After Ameil opened up the box with his sword, Lucia and I inched a bit closer to try and figure out what was inside.

“Alright, let’s see what exactly we’re dealing with.”

Ameil said before briefly examining the contents of the container.

“Phew, looks like we got off easy, it's just a couple reversed ciphers.”

“You can say that again, I remember having to go to the cryptography teacher to be able to break the stupid code last time. But if it’s just a reversed cipher, we should knock this thing out in the next 15 minutes or so.”

Lucia remarked before stretching her arms a little and letting out a sigh of relief.

“…On second thought… I think I might’ve spoken too soon. Upon further inspection, I don’t think we’re dealing with just the reversed cipher.”

Ameil said sadly after handing a couple of the papers to me and Lucia.

“Shit… this isn’t a reverse cipher at all, I don’t even think the text is even in a code that exists. It’s probably gonna take us months to figure this out.”

“What are you guys talking about?”

I asked after taking a quick glance at the papers.

“It's just written in plain english.”

“…We’ve really got to get you some glasses, Otto.”

Lucia said with a smidge of worry in her voice.

“No seriously, this isn't written in any sort of code, the handwriting is just awful.”

Though, I guess to you two, this stuff might as well have been written in code.

I mean, the handwriting was so awful that it probably could’ve been used as a case study for my calligraphy class.

Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, I could probably hand in a couple of these notes for some extra credit.

“Even if the handwriting is terrible, don’t you think that me and Ameil would’ve been used to it by now? I mean, it’s not the first time mom has sent us a letter.”

“It says here that the letter is from your dad.”

I said with a bit of a smug smile on my face.

“Ah… that explains it… so, what you're saying is that you can read the notes as is? You really don’t need some sort of cipher?”

“Yup.”

“Well, that definitely saves us some time.”

Lucia said, after moving a bit closer to me.

“What does the rest of the note say?”

“From the looks of it, your parents are just inviting the two of you to come back home for dinner this weekend… oh and it also says that you guys can each bring one person with you.”

I replied while squinting at the sheets of paper.

“Huh, that’s convenient, considering that you and I were already planning to head over there this weekend.”

Lucia remarked with a bit of a smile on her face.

“Frankly, I thought they were gonna ask us to do something outrageous like last time.”

Ameil said with a hint of relief in his voice.

“What’d you guys have to do last time?”

“Oh, nothing much. Just help our grandparents till an entire field… in an hour. I can still feel the dirt under my fingers.”

Lucia said with a hint of annoyance in her voice before sighing a little.

“I didn’t even know that was possible.”

“Neither did we.”

Lucia responded before gathering up all the sheets of paper and shoving them back in the box.

“Anyhow, now that we’ve got that dealt with… Ameil, would you mind finding somewhere else to be? That is unless you wanna watch me and Otto do coupley things together.”

“Fine by me, I’ve got a du- another meetup that I have to go to anyway.”

“You were just about to say duel there, weren’t you?”

“What… no.”

“You know that if you get expelled for injuring another student, mom’s gonna kill both of us right?”

“Uh… gotta go, bye!”

Ameil said quickly before sprinting away from Lucia and me.

“Hey wait… shit… I’m gonna get a lecture because of that idiot, aren’t I?”

Lucia remarked before sighing a little.

“…Welp, now that he’s gone, what do you wanna do, Otto? We’ve still got a bit of time before the lunch break ends.”

“Hmm… I don’t really know, currently I was just thinking of going through my closet to figure out what exactly I’m going to wear this weekend.”

“That’s not a bad idea, want some help figuring out what to wear?"

“Sure, why not?”

I mean, it makes sense for the person I’m going on a date with to have some input on what I’m going to wear on the date.

“Alright, let’s head over to your room now then.”

Lucia remarked before taking my hand in hers and leading me in the direction of my dorm room.

In response, I just smiled and let her do what she wanted.

A couple minutes later, Lucia and I arrived at my dorm room.

And the moment we got inside, Lucia instantly started going through my wardrobe.

“Huh, hey Otto, do you have only school clothes right now?”

Lucia asked while rummaging through my closet.

“Yeah, I haven’t had the chance to go off campus recently, plus I don't really have access to much money right now.”

“I see, well, if you’d like, I could probably buy you something nice to wear with the money that my parents send me every month.”

“Well, if it’s not too much of a burden for you…”

“Come on, just let me spoil you this one time!”

Lucia said before moving over to me and wrapping her arms around my waist.

“Okay okay, I yield!”

“Great! Then, when are you free to go shopping with me?”

“I think I’m free for the rest of today.”

“How’s 5:00 sound?”

“Pretty good to me.”

“It's a date then.”

Lucia said before tightening her grip on my waist.

“So essentially, we’re going on a date in preparation to go on another one this weekend?”

“Try not to dwell on it too much, alright?”

“Got it.”

“Good.”

Lucia said with a smile on her face before gently patting me on the head.
