As for Soji, I don’t understand Russian, but I’m getting the idea.

Thank you for your patience.

Episode 17: I’ll Never Forgive You

“Kagami, you b*****d! What did you do to Chris?!”

“What?!”

Sasaki’s sudden outburst of anger caused me to shout in a deranged voice.

Cheena was so surprised that she put her arm around me. Fuyatsu! {sfx of putting arms around the body)

I think there’s something soft touching my back.

But what did this guy just say?

“Did you just… blame me?”

“You were the one who was closest to Chris when she screamed. You did something to Chris, and to cover it up, you kidnapped her and ran away!”

“No, you’re too stupid…”

I was flabbergasted.(E/N: Surprised.)

No, I’ve always thought he was an idiot, but to go this far was beyond my expectations. I’m so astonished by his greatness.

“Hey Sasaki-kun, calm down! As I said before, Cheena was stung by a jellyfish! You can see the marks on her ankle at-”

“It must have hit a rock when Kagami took her roughly! There’s no way you swam quickly if you were carrying her carefully!”

Akimoto tried to follow up, but an excited Sasaki kicked her off with a violent argument.

Even those who are on the sidelines in the back seem to be suspicious of Sasaki this time.

A few of them were whispering while pointing at Sasaki, and the odds were probably in our favor this time.

Can you even persuade a guy like this? even if he knew the truth I dont think he will even apologize for his mistake sighs.

“You know, Sasaki, Akimoto was closest to her at the time, so if something was strange, she would notice, right?”

“If you dive, you can hide and get closer! Even if it’s really a jellyfish, it’s because you were careless near her!”

“The best way to deal with jellyfish is not to go into the ocean during dangerous times. Would you say that if you were the one who invited them?”

“I don’t care! You’ve got a record to begin with! You always, always mess with Shiori!”

It’s the best comeback he can give huh.

How can this guy even call a girl by her first name when she is not even his girlfriend?

As usual, Soji doesn’t back me up, and Akimoto is being pushed around.

The guests around us seemed to have gone far away to stay out of the way of a child’s quarrel, and before we knew it, we were the only ones around.

It’s not surprising to see the people go away.

“I’ve always thought it was wrong to begin with. I can’t entrust Chris to you, who usually gives Shiori such a hard time!”

Sasaki continued to rant. Sasaki seemed to have gotten heated up, and he took one step closer to me, his face turning red as he ranted on and on.

I stared at him as I got down on one knee beside Cheena.

I also found that my eyes looking at Sasaki became more and more chilly.

This guy’s comments are starting to become unheard of.

Sasaki’s ramblings and I were undergoing a chemical transformation, and I’m gradually turning into gunpowder.

(T/N: This means that as Sasaki’s ramblings go on, Iori was starting to be fired up. Just like how gunpowder is needed to fire a gun, Iori was getting angry and he’s near to the point that he feels like exploding.)

And there were even more fools dancing with the sparks.

“Yes, yes… That’s right, that’s right! Kagami is bad!”

“Yes, it is! If you can’t be nice to Shiori, how can you be nice to others!”

Yes, it’s the b******s from Shiori’s guards and fan club.

It’s as if they’re the ones who deserve justice.

But I can see it in their eyes.

They know what they’re doing. I’m not at fault in this case.

They knew…they knew, and they took advantage of Sasaki’s accusations just to pin the misconduct on me.

My mind is going blank.

I thought I’m used to being falsely accused.

I thought I could handle it.

That it wouldn’t be too hard because I had so many friends outside the school that I cared about.

When I didn’t say anything, they thought I couldn’t say anything back, so they kicked it up a gear.

(T/N: kick up the gear = start something quickly)

“Everyone calm down! Please!”

“Unsightly.”

Akimoto desperately tried to control the mob, and finally couldn’t stand up anymore, Soji started to support her.

Neither of those voices will ever reach me.

Oh, I want to hit him.

I want to beat the sh*t out of him.

F*ck! F*ck!

How much easier it would be if I could solve this with violence.

But that wouldn’t work.

If you do that, you’re feeding them.

(T/N: feeding them in a sense that you’re giving them (mobs) a good show to see)

Endure, endure, endure…

But Sasaki, unaware of my efforts, finally said something he should’ve not said.

“I’ll support Chris from now on! You don’t ever come near Chris again!”

Oh, d*mmit… I’m sorry, Dad.

I have to twist the evil in front of me.

I’m going to beat him so badly that he won’t recognize his face, and I’m going to keep going even after he cries and apologizes.

That’s what I thought, and I tried to stand up… At that moment.

“Stop!!!”

The scream echoed, and all the commotion stopped.

I stopped my momentum to stand up, and looked at the person who had raised her voice.

That person was very close to me.

Standing on her aching feet, fists clenched and glaring, was Cheena.

“Cheena?”

I couldn’t believe it.

The shy Cheena, the quiet Cheena, the Cheena who doesn’t understand Japanese, the Cheena who was not good at speaking, was confronting the mobs.

The silence that comes.

“Oh, hey Chris, why don’t you-”

Sasaki broke it, and in an instant, his face turned into a look like the end of the world.

They blamed me, Kagami,  for Chris, they were angry for Chris, but why was she standing in front of them now?

“Yori is not bad!”

When he heard these words and saw her expression, even Sasaki seemed to have guessed.

I knew that she was “denying Sasaki” to protect me.

“Yori is not bad!”

“That’s…why…”

Sasaki collapsed to his knees in despair.

“Why, why, why? I’m… Chris-chan, forgive me, don’t hate me…”

I already know that I was wrong. But still, these words came out of my mouth… That’s how it looks.

“Yori is… not bad.”

You’ll be able to tell me over and over again that it’s not my fault.

I don’t have enough words to express what I want to convey. I’m being unfairly accused, but I’m powerless to help.

Perhaps it was because of this frustration that several tears flowed from her eyes.

Still, she managed to string together the few words she knew and stood up for me.

The sight coincided with a scene.

“Stop it, Mother! It’s not Iori’s fault!”

The way my father faced my mother on my childhood days.

Oh, when was the last time I was defended like this? With warmth and sincerity.,,

The people around me were also taken aback… Finally, there was no one left to say a word.

Cheena couldn’t take it any longer and cowered in place, covering her face as she continued weakly, “Yori is… Yori is…”

I’m sure she didn’t understand what we were talking about.

The only thing I could tell was that I was being blamed for something that was going on… because they were making noise without thinking.

What the h**l am I doing being protected by a kid I’m supposed to be protecting?

I unconsciously put my hand on Cheena’s head.

Even though it was wet from the sea, I could tell that her hair was fine and smooth.

Then, Cheena buried her face in my chest.

You scared me… Thanks.

It’s okay. Cheena’s words reached me far more than mine.

Then I looked up and glared at the people who had been accusing me.

Probably the most epic look I’ve ever seen in my life.

They took a couple of steps back.

Then I let go of Cheena, stand up, and approach Sasaki.

I got down on one knee, grabbed his shoulder, and stared into his eyes.

“You didn’t care about Cheena at all, did you? You’re such a b*****d! If you continue to direct any more of your inferiority complex at Cheena, I will twist you to pieces!”

“Ee, eep!” (SfX for when you’re scared or when great and (usually) unexpected physical pain is experienced.)

Sasaki fell on his buttocks and was unable to move due to fear.

Something different from seawater seemed to spread at his feet.

This time, I turned my attention to the anti’s… people who were partly responsible for Cheena’s tears and lashed out in anger.

“If you guys hate me for not being nice to Shiori-”

My voice sounded so heavy and quiet, like a strong gravity, that I felt scared even for myself.

I’ll never forgive you guys for making Cheena cry.

A/N: It took me a very long time to put this story together.

This is an important episode for Cheena and Iori to show their trust in each other and their position strongly.

The fact that many of the characters, such as Sasaki, were a bit dumb is also a necessary part of their personalities.

So please stay tuned for the next episode!
