E/N: Anddddddd that was a joke, not yet trial. hehehehe.

“So, does anyone have an idea on why he called me?”

“Hai! I think it was probably about your mother…”

Forty minutes later. Cheena and I were at Oliver’s house.

Sitting across from me were Oliver and Ira, while Cheena was sitting next to me, and I’m about to be crushed by the tremendous pressure that Oliver was putting on me.

“Yes. You’re stuck because your sister got into the office, aren’t you?”

“No, ah… about that…”

Oliver’s usual kind and vivacious mood was not in the slightest, and he glared at us with sharp eyes.

Cheena, next to me, squirmed awkwardly.

Cheena must have talked to Oliver-san. I’m sure it was when she left to use the restroom.

“I’m the one who told her to let me know if anything happened. Don’t blame Cheena.”

“No, I won’t. I know exactly what you’re doing, and I know you’re doing this for my sake…”

As if he saw what’s on my mind, Oliver-san nails me.

But I understand why Cheena is doing what she is doing, and I don’t blame her in the slightest. I mustn’t do that.

I felt Cheena pat her chest next to me, relieved to hear my words.

“And so, Iori. I told you to tell me immediately if you were in trouble, didn’t I?!”

“Yes, you did say that. But…”

I clasped my hands in my lap and looked up to see Oliver-san.

“But I can’t rely on Oliver-san any longer. Oliver-san has helped me a lot in the past… more than what you should’ve given to a stranger. Besides, this is my problem. Oliver-san can help me with…”

“But you’ve got Cheena and the others helping you.”

“That’s… true, but…”

Oliver-san sighs when he sees me like that.

“You know, Iori. It’s okay to rely on adults more. You don’t have to base your decisions on the fact that your parents are like that.”

“But that doesn’t mean I have to rely on Oliver-san…”

“Fool!!”

“—-!!!”

When I still tried to deny it, Oliver’s voice suddenly rang out.

It was so powerful that I couldn’t speak. I was scared of Ira, who was smiling next to him.

Oliver-san’s words intensified as if he was telling me something.

“Iori! You don’t understand! You don’t know how much I and the rest of the military care about you!”

“……”

I choked up at Oliver’s direct and emotional words.

The eyes staring at me were serious, angry, and kind.

I consider the military as my friends, and I know they felt the same way… but still, I was very happy to hear him say it out loud.

My heart was burning.

“Iori, after I had told you to tell me when you’re in trouble, I also said these words right? That if you don’t obey me, you’ll be severely punished.”

“… Yes.”

“You disobeyed. So, as declared, I will decide on your punishment.”

His words weighed heavily on me.

No matter what kind of punishment Oliver-san gives me, I have to accept it.

I’ve been indebted to him for so long, and now I’ve broken my promise.

As I bit my lip and waited, Oliver-san opened his mouth.

“Iori, be my child.”

…What?

“Wh-… what?”

“I told you to be my child. I won’t allow you to refuse.”

When I heard that, I finally realized what it meant that Mr. Oliver and the military guys cared about me.

In the truest sense of the word, I knew that they thought so.

Tears began to well up in my eyes. I twist my lips to hold them in, but I can’t stop them. But it was tears of joy.

I was really happy.

“Are you sure you’re fine with someone like me?”

“It’s because it’s you. You don’t need to hold it in any longer. I know how much your father’s death weighed on you and how much you wanted to be a normal child loved by a parent.”

Mr. Oliver replied kindly.

I can’t allow myself to choose to refuse such a happy offer.

I wipe away my tears and look straight into Oliver’s eyes.

“Please take care of me…!”

“Yes! First, I’m going to beat the judge! It’s my first job as a parent!”

Episode 50: My Father part 2

Translated By BunnyByun

For the next three weeks, until the results of the trial came out, I missed school.

There were two reasons.

The first reason was that the media had gathered around the high school in response to Shiori’s debut, and they were making insane and forceful contacts with her friends and classmates. My homeroom teacher, Ms. Tachibana, told me that it would be better for me to stay at the base until the situation cools down. Incidentally, she has been sending me handouts and assignments so that I can keep up with the class content.

Secondly, to avoid direct sabotage from Shiori and my mother.

When the notice from the family court arrived, my mother knew what I was up to. There’s no guarantee that she won’t do something in the time between then and the hearing date.

For my own safety, I made sure not to go out of the base for anything other than the necessary procedures.

I’ve asked Cheena to stay with Soji, just in case. I’m sure she can handle herself better than I can.

The trial is conducted in the following order: hearing of the child, hearing of the parents, investigation, and hearing of both parties together, and basically the parties themselves attend.

But this time we have a lawyer representing us, so we just leave the information and evidence, and wait for the outcome. I won’t be present at the hearing myself.

It seems that my mother’s side has also appointed a lawyer, so this time it’s lawyer vs. lawyer.

I’m not sure if that’s the right word, but I guess it’s a proxy war.

And today was the day of the final hearing between the mother and the child.

I rented one of the waiting rooms in the family court and waited anxiously for the outcome.

“I’m surprised to find out that Iori might actually become my brother.”

There was one other person in the waiting room besides me.

A young woman with blond hair and blue eyes, Emma Cox. She is Oliver’s daughter.

Originally German, she is now 20 years old and was taken in by Mr. Oliver when she was very young, along with her 14-year-old sister named Lily.

Germans are the lightest pigment of all Caucasians. I was surprised when I first met her.

Lilly is at school today. Oliver and Ira are not here because they have to attend a special adoption hearing that will be held at the same time as the loss of parental rights hearing.

Emma, who is now a college student, has been keeping me company, periodically bringing up topics to keep me occupied.

“Well, Lily has been calling me ‘Onii-san’ for a while now, so I guess it doesn’t feel so strange and weird if we become siblings.”

“She was happy to hear that. She was so happy that Iori was going to be her real brother.”

I have been in contact with Emma and Lily since I first met Oliver. We have known each other for quite some time.

“But I didn’t know that you could adopt a child right after the loss of parental rights hearing.”

“Normally, it would be impossible, we would need permission from the US. I heard that Oliver managed to do it with his connections. What kind of power does… that guy really have? Are there any results yet?”

No matter how much I tried to concentrate on the conversation, my impatience was growing. Emma seemed to be calm, but she kept looking at the clock on the wall.

In the other waiting room, Shiori and that d**ned mother of mine must also be there. I wonder how they’re feeling right now.

Incidentally, there was a lot of media outside the family court right now.

It’s been a big scandal for Saki, the former queen doll, for the past week, thanks to the information that Soji and Oliver have been giving out.

Depending on the outcome of today’s game, the news will probably be full of Saki’s abuse scandal and Shion’s family problems for a while.

I guess I’ll just have to make sure I win and the media will have a big celebration.

After some more time, the moment I had been waiting for arrived.

Finally, the door to the waiting room opened with a bang.

Emma and I both stood up and turned to face it, almost knocking over our chairs.

Four people came in: Mr. and Mrs. Oliver, a man who was a lawyer, and a man who looked like an officer of the court.

“’Oliver-san! How did it go!, what was the result!”

Unable to contain my excitement, I immediately demanded to know the result.

Oliver’s mouth seemed to open incredibly slowly.

Then his lips… lifted in a guileless smile and he smiled.

“’Be careful what you call me, Iori! From now on, it’s daddy!”

“As expected, he will force you to call him dad.”

A/N: The next episode will be a woe story.

I’m sorry, but I don’t see much of Cheena lately.

I’m sorry… She’ll appear in the next chapter with gusto, but please wait a bit…
