Qiu Tang cried out in alarm and was about to go in and help Ye Zi, but Gu Yan stopped her and shook his head: “I’ll do it. You can leave.”

After sending Qiu Tang away, Gu Yan closed the door of his study, walked to the bookshelf, and reached out to push aside the mountains of books.

Underneath the books, the small green plant lay dizzily underneath his clothes. When the books fell just now, Ye Zi instinctively changed back to his original form and curled up into a ball so that he didn’t suffer any injuries.

Gu Yan held him in his palm and asked helplessly: “Is my beloved consort dissatisfied with my study?”

The little green plant seemed to be in a daze. Reaching out its leaves, it grasped onto Gu Yan’s fingers and complained: “So dizzy……”

“After being smacked with so many books, how could you not feel dizzy?” Gu Yan touched his little flower bud and said warmly: “How come you didn’t know to be more careful? Just ask someone to get whatever book you want to read. Look at how reckless you were, what if you got injured?”

Ye Zi didn’t answer and lay still in Gu Yan’s palm.

Gu Yan swept a glance at the books scattered on the ground and asked: “What were you reading just now, I’ll help you find it.”

“I w-wasn’t looking at a-anything! ” Ye Zi said sheepishly: “I’m just looking around since it’s quite boring staying at home.”

Gu Yan looked at him skeptically. Ye Zi shook his flower bud, regained some strength, and jumped off his palm: “Let’s go back, I’ll find someone to clean up here later.”

“No need,” Gu Yan said without delving further, “The servants aren’t clear about how I like to arrange things. There aren’t many books that fell over. I can just do it myself.”

Ye Zi thought for a while and didn’t insist anymore.

Anyway, when the books fell, he had already shoved the storybook under the others. Even if Gu Yan saw them, he wouldn’t think that he was reading them.

Ye Zi sat at the table and watched Gu Yan organize the books. The latter pulled out Ye Zi’s clothes from under the mountain of books and put them on the table: “Hurry up and change.”

Ye Zi didn’t move.

There were no partitions in this study so if he changed back to his human form now, wouldn’t he be seen by Gu Yan? But they had been sleeping in the same bed for several months and it wasn’t like they had never seen each other before. However, since Ye Zi had just finished reading that kind of storybook, his mind was currently filled with filthy scenes. At this time, he definitely couldn’t accept the idea of changing in front of Gu Yan.

Ye Zi’s face was on fire, but fortunately, Gu Yan couldn’t tell at all since he was in his plant form. Ye Zi stood up and said: “I’m not changing here.”

Gu Yan turned his head to look at him, not understanding what was wrong: “Then where are you going to change?”

Ye Zi said: “I’ll go back to the room to change.”

Gu Yan frowned: “You’re going out like that?”

Ye Zi seriously said: “Yes, just like this.”

Anyway, since Erbao had already been sent away, he no longer had anything to fear in the Prince’s manor. No matter if he was human or plant form, he was no longer afraid to run around at all.

Thinking of this, Ye Zi ignored Gu Yan, jumped off the desk, and ran to the window: “I’ll go back to the room and wait for you.”

“You——” Before Gu Yan could say anything, he had already jumped out of the window and disappeared.

Gu Yan gently ground his teeth.

This little brat, it looked like he needed to be taught a lesson.

Gu Yan withdrew his gaze and continued to tidy up the study at his leisure. He picked up a few books and suddenly saw two familiar covers underneath. Gu Yan paused for a moment and looked up at the bookshelf.

Worried that the maidservant who was cleaning would see them, he had hidden these books behind a few other books. But now, those books hadn’t fallen down, while these two books had fallen to the ground.

Gu Yan inclined his head thoughtfully and the corners of his mouth curled into a shallow smile.

He quietly put the books back in their original place and continued to organize the bookshelf.

On the other side, after Ye Zi left the study, he carefully avoided the servants in the manor and skipped around like a leisurely stroll. Gu Yan still needed some time to clean up so he didn’t need to rush back. He could just relax in the yard to relieve his desire.

Thinking back to what he had just seen, his face was still hot.

The words used in the book were too bold. Ye Zi only roughly scanned through the pages and didn’t dare to look at it in detail at all. He couldn’t remember many of the details, however, judging from how the storybook described it, doing that seemed to make the other party very happy.

But if he really did that, would Gu Yan think he was debauch?

He had already said it once; the words used in the book were way too bold.

But if he didn’t, what should he do if Gu Yan really got tired of him?

Ye Zi crouched by the grass and sighed troubledly.

From the looks of it, it was still necessary to go over it once more, to see if there were any other methods and steps.

Ye Zi was so lost in thought that he didn’t notice someone approaching from behind. When he came to his senses, he had already been grabbed by someone.

He subconsciously struggled a little and immediately felt that the hand that grabbed him was tender and delicate, just like a child.

Gu Xu looked down in amazement at the small green plant in his hand and even reached out to gently flick its leaves.

When Ye Zi sensed that he did not have any malicious intent, he assuredly sized up this child.

On the day he rescued him, the child had fallen into the water and was in such a sorry state that he wasn’t able to look at his appearance clearly. Looking at him now, he realized that this child was very beautiful with bright and clear eyes.

Just at this moment, there was suddenly a shrill voice behind Gu Xu: “Fifth Imperial Majesty, what are you doing, be careful or you will fall.”

Gu Xu hid Ye Zi in his sleeve and turned his head: “Nothing, where are my Cousin and Cousin-in-Law, where are they?”

Two servants from the manor came up and said: “The prince and the princess consort are in the study now. How about we go to the main hall and wait?”

Gu Xu turned his head and thought: “No, I’ll go find them, I want to see Cousin-in-Law.”

“Fifth Imperial Majesty, Fifth Imperial Majesty!”

Gu Xu ran quickly and the young eunuch apologized to the servants before chasing after him.

Gu Xu was swaying as he ran and Ye Zi followed suit in his hands. Not long after, he gave in to the dizziness.

Gu Yan finished tidying up the study and was just about to go back to his room when he heard someone call him from afar: “Cousin!”

Gu Yan turned his head and saw a child running towards him, jumping into his arms: “Cousin, I finally got to see you.”

Gu Yan was stunned.

He had never been in contact with Gu Xu, much less had any experience with children. Who would have thought that the Fifth Imperial Prince would have no qualms with strangers and would jump into his arms as soon as he arrived? Gu Yan had never experienced such a situation in his two lifetimes. He was a little overwhelmed for a moment; neither pushing him away or not pushing him away was a good idea.

Gu Yan quickly settled down and asked: “Why did you come?”

“I came to see you and Cousin-in-Law.” Gu Xu said, “Mother Consort told me that it was Cousin-in-Law who saved me that time. I originally wanted to come to express my gratitude to Cousin-in-Law, but I didn’t expect to catch a cold. Mother Consort refused to let me out of the palace until today when I have fully recovered from my cold.”

As he chatted, he suddenly remembered something. He raised the small green plant in his hand high and showed it to Gu Yan like it was a treasure: “Cousin, look what I found.”

Ye Zi, who was being pinched tightly by the stem, innocently raised his flower bud to look at Gu Yan.

Gu Yan: “……”

Gu Xu didn’t notice this dissimilarity and said to himself: “I found this in the flowerbed just now and surprisingly, it wasn’t planted into the soil, but instead stood on the edge of the grass. I have never seen such a strange plant before and it smells so good. I want to give this to Cousin-in-Law.”

As he said that, he even shook the small green plant in his hand, shaking Ye Zi to the point of dizziness.

Ye Zi was about to cry but had no tears as he thought to himself: if you don’t let go soon, then your Cousin-in-Law will be shaken to death by you.

Gu Yan could also see that Ye Zi was having some difficulty and took a deep breath: “Fifth Imperial Majesty, please give me this small plant, I’ll go and pass it on to the princess consort.”

Gu Xu hesitantly turned his head: “But I want to give it to him personally.”

Gu Yan responded: “It’s inconvenient for him right now.”

Gu Xu looked at him with wide eyes and asked in confusion: “Why is it inconvenient?”

Gu Yan patiently said: “The princess consort is resting right now. Fifth Imperial Majesty, how about you go to the front courtyard and wait for me, in a while, I’ll ask him to come see you, okay?”

Gu Xu was about to say something when the young eunuch behind him finally arrived and hurriedly saluted Gu Yan: “Your Majesty, please forgive him. His Fifth Imperial Majesty is still young. And because of his eagerness, he trespassed into the manor’s back garden privately, please forgive him.”

Gu Yan shook his head: “No harm, please take his Fifth Imperial Majesty down for now.”

Gu Xu had no choice but to hand over the small green plant in his hand to Gu Yan and also instructed in a serious manner: “You must hand it over to Cousin-in-Law.”

Gu Yan replied: “Mnn, I will.”

Gu Xu was satisfied and followed the young eunuch out of the back garden.

Gu Yan opened his palm and Ye Zi plopped down in complaint: “This naughty kid……I almost vomited from the shaking.”

Gu Yan chuckled and brought Ye Zi back to the room.

An incense stick later, Ye Zi saw the naughty child again in the main hall.

The chair in the main hall was a little too high for a seven-year-old child. As Gu Xu sat on it, his legs were unable to touch the ground and instead swung casually in the air.

He and Gu Xuan were brothers, but they weren’t very similar in appearance, probably because he had inherited Consort Shu’s looks. He could already vaguely make out the handsome facial features on that childish face and when he grew up, he would probably be another attractive beauty who brings about trouble.

Ye Zi looked at him for a while and then turned his head to look at his family’s Prince, slightly comparing them in his heart.

Mnn, Gu Yan still looked better as a child.

As soon as Gu Xu saw Ye Zi come in, he immediately jumped off his chair and ran towards him. He didn’t know why this child was like this, but he loved to jump into people’s arms when there was nothing else to do.

Seeing him stumbling while running, Ye Zi was afraid that he would fall, so he quickly stepped forward and supported him: “Fifth Imperial Majesty, be careful.”

Gu Xu grabbed Ye Zi’s arm and said crisply: “Cousin-in-law, I finally got to meet you.”

This child was well-behaved, understanding, and was also good-looking. Ye Zi felt the fire in his heart subsided as he said in a warm voice: “Did you want to see me that much?”

“Yes.” Gu Xu tilted his head and looked at Ye Zi in adoration: “I still remember that day when you saved me. You’re so powerful, to think you were able to fly across the lake and pick me from the water. Mother Consort said that the one who saved me was Cousin-in-Law, so I immediately wanted to come see you.”

Gu Xu had been terrified when he fell into the water and after several mouthfuls of water, his consciousness was hazy. However, he still vaguely remembered that someone had stepped into the water when he was most desperate, carrying him out of the cold lake and saving his life.

In his small world of consciousness that hadn’t yet fully formed, Ye Zi was the most powerful person he had ever encountered.

Ye Zi gushed at his well-behaved appearance and ruffled his hair: “Have you had dinner yet?”

Gu Xu shook his head: “Not yet.”

Ye Zi was happy to stay with him for a while longer and said: “It’s getting late, so stay and have dinner at the manor.”

During dinner, Gu Xu sat beside Ye Zi and kept pestering him with conversations.

Gu Yan glanced at him several times and said sternly: “Fifth Imperial Majesty, eat without speaking.”

Gu Xu looked at Gu Yan fearfully, lowered his head obediently, and did not dare to speak again.

He didn’t know much about his Cousin at first, but after a few hours of contact, he realized that his Cousin was not as gentle as his Cousin-in-Law, and instead was so strict that he was a little afraid.

Ye Zi looked at his pitiful appearance and wasn’t able to bear it. He whispered to Gu Yan: “Your Majesty, don’t be so mean, you’re scaring A Xu.”

The anger in Gu Yan’s heart intensified. He turned his head to look at him and said without mercy: “The same goes for you, eat without speaking.”

Ye Zi: “……”

Ye Zi conceded gently and also obediently lowered his head to eat.

After dinner, Gu Xu continued to pester Ye Zi to play with him and refused to return to the palace. Seeing that Gu Yan’s face was becoming more and more gloomy, Ye Zi had no choice but to say: “A Xu, it’s getting late, shouldn’t you go back to the palace now?”

Gu Xu was having a good time and had no intention of going back at all.

He looked at the young eunuch beside him and asked in a supplicating whisper: “Can’t I stay a little longer?”

The young eunuch assessed the situation and could tell that the two masters of the Prince Rui Manor already had the intention of sending off their guests, so he advised: “Fifth Imperial Majesty, it’s getting dark outside, if you don’t go back, Consort Shu will be worried.”

Gu Xu looked at the sky outside the window. It was indeed as the young eunuch said and he could only agree in a low tone: “Then let’s go back, we can’t let Mother Consort worry.”

Everyone in the room breathed a sigh of relief when the little devil spoke. Before Gu Xu could walk out the door, he suddenly thought of something and turned his head to ask Ye Zi: “Cousin-in-law, can I learn martial arts from you?”

Ye Zi froze, not expecting him to ask this.

Gu Xu’s eyes shone brightly as he looked at him expectantly: “Mother Consort wanted to help me find a master to teach me martial arts, but I think that none of them are as good as you. Can I learn from you?”

Before Ye Zi could answer, Gu Yan, who had held back a bellyful of fire, finally couldn’t hold back anymore and opened his mouth: “No.”

********

The author has something to say:

Gu Yan: You’re playing with him, eating with him, and teaching him martial arts. I am jealous, the kind that can’t be coaxed.

Ye Zi: …….
