Chapter 48: The Dramatic Confrontation (1)

It was night, past 7 PM. The sky was riddled with spots of light, and the moon floated amidst that all. Under the luminous moonlight, three people were enjoying a dinner outdoors.

On the northern side of Jaya Island, a table was placed a bit outside Mont Cricket's house. Two women sat at the table, their expressions complicated, while Cricket walked with grilled fish to serve before them.

“You girls should eat already. I was the only one who ate at noon. It’s not good for your health if you don’t eat.”

Cricket said as he served the grills in front of the two ladies, on two separate plates.

“Uh,”

Robin was surprised by the aroma of the fish. It smelled delicious. She looked up at Vivi, but that girl still wore a frown. Vivi's hands fiddled with one another, as she couldn’t wait any longer.

Coupled with the massacre witnessed earlier, along with the impatient feeling caused by Hashirama’s disappearance, Vivi was not in the mood to eat.

Robin wanted to eat, she was hungry. These sorts of scenes weren’t any uncommon to her. But she didn’t want to alienate the younger girl, so she too hadn’t eaten yet.

However, it was better to eat at this point. For both of them. For a little girl like her, it’s not a good thing if her stomach stayed empty for too long.

 “Vivi,”

Robin looked at Vivi and called.

“Let’s eat already. I promise to go with you after we are done eating.”

Vivi looked at Robin, her face a little pale. Soon, she sighed and shook her head.

“Let’s wait until he comes out. I don’t feel like eating anyway…”

– Growl!

“…?”

“…!”

Vivi’s stomach rumbled right then and a small blush surfaced on her cheeks. While Robin and Cricket exchanged glances, the little girl cleared her throat and picked up a slice of fish.

“Hey, you guys…!”

Just then, a voice came shouting from afar. Just before Vivi was about to put the fish in her mouth. Her neck snapped to look at the source, and her eyes widened to find Hashirama and Mikita walking over to them.

Over their shoulders were bags, large bags, and they were wearing clothes different from before, too.

Those two had just raided the ships of Bellamy Pirates for everything it’s worth, now that the owner wasn’t alive.

Hashirama closed the distance as the aroma of the grilled fish entered his nose. Robin had a bad feeling just then, but before she could stop Hashirama he spoke without caring.

“Whoa. To think you guys are enjoying delicious food without me. What else did you eat throughout the day?”

While Robin face-palmed and Cricket smiled awkwardly, the piece of fish fell from Vivi’s hand and she rushed towards him to attack.

– Shoowsh!

“Bastard! Die!”

Vivi kicked the ground and appeared right above his head. Her leg moved once again, and this time it went right toward his nose.

The world slowed down for Hashirama. Just before the kick could hit, he found himself in a frozen time.

Mikita was just behind him. If he dodged, the attack would hit her. It might as well shatter her skull into a gruesome mess. Vivi was strong like that. Sadly, it was too late to block the attack with his hands too.

So, he had to take the attack head-on.

– Bang!

With a sound mimicking a gunshot, Vivi’s kick hit Hashirama in the face. The air exploded as if an air cannon was fired, and as a result, Hashirama was thrown meters behind—flying right onto the sea.

Thankfully, he managed to throw the bags filled with gold and money to the side before falling into the sea. That could have been bad.

Silence fell in the area for three seconds. Just as Vivi dropped to her feet, Mikita stared at her before looking at the sea.

“….”

Her expression paled as she yelled at Vivi.

“Y-you crazy bitch! Why did you do that?! You just sent him into the sea! Don’t you know he is a devil fruit user?!”

Vivi scoffed. “Serves him goo- Wait, right, he is a devil fruit user!!”

Vivi’s expression paled too, while Robin and Cricket ignored them to rush towards the shore. The two arguing girls followed them right after.

“Shit. This is bad.”

“Don’t worry, miss Robin. I am a diver; I will bring him ou-”

Robin and Cricket conversed, with Cricket taking off his shirt to jump. However, he couldn’t jump in the end because both Mikita and Vivi jumped into the sea before them.

“Hey, isn’t the blonde girl a devil fruit user?!”

“Wasn’t it the blue-haired girl who threw him in the first place?!”

Mont Blanc Cricket looked baffled while Robin face-palmed once again. How did she end up here?

Just when she thought the situation couldn’t get any sillier, a head popped up in the water.

“Huh? Why are you guys here?”

Hashirama said, his hair loose and flowing in the water as he asked curiously.

While Cricket stood stiff, Robin stared at him in shock.

How the hell was he fine and swimming?

What the fuck was wrong with this bastard?

In the end, Robin decided she didn’t care and growled at him.

“You. I don’t care if you can swim or not. But you better go back underwater and pretend to be drowning.”

“Huh? What?”

“Now!”

“Fuck you!”

Hashirama cursed before he dipped underwater.

Five minutes later, Vivi got up from under the water. In her right arm was Hashirama, and on her left was Mikita. Her princess dress was wet, and her hair was clinging to her.

It was clearly hard to move in that dress, but she swam in it and saved two people.

Gently, she put down the unconscious Hashirama on the ground. Then, she moved to put down Mikita. A part of her wanted to drop the body from high up, but she refused that part. She gently put her down too.

This girl jumped to save Hashirama without any hesitation, despite being a Devil Fruit user. That’s what made Vivi save her, instead of letting her drown.

Perhaps there was a bigger story behind why Hashirama came to save her. So she shouldn’t be mad at him from the get-go.

“Vivi, move to the side, let me see if they are okay.”

Robin quickly crouched down and started to check the two people. Vivi got up and walked away with a complicated expression.

Robin first checked Mikita, knowing well that Hashirama was… all right.

“Whoa, you go to check Mikita first.”

Hashirama opened his eyes, as if he had never been unconscious, and said in a low voice.

“How tragic. You’re hurting my feelings.”

“Shut up.”

Robin said while Hashirama smiled and sat up, knowing Vivi wasn’t around to see. His eyes focused on Mikita as he smiled like an idiot.

“She is all right,”

“Why are you smiling like that?”

“I am touched. Have you seen two girls, who hate each other, try to save a guy’s life at once and together? More so, when one is handicapped and the other one is who caused the incident.”

“….”

Robin slowly turned to look at him.

‘No way… That can’t be true.’

Her eyes trembled as she looked at him with awe.

“You… planned this?”

“No idea what you’re talking about.”

Still smiling, Hashirama pulled Mikita in his arms and got up. While Robin kept staring at him from behind.
