After completing the registration, we each chose a ball of our choice and headed for the lane we were assigned. This time, we were divided into teams of three players each, although the team was halfway through the game since only four players could be registered per lane.

When I had changed my shoes and completed my preparations, Otsuki-san, the initiator of this project, coughed deliberately and then stood up.

“We will now hold our first bowling tournament! But before that, I have one suggestion!”

At this point in time, was there anything more? I wonder if they were going to say something like, “If you’re in last place, you’ll be punished,” or some such cliché?

“Whoa, Yoshi has good instincts, doesn’t he? That’s right! My suggestion is that the team with the lowest total score buys the team with the highest score lunch afterwards as a punishment!”

Eh! She was so excited that her boyfriend, Shinji, scratched his cheek and looked at her with a troubled expression. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What’s going on? You’re not going to tell me that Otsuki-san is super good at bowling, are you?

“Haha. Yuya is really brilliant today. No way. Akiho’s highest bowling score is 280, and he’s almost perfect.”

“You’re kidding, right? That’s a score as good as a pro’s, isn’t it.”

Hearing that number, Nikaido and Yui-chan were speechless, as well as me. Rather, they were looking at me as if they doubted Shinji’s words. Just wait a minute, Shinji said as he manipulated his phone to find an image that could be used as evidence.

“There it is. Yes, here’s a picture of it.”

The picture I was shown was a piece of paper with her score on it that was given when they left. There was indeed 280 written on it. I thought she wasn’t good at sports in general, but I had no idea that she had such a talent. I guess this is why people are not always what they seem.

“That time was amazing. She was the center of attention for the other spectators as she threw a lot of strikes. Before I knew it, everyone was cheering for her.”

“Higurashi-senpai, doesn’t the term “center of attention” include another meaning? I’m sure Otsuki-senpai was so happy that she jumped up and down every time she made a strike, wasn’t she? If that’s the case”

“Stop. Don’t go any further, Yui-chan.”

I kind of thought the same thing, but I’m sure the audience there would have genuinely wanted to support Otsuki. I’m sure she wasn’t thinking of anything else that she had to do. If the same thing had been done by Nikaido, the result would have been the same!

“… eh, Yoshizumi. You’re thinking very rude thoughts right now, aren’t you? Oh, Yui-chan will talk to you later, so be prepared for that.”

“Wait!? Isn’t that unreasonable, Nikaido-senpai!”

Yui-chan hurriedly approached Nikaido, but she just smiled icily in silence. She seems to be quite angry. Well, let’s not talk about that. Now that we know that Otsuki-san was a pro, the key to the game would be Kaede, Nikaido and Yui-chan. Shinji and I had been bowling together a few times at the launch of the soccer team’s tournament, so we knew each other’s scores. Our highest score was around 180, though not as high as Otsuki-san’s, so I think we were pretty good. Therefore, the outcome of the game would depend on my partner’s results.

“By the way, I should mention that Kaede-neesan is also a good bowler. She can score about twice as much as me. My score is a little over a third of Otsuki-senpai’s.”

“No, don’t talk to me like it’s a math problem there, just talk to me normally, okay?”

Eh. Based on this story, I would guess that Yui-chan’s score is roughly around 90 to 100. Kaede was double that, so that would be 180-200. Yeah, Kaede really was a jack-of-all-trades, wasn’t she?

“Really, Kaede is amazing… Does she have any weaknesses?”

Nikaido muttered in exasperation. Kaede’s weak point. Was it that she was unexpectedly sloppy or a pain in the back? When she takes it off, she keeps it off. It was a cute flaw, but I wish she would clean up her underwear by herself, even if it was her uniform.

“Yeah, I wanted to ask about Kaede’s weaknesses, but you’re flirting with me… That’s Yoshizumi.”

“Kaede’s habit of leaving her clothes on hasn’t been fixed”

“Or rather, Yuya-kun, what are you saying all of a sudden!?”

When Nikaido and Yui-chan were sighing and dumbfounded, Kaede interrupted them with a red face.

“Please don’t tell anyone about that! It’s embarrassing!”

As I was saying this, Kaede protested by smacking me on the chest, but it didn’t hurt, in fact it was so cute that I couldn’t help but pat her on the head. The kitten’s mood immediately improved, and she smiled wryly at me.

“Yes, yes, yes! I’m sorry to say that I’m just starting to get a good strawberry feeling, but I’d better get started!”

I came to my senses when Otsuki-san clapped her hands. It was a close call. If I had kept petting her, I would have hugged Kaede tightly. I had to thank Otsuki-san for that. Kaede puffed up her cheeks like a puffer fish, looking slightly dissatisfied.

“This is a different story, but is Nikaido good at bowling? Maybe you’re not as good as Kaede or Otsuki?”

It was the same hand as basketball, and bowling had the same thing in common: handling the ball with your hands. In addition, Nikaido was very athletic and couldn play any sport better than others. If Nikaido’s score was close to 200 after Otsuki-san and Kaede-san’s, Shinji and I would be in trouble.

“Aah, about that… I apologize in advance, Yoshizumi. I’m deadly bad at bowling.”

“You’re kidding, right?”

This was the second shocking revelation of the day.
