"And now that we have a few examples of successful shifts, we can move to the next part, your homework." Agatha said when the clock said that the class was about to end.

At this point besides a few cases (Two students under the care of Agatha, Rossie, Akira, Rena, and one girl under Michael) had achieved the [Shift]. She would of course check in the [Soulscape] how it looked for Rossie.

"In the world before the [System] one could tweak the [Shift] spell as much as they liked, nowadays...Not so much, you can somewhat affect the [Magic Skill - Shift] with effort, but the changes are less visible than before." Agatha said while tracing the magic circle for [Shift] in the air with her mana. "So your job will be to try and tweak it."

...That wasn't that bad?

"That's all?" Asked Akira in a cocky tone.

"Yes, should you manage to tweak it you will earn extra points and experience, no doubt the system must have rewarded Miss [Stardust Weaver] and [The Sage] with plenty of points for successfully teaching another student a [Magic Skill]," Agatha added with a smile on her face as she looked at her and Michael.

He had [Shifted] at some point to make an example to the girl he was teaching, the poor thing one almost could see stars in her eyes. And he was there standing trying to act [Cool].

Men.

But that brought her attention to something else, did she get a notification for teaching Rossie?

Notice:

You have made a remarkable achievement!

For managing to teach a lost skill to another as a [Inductee] the [System] has deemed you worthy of a special reward.

[Inductee] Title will be converted into flat experience.

Level 10 >15

For managing to secure the acquisition of a [Lost Skill] instead of the regular [Magic Skill] that the populace is learning you will be granted extra proficiency to your skill [Shift].

Shift Level 2>3

Proficiency in the skill [Teaching] acquired, do you wish to slot [Teaching: 2]?

Y/N

"What?" Elizabeth mumbled to herself as she re-read the notification and then moved to read her [Status]

Yep, her [Inductee] title was no longer there but her level had risen by 5, granting her 105 extra status points to allocate.

"Hmph, a negligible amount of experience." Michael said while making a motion with her hand as if batting away a mosquito.

Show off.

"Everything fine Eli-Eli?" Rossie asked on her side, she felt a mana wave coming from her that seemed to originate from her eyes, "Oh...Yes, everything is fine "

Did this cheeky girl just [Identify] her?

She didn't feel anything from her [Privacy] tho

Oh right, Rossie's mana seemed to have free access to her...She really needed to check on that, she didn't mind it if it was only Rossie. But anyone else that got that kind of access would be dangerous, god only knows what someone like Akira with his slimy mana would do should he earn himself this kind of access.

"Usually, the experience gain is negligible as [The Sage] stated, but then again. Usually, that is measured in the levels of teachers or other active [Magical Girls] helping normal [Heroes] learn the skill." Agatha started saying, "And while [The Sage] seems to be on the higher end of the spectrum... Miss [Stardust Weaver] should be on the lower end, was the earning good?"

Now, how should she answer that...Honesty? Showing off? Cryptic?

"I lost my [Inductee] Title since the [System] deemed me advanced enough, it granted me extra experience to compensate me, so I'm not sure how good of a reward it was... It did advance my [Shift] skill a level though." In the end, Elizabeth decided half cryptic with some truths sprinkled here and there.

"Smart girl, this class is how you should always answer. No reason to give away your levels that easily. Miss [Stardust Weaver] may have lost the advantages that the [Inductee] can grant, but she recoups them by advancing her [Magic Skill - Shift] to level 2!" Agatha praised her achievements, even if there seemed to be a misunderstanding there, "This [Skill] is harder to level since there is only so much [Proficiency] you can earn by using it, at best you will plateau at level 1. The real [Proficiency] is earned by modifying the [Shift], but again, without access to the [Soulscape] that is but a mere dream."

...She had it at level 3 tho.

"And so you are giving us an impossible goal." Akira spat with a frown on his face, "If you can't get [Proficiency] on the stupid skill why does it have a level? I need to file a complaint to the [GM]."

He wanted to file a complaint to what?

She had some knowledge about games since some of her [Father]'s friends liked those topics, so she was aware of what a GM was, a [Game Master]. Some kind of administrator to the bigger multiplayer games.

But did he think this world had [GM]'s?

At best that would be her [Father] and [Mother] right? Was he mad?

"Mister Akira, we aren't sure if the skills are impossible to level up. The best [Mage] we currently have has this skill at level 2. And that is one of the [Nine Stars]." Agatha said, "The mere fact that Miss [Stardust Weaver] achieved this at her level, places her at the same level as [The Elementalist], [The Prophet], and [The Warlock]."

She was sure the former group of twelve had other 2 mages, why weren't they mentioned?

"Aren't there more [Magic] users in [The Nine Stars]?" That felt wrong to say, but Elizabeth needed to know.

"...We aren't sure, after the [Advent] their group lost a few members and earned others. Besides [Framework] and [Odyssey], some people think they were members, others that they weren't." Agatha answered her question, people thought her [Parents] weren't in the group of the mightiest heroes?

She couldn't help but laugh at the idea.

"Miss [Stardust Weaver]?" Agatha asked as she allowed the mana in her [Shift] to fade away and so she returned to her normal clothes.

This time her body hadn't changed that much, unlike how her [Elemental Weaver] form that was younger... Or how her [Shadow Empress] form that was more...Aerodynamic.

Her current [Stardust Weaver] form was quite in line with her normal body, "Oh sorry, what kind of excuse are they making up to say that [Mother] wasn't part of the most powerful group of [Heroes] in the world? If she wasn't part of that group, then what group was she part of?" Elizabeth asked while still giggling.

"Ain't that the question...Most of us that are part of her...Teachings, do think that she was either part of the former iteration of [The Nine Stars] or that she was the president of the [Council Of Magical Girls]." Agatha said, she had taken some time to finalize her stance on what she taught of [Mother].

"Oh right, you aren't a follower of her [Church], right, Miss Agatha?" Elizabeth asked, curious, since she had changed this much, she thought that maybe she didn't hold a grudge against her [Mother] anymore.

"Sorry Miss Starbright, while I respect [Odyssey] as I told you before, I'm not a follower of her [Church]. Even if [Odyssey] doesn't shut herself from my daily life." Agatha answered in a somewhat apologetic tone.

Did she think she was a [Follower] of [Odyssey]?

"Oh it's okay, I don't follow her [Church] either," Elizabeth said in a bright tone, "[Mother] wouldn't mind speaking with her, but I for one don't wish to have her looking over my shoulder 24/7."

This however seemed to be taken with more weird looks thrown her way, Akira seemed miffed about it, as if he wasn't sure how to react to that. It was kinda funny since Rena nodded her head as Rossie did, both girls seemed to understand her feelings. She didn't mind having Rossie as a kindred spirit, but having Rena understand her...It was weird.

Michael for his part, however, seemed to be having a harder time with this, she wondered why. Agatha had confirmed before that being a follower of her didn't mean that one was better at magic. So why did he seem so weirded out by this discovery?

"And yet you call her [Mother]." Michael stated from the back.

"Nothing I can do about it, the [System] seems intent on patching it like that." Elizabeth answered back, immediately regretting saying it.

"So what are you trying to say then?" Akira asked, a sharp look in his eyes.

Dang it.

"Doesn't matter, since anything I say will be parsed as those words. I will say that my memories weren't as affected as everyone else. So while I do remember more, there is no way to prove my memories are real." Elizabeth answered with a shrug, "Do you care for my answers then?"

Akira seemed to think it for a few seconds before standing up and leaving the room, immediately afterward the bell rang, signaling the end of the class, would it be too hard to answer before leaving ?!?

"Sorry about that Elizabeth, Akira doesn't mean anything rude from it." Rena hurriedly came to her seat and apologized in Akira's stead, "Now excuse me, I do need to catch up to Akira, he will need money for his lunch."

...What?

"...Is she paying for his food?" Elizabeth mumbled astonished.

"Hmm...Eli-Eli!" Rossie said while tugging at her arm. "Let's go eat, I will pay!"

"...Don't forget to try and edit your [Shift], do take pictures of your [Shift] before attempting the change since we require evidence of progress. And we will be testing your ability to summon the modified [Shift]!" Agatha said behind them as they left the classroom.

She was more worried about other things, such as making sure Rossie didn't bring her to the same cafeteria that Akira and Rena were going. Or that they didn't end in the same one as Michael... Not that she had something against him, but she would rather limit her interactions with the other 3 heroes.

Since now she had a [Hero] title herself, she didn't want more links to them, she was still unsure about if she really needed to link herself to [Rena] in order to save her... Or if she even wanted to be saved.

"Say, Rossie, I was supposed to keep the [Inductee] till level 26, but it turned into flat experience and bumped me to level 15." Elizabeth started saying while they sat at a table somewhat isolated.

Not because no one was seated there, it was a cafeteria and it was full of people, but mostly because most of them left their seats as soon as Rossie glared in their direction.

Wonder why?

Maybe they wanted to give them lovebirds some free space to enjoy some semblance of solitude?

Probably not, but Elizabeth liked to think it was that, and not the obvious fear in their eyes as soon as Rossie glared in their direction, she would need to investigate on that and fix any kind of misunderstanding they had about her Rossie.

Surely, she didn't deserve this kind of treatment, didn't they know that you needed to keep your [Healer] happy, lest you risk they arrive late to healing you?

"But you got [Experience] towards [Shift] right? Wonder why it converted 11 levels into only one level of [Proficiency]. I would understand if it was towards level 3..." Rossie mumbled while frowning her cute little forehead.

"Oh right, that. I didn't level it to level 2, but to level 3. My [Shift] skill is level 3." Elizabeth said while wondering if she should get a menu or search for a way to order stuff.

She hadn't actually eaten in this cafeteria in the first year, since they always ate at their apartment. But since it was the first day and they hadn't gotten their groceries sorted out they would eat at the cafeteria.

What had she done the last year instead of eating here? O right, she had been bleeding out after trying to use [Proliferation] for the first time...Good times.

"Beg you pardon?" Rossie asked, while she snapped her fingers and gave a note to a student (Another pink-haired girl) who quickly scurried away towards the serving area.

Funny, they had servers?

She didn't notice any special uniform on that girl, if anything she looked like another student instead of a worker. "Yes, my [Shift] skill survived the [Induction], it reseted to level 2...But now it's back to level 3." Elizabeth said, while wondering what Rossie had ordered for her.

"...Yeah, that makes sense, now that you say it. I didn't get the [Magic Skill - Shift] but the [Shift] skill too." Rossie said while reading her own status, she, of course, knew that since the girl was staring straight ahead and a little below her sternum.

She of course didn't think so lowly of Rossie to think she was staring at her chest in public, no sir. She also wasn't somewhat blushing at the idea of Rossie licking her chest with her eyes, no sir. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.

"So? What does it do?" Rossie asked after staring at her chest for half a minute suddenly looking straight at her.

"I mean, they are mostly for aesthetic reasons...Mama didn't have much on that side always making herself more modest in her chest, but if you like them this size, I don't mind keeping them..." Elizabeth started rambling while being overly conscious about her chest, so straight to the point!

So direct!

Her Rossie didn't mind the place or the time!

"...[Shift] Eli-Eli, what advantages does it have at level 2 and 3." Her Rossie said.

Oh...That...right, that makes more sense. Yes, of course, it was that, no. She wasn't feeling ashamed for jumping to conclusions, also no. She wasn't blushing at her mistake.

SHE WASN'T BLUSHING!

"...Here..." Elizabeth said in a small tone while manipulating her [Status] to share with Rossie the description of her [Skill].

Shift:

Allows the user to change into a [Second Body] made of Mana, this works by transcribing the [Information] of the caster into [Akasha] and saving it within the [Soul]. Then a new body made of [Mana] is created using the [Meaning] of said information.

This new [Body] is made purely of [Mana] so while the original form is [Human] the new body is not limited by those restrictions, the new [Body] is stronger, more durable, and can function entirely out of [Mana]. It is considered a new [Species] as such any [Shifted] body can only reproduce with another in the same conditions, they aren't limited by biology, and only the [Mana] is important.

The [Simulacrum] created by this [Skill] can be altered by entering into the [Soulscape] and searching for the [Node] connected to its creation, this, however, may require a degree of skill in [Mana Manipulation] above the average, so care is advised.

Level 1: A body of mana is made into the ideal form the [Soul] perceives of itself, it is forged using the experiences, skills, and talents of the user.

Level 2: It is possible to create other [Facets] of the user and summon them as alternative forms.

Level 3: You are able to [Save] one [Facet] of the user per level on the skill.

Amount of [Shifts] available to user:

-Stardust Weaver.

-Pending for selection.

-Pending for selection.

Forms not available for summon anymore:

-Shadow Empress

-Elemental Weaver

It was kind of nice if she was being honest, she hadn't checked what [Facets] she could summon, nor if that referred to extra forms or what, but it was possible that she would need to check on that, maybe she could try and make one for her pajamas and another for her school uniform?

"Eli-Eli, just in case you thought of doing something stupid, do not use those slots for something ridiculous such as one [Sleeping shift] and [School uniform shift]." Her always smart Rossie said, how adorable, she knew her the best.

"Wouldn't dream of doing something so silly, those must be saved for something important." Elizabeth said while cursing her bad luck for having a girlfriend as smart as Rossie.

Not that she was her girlfriend...Officially.

She still needed to ask for her hand in sacred....girlfriend relationship...How does that work? Curse her younger days for not seeing more romance series!

"So since my skill is level 1 I can only summon one side of me, and will have a hard time modifying it. I will need to explore my [Soulscape] and try to find the [Node] that connects to the skill..." Rossie said while frowning her cute little forehead, cute.

"Or we could connect your apartment to the [Shadow intranet] and use the [Station] at the office I have." Elizabeth said while wondering if Rossie would be mad if she took a picture of her, "Oh thank you."

She also thanked the other waitress-student as the weird pink-haired waitress girl brought them a couple of food trays, she had a bowl of katsudon and some rice on the side with a cup of green tea.

While Rossie had a more standard American food with a steak with some vegetables on the side and a bottle of soda. What was this obvious bullying?!?

"You need healthy food to get better." Rossie said while cutting a piece of her steak and eating it. "Don't think I didn't notice that you are still under your recommended weight."

"That means I need more beef, give me beeeeeeeeeeef." Elizabeth wailed at the injustice of the world, gods may be among them, but they weren't giving any blessing her way.

"That means you need to eat healthy lest you get extra pounds on the wrong spots." Rossie answered prim and proper...Even while doing the most heinous of crimes (Such as giving her mostly healthy food) she looked cute.

No wait, this thing had pork, fried pork...So was it healthy? She wasn't sure about that, it was Japanese food, and those from that side of the world usually ate healthy...So it must be...?

Either way, she was hungry and this was her food, even if it hadn't that much pork and it was mostly vegetables and rice...Curse you, pink-haired girl!

[Mother] was right, pink-haired girls are evil!

...She was cute nonetheless.
