[Seven Great Mysteries of the Academy]

“All right! Let’s unravel one of the Seven Great Mysteries of the Academy and find Madeline!”

Ms. Teixeira’s unexpected cheerfulness was quite a surprise.

She might have accidentally revealed a bit of her true personality—no, hold on a second.

“What’s Seven Great Mysteries of the Academy?”

“Oh? You didn’t know?” Ms. Teixeira asked with an amazed expression. Even though nobody said it out loud, I could tell from the expressions on Tayte’s and the others’ faces that they were just as taken aback as Ms. Teixeira was.

“Well, I suppose Barrett wasn’t really into this kind of stuff.”

“Certainly… the old you would have no interest in such things.”

Andrei and Jarvis nodded in agreement, and Tayte let out a wry laugh, saying, “Ahaha.”

…I couldn’t argue with that.

The original Barrett would probably have dismissed it as ‘boring.’ His only interests revolved around girls and money, and others probably only discussed those topics with him to stay on his good side.

So, it made sense that he had no memories of the supernatural tales circulating among the students.

――Still, this kind of thing also existed in this world, huh.

And considering it was referred to as the Seven Great Mysteries of the Academy, there had to be six more. I was kind of curious… I guessed I’d ask Tayte another time.

Once the Seven Great Mysteries of the Academy was brought up, everyone’s enthusiasm rose, and the real search finally began—or at least I wish it had. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any clues to go on.

We hit a dead end right from the start, but then Tayte came up with a suggestion.

“Hey, remember how Barrett found Marina when she was kidnapped in the Salencia Kingdom?”

“O-oh, I see!”

As expected of Tayte!

Not only was she adorable and angelic, but she was also incredibly smart!

My fiancée was a genius!

When Marina was kidnapped in the Salencia Kingdom, she left us a clue: her hair clip with traces of her mana on it. Madeline knew about it too. So, if something forced Madeline to disappear against her will, she might have left a trace of her mana somewhere in the library.

“Okay, let’s split up and search for any sign Madeline might have left behind.”

At my suggestion, everyone dispersed and began scouring for any clue that Madeline might have left.

Certainly, there was no guarantee that Madeline had left traces of her mana here. However, despite her carefree demeanor, she was sharp and clever. I believed there was a high chance she had left some clues for us.

–And as it turned out, my hunch was right on the mark.

“Barrett.”

Tayte, having made a discovery, whispered my name and gently poked my shoulder with her finger, being considerate of our library surroundings. In her hand, she held…

“A book…? Ah.”

I could sense the lingering traces of Madeline’s mana on the book.

It seemed she had indeed left a clue.

I gathered everyone around and placed the book on a spacious desk in the library.

It was a book that chronicled the academy’s history.

Perhaps… Madeline had chosen this book to convey something to us, in addition to revealing her whereabouts.

At least, that’s what my gut feeling told me.
