The two men and one woman were still pulling and struggling against each other under the lamppost. When Wen Qingying arrived beside them, one of the men roared with a snap “what are you looking at? ” while the other simply pretended to not notice him. Just as he raised his hand to grab the girl’s arm, midway, Wen Qingying suddenly seized hold of it.

Tao Ling immediately followed after him.

“What do you want? This is none of your fucking business!” That man wrinkled his eyebrows and swung his arm to struggle free, but to his surprise, Wen Qingying’s grip strength was frightfully powerful, such that he could barely remove it.

The other one released the drunken girl and launched a fist towards Wen Qingying’s face.

Tao Ling’s blood ran cold at once. Just when he was about to make a move, Wen Qingying angled his head to dodge and kicked the other party, causing him to stagger back to his feet.

Upon learning that there was no room for him to intervene, Tao Ling remained still.

Wen Qingying turned his head and threw him a glance, pointing to the woman beside who was still clutching the lamppost. Tao Ling therefore stepped forward and lifted her up so that she would not fall to the ground.

The two men had drunk alcohol and were now in a fit of rage. The one who was being dragged by Wen Qingying couldn’t struggle free, and thus upon getting more and more furious, he raised his leg to kick him.

Wen Qingying lifted his wrist, pushed him forward, and swung his hand in a semi-circle——there and then the man was directly flung into the other person.

The two men gazed at each other and sprung forward again. Still, they didn’t seem as puffed up now, and their physiques were no match for Wen Qingying either, so they were nothing but a piece of cake for him.

As he watched them, Tao Ling felt that Wen Qingying must have been in fights since young. Normally, though, he always seemed very peaceful which made it impossible to tell.

Seeing that they couldn’t win, a man blew a whistle. The security guard from the bar entrance came over. However, before he could approach them, a car suddenly stopped on the side of the road. A tall man in a black suit stepped out of the car, making the security guard freeze his steps.

“Scram,” a word was dully spat out of his mouth.

Tao Ling was standing a little farther away from them and thus couldn’t hear clearly what that man said to the security guard. But after a few minutes, several people came out of the bar all of the sudden and dragged the two harassingly men away.

“…..”

With Wen Qingying’s strength, although the situation right now couldn’t be considered tough for him, he didn’t imagine that this siege would be broken so soon either.

The girl had overdrank, and her alluring face became even more brilliant under the lighting. Her limp body could not stop sinking heavily. Tao Ling could not make himself hug her either and just turned his head to Wen Qingying’s direction, rushing to wave his hand at him.

Wen Qingying glanced at the man in a black suit who stepped in out of the blue. He walked back to the lamppost, held the girl’s wrist, and firmly raised her to her feet.

“Ah,” the girl smiled drunkenly. She spent a moment looking at Wen Qingying before raising her finger to point at him. “Yo, who’s this? So it’s you, Young Master Wen. It’s you ah, what are you doing here?”

The night breeze blew, causing her to sneeze and sober up slightly and realize that the person who was pulling her wasn’t Wen Qingying. She pointed her finger several times before turning her head to look at Tao Ling. She tilted her head, furrowed her fine eyebrows, and thought deeply for a moment. “Who are you?”

The man in a black suit approached them, calling, “Young Mistress.”

Seeing his arrival, the woman quickly pulled an irritated face. “Bai Guan! I told you already that I didn’t want anyone to follow me today! What’s up with you? You don’t want to listen to me anymore, right?!”

Bai Guan was being yelled at to the point he didn’t dare to open his mouth again, and yet, there was deep concern shown on his face.

Wen Qingying lowered his head to the woman, his expression cold and indifferent.

Before he could do anything, the woman suddenly started roaring aloud, “Wen Qingying! You jerk, you are pinching me so hard! Let go, let go!”

The man in a black suit seemed somewhat anxious. He made a few gestures to Wen Qingying, appearing like he was asking for his ideas. Wen Qingying, however, simply gave him a cold look and remained as still as a statue.

Tao Ling furrowed his eyebrows. He could tell that Wen Qingying was angry.

The large hand that was gripping the woman’s wrist did not loosen in the least little bit. Somehow, it carried a sense of punishment. The woman thus bawled out in a frenzy, shouting at her pleasure, “It hurts! Wen Qingying, you jerk! Leave! Leave farther away from us! How did our family wrong you ah——to the point that you had to run away from home? Jerk! Curse you, jerk! You don’t know how to take responsibility! Scram farther away!”

Listening to this rambling, Tao Ling suddenly felt that this was just a family drama. Perhaps both parties were already married, and Wen Qingying moved in with her, but due to a fight, they broke up…. or divorced with each other.

Meanwhile, he was just the Passerby A who just happened to offer a shooting angle.

The woman blasted till she was left with no more words. In the end, she suddenly cursed aloud, “Fuck your mother! Fuck your uncle!”

Tao Ling frowned in response.

When these two lines burst out, Bai Guan’s eyes grew wide. He stole a glance at Wen Qingying. Seeing that Wen Qingying showed no reaction on his face, he breathed out a sigh of relief.

This situation was too strange. They were fighting but not fighting, while the emotional conflict did not seem normal either, piquing the curiosity of outsiders which was not a good thing. There will probably be patrollers coming over later.

Tao Ling swept his eyes over their surroundings. People would occasionally pass by and look back at them.

Tao Ling felt helpless and moved a step closer to Wen Qingying.

When he drew near him, Wen Qingying noticed him from the side, which was only then that he finally remembered that mister was still with him. As such, the frigid air all over his body vanished completely.

He looked back swiftly and released her hand. At the same time, with some strength that seemed rough – though was actually carefully brought forth – he pushed her into Bai Guan’s embrace.

Bai Guan held the woman’s shoulder gingerly as he looked at Wen Qingying.

Wen Qingying made a set of gestures to him while the woman continued to blabber on and on about something. Fearing that his own presence would make them uncomfortable, Tao Ling moved himself to the sidewalk.

Soon after, Wen Qingying came over and patted his shoulder.

Tao Ling nodded. He glanced back, and saw that Bai Guan was hugging the woman into the car.

“Let’s go,” he said as he moved his feet. His chest was stinging as though it had been scratched by a cat. But in the end, he held back and did not ask anything.

The autumn wind was already starting to feel like a thin knife cutting through the leaves. Rustling, rustling. They followed the path that they normally would not use and went in a circle before finally making a turn to the same old street.

Tao Ling had his eyes glued on the ground this whole time.

After arriving at the neighborhood gate, he raised a faint, casual smile. When he turned his head to enter, Wen Qingying suddenly rushed over from behind and directly held his wrist.

This action——

All of a sudden, Tao Ling felt himself welling up with anger, coldly pulling away out of reflex.

Wen Qingying pulled back his hand, the atmosphere had frozen on the spot.

Tao Ling suddenly felt that there was something wrong with him. When he raised his head, he saw Wen Qingying’s paled face. Moreover, his forehead was showing a bit of innocence, making Tao Ling feel slightly ashamed which in turn fueled the impatience in his heart.

“Sorry, I’ll go now. I’m a little tired.” He turned his head, preparing to leave again.

Wen Qingying dashed two steps forward. When he turned around and stood in front of him, he held his shoulder lightly, with one hand typing on the phone.

Tao Ling fought back his impatience. As well as the faint anger lit by it.

Being angry with someone you aren’t close with is a very selfish, and overstepping behavior. Especially when the anger turns out to be from some sort of thirst for intimacy.

And everything at this moment has revealed, that this thirst for intimacy has knocked against a wall.

Next, Wen Qingying flipped over his phone, showing a few words that would manage to directly pierce through Tao Ling’s forehead to the point he’d be left thunderstruck.

“She’s my elder sister.”

And just like that, the edginess was dispelled suddenly. What came afterward was awkwardness, however.

Wen Qingying smiled with some constraint. Seeing that he wasn’t planning to leave anymore, he typed again: “She is my elder sister, but we don’t get along well. She got drunk, so I was worried that something would happen to her. The one next to her grew up with us; he was adopted when he was a child.”

While Tao Ling’s face was blank, his mind made a quick rewind to the event he’d witnessed earlier. Recalling the words from that woman, in the end, he asked, “Did you run away from home?”
