In Amber’s previous life, the news of Lariette becoming a mage was the hottest topic around the Eastern Lands for a long time. Of course, her research and writing became trending topics.

At that time, Amber read Lariette’s findings.

“I plan to do business with plants and vegetation. And for that, Miss Lariette, I will need your help.”

“My help…”

“Could we speak privately for a moment?”

Lariette enthusiastically nodded at Amber’s question. Having learned that Amber read her writings, remembered the details of the content, and even consider it excellent, Lariat had become an instant fan of Amber.

“I’ll leave Count Freya to you then.” Amber spoke to Kalix as she stood up with Lariette.

“Do not worry about me, Mistress.” Count Freya was absolutely stunned at hearing Kalix use honorifics with Amber. Lariette, on the other hand, had been so focused on Amber that she hadn’t noticed.

Amber left Kalix and the stunned Count Freya in the sitting room as she took Lariette to the neighboring room.

The potted plants Lariette brought filled the room. White, six-petaled flowers and curved twigs greeted their eyes as they entered.

“Please have a seat.” At Amber’s words, Lariette immediately sat down.

“These are really beautiful plants. You were the one who took care of these plants, is that correct, Miss Lariette?” Amber asked Lariette as she stared at the diverse variety of plants. “There are many plants I don’t recognize, how did you acquire them?”

“Most of the children are from outside the kingdom. Though they were difficult to acquire, the beauty and the fascinating properties they have make it all worthwhile.” Lariat’s speech sped up at her most beloved topic. “Whenever it was my birthday or a special occasion, I would request my father for one.”

“Just as I thought.” Amber nodded like she understood.

Lariette’s proficiency in horticulture and magic could be partially contributed to her father enthusiastically supporting his daughter’s interest.

“Miss Lariette?”

But then, something strange happened. When she started talking about her father, Lariette’s expression turned dark.

“Ah, my apologies.” Lariette didn’t know what to do and stared at the floor instead.

“Did I say something wrong?”

“No, not at all!” Lariette quickly shook her head. She was so enthusiastically denying it that her nicely braided hair shook all over. “It’s just that, I feel like I’m such an idiot…”

“Like an idiot?” Amber asked curiously. There wasn’t the slightest bit of sarcasm or ridicule in her voice, she was genuinely curious.

“Since I am unable to give up my fascination of plants, I end up constantly involving my father,” Lariette answered as she timidly hunched into herself. With her head still low, she carefully raised her eyes to look at Amber’s face. “Your Grace, do you not think my hobby is quite silly?”

“Me? Think Miss Lariette’s hobby is?” Amber was so surprised her eyes were wide open.

“Well… yes…” Lariette quietly mumbled.

“Why would I think Miss Lariette’s hobby is silly? As I said earlier, I sent an invitation to you so that I could invest in you. There is no one in this world who would invest in something they find silly or stupid.”

“But…”

Though Amber spoke with a firm tone, Lariette was still unable to accept her words.

Amber quickly realized that there was a worry deep in Lariette’s heart that had not been resolved.

“Why is it that you think that way?” Amber changed her tone to a gentle one and asked.

Lariette opened and closed her mouth several times as she hesitated before she finally looked at Amber’s warm, orange eyes and gained the courage to speak. “Well…”
