try to deny it, but she also didn't straight up accept it. Not that Elizabeth would mind either, she [Knew] her [Mother] was the one behind it, probably not behind her new outfit. Since this one seemed to be more aligned with a [Technological] side of [Magic].

And her [Mother] was all about frilly dress and traditional [Magical Girls], was her [Father] the one at fault? It could be, but she doubted it.

"So, anything interesting with the [Shift]?" Asked Agatha bringing her back from her musings.

"Let me see..." Elizabeth said while focusing her mana on her new [Shift], she could feel the small little metal parts of her outfit. Her waist had a part of armor on the side that seemed to hide a couple of mana exhausts from where she should be able to cast spells...

Perhaps it was designed to allow her to use wind spells as propulsors? If the metallic wings hidden on her back were something to go by then that was probably the function.

She was wearing a part of metallic boots that hid the same type of exhaust ports too, a few on the side of her legs and then one in the sole of her boots. So this one was designed to allow her ease of fly?

"There!" Elizabeth exclaimed and the wings on her back opened in all their glory, "I have wings!"

She was quite happy with her wings, even if they seemed fragile and slim, her helmet also dropped a visor on her face with a mental prompt hiding her eyes, it seemed to work as some kind of [Information] thing that brought a passive [Appraisal] of anything she saw. Useful.

"This can be a good example class." Agatha said while grabbing her by one of the wings.

Weird, she could feel that, but couldn't explain for her life how that felt.

"Miss [Stardust Weaver] has some fragile parts on her armor, right?" Agatha asked while poking her thin wings.

"Yes~" The whole class answered, minus Rossie, Rena, Michael, and Akira.

The four heroes were in synch.

"But If I do this..." Agatha said while molding mana in her fingers, she wouldn't... "[Fire bolt]"

She did, also rude! Also ouch!

"Not a damage, this would break most D-Tier defensive spells or armors. But as you can see Miss [Stardust Weaver] has not been damaged. If any of you could pierce her [Privacy] defense you would also find that neither her [Mana] nor [HP] diminished." Agatha continued her class while she was having a hard time trying to not think about why she could feel what her [Wings] touched, but it seemed that this didn't parse to pain.

That hadn't hurt her beyond the element of surprise.

"So this means that her [Shift] is at least C-Tier." Agatha finished her presentation.

"Then our [Shifts] will be as powerful as us?" Asked Akira from his seat, hunger reflected in his eyes.

"Yes, unless you make it weaker, but that requires talent in itself, and if you have that [Talent] you wouldn't do that since it could put your life in danger," Agatha answered quickly enough while summoning a book per student (Minus Michael and her). "Now pair up and start trying to achieve a [Shift]. Michael, [Stardust Weaver], pick a student and start explaining how you manage to [Shift]."

Michael grabbed the closest (Not Rossie, Akira, or Rena) student near him and dragged him to the back of the room.

Rena grabbed her book and closed to Akira intent on studying with him, while Akira seemed to be thinking about something, and before he even tried to speak "Rossie! Let's go to that corner and practice, I'm sure you will be able to do it easily enough!" She used her trap card [Call Rossie] to disregard any interference.

It wasn't Akira only either, half the male students in the room sat down when Rossie smiled and stood up, also some of the female students also seemed disgruntled by it.

She understood the male half, but the females too? Yikes, her body was simply too sinful it seemed.

"Sure thing [Stardust Weaver], but I might need a more [Personal] council, we may need to get [Very personal] since I need more [Proficiency] for that [Skill] " Rossie seemed to do purr some of those words.

Not that she minded, it resonated quite well in her ears, "Sure thing, let me ask Agatha if we can go to a room in the library, the proof sounding should be good enough to get rowdy with the practice." Elizabeth answered.

"Okay okay! Let me stop you two there!" Agatha came in walking quite fast with a blush on her face, "No. Nope, not dealing with [That]. No sir, I don't get paid enough for it."

What?

"What?" Asked Elizabeth.

"Is there a problem Miss? We just want to get some [Practice] with the [Homework] you asked of us." Rossie said after her.

"And I'm a teenager ninja in my free time," Agatha huffed, "You will practice the [Shift] Spell here till you master it, if. And this is a big [If], if for whatever reason you don't manage to master it, THEN you may practice it on the [VERY] Public arena. No spellcasting on the libraries."

"...Tch." Rossie said under her breath in a low tone, "Fine, let me focus then."

And so her Rossie started building the mandala for the spell, she half focused on how she was building it while her mind sank into her [Soulscape] materializing in the apartment she shared with Rossie inside.

The small Rossie was there with the pink grimoire open searching for a page, on it was a half-constructed mandala, the same one Rossie was building.

"Let me help you with that. “Let me help you with that." Both soulscape Elizabeth and real world spoke at the same time.

And while the half that was within the [Soulscape] started drawing on the pink-grimoire, the one in the real world traced the corrections to the mandala Rossie was drawing.

So the pink-haired girl was able to see the errors and fix them, it seemed [The System] was hiding some knowledge about the [Shift] spell, since Agatha was staring with empty eyes at her modified mandala.

Same as Rossie, but the difference was that Rossie seemed to be able to half see it, she wasn't sure if that was because she had traced it on the [Soulscape] or because of their new [Link] made with [Heroic Party].

Not that it mattered since Rossie managed to fix the errors in the mandala and in turn cast the spell...

In the end, it hadn't been enough for a first-try success, but that was okay too, she had all the time in the world to wait for Rossie's success. Would she help others? Maybe Rena if she asked, but she wasn't going to help Akira.

Not that he needed help, the kid managed to activate his [Shift] all by himself before the class ended. Good for him, she was half sure Rossie didn't claim success on purpose just to make sure she wouldn't spend time with someone else.

But that was okay with her, the more time she could spend with Rossie the better. She only wondered why Agatha kept stealing glances at them and blushing... was she into her?

...She wouldn't share Rossie, not even if she was nice to her. No sir, Rossie was all for her!
