After being seen off by the reluctant Gaiszer and his son, the two of them did not go straight back to the inn, but went to check on the adventurer's guild, which had probably settled down by now.

"Oh, looks like it's about open now."

"There were so many people here before, but now it's all empty."

After that conversation, Gaiszer treated them to a light meal, so it was now almost evening and the crowds had cleared up. The guild, now sparsely populated compared to the daytime, was beginning to regain its normal sense of tranquility.

"I think I'd better go get the request while we still have time."

"Let's do that!"

Caro agreed with Ataru's suggestion with a smile, and the two of them walked into the Adventurer's Guild.

"Oh, you two are here. You weren't in the first wave of people, so I was a little nervous that you might not show up, you know?"

As soon as they entered the guild, the guild master, Flaria, called out to them with a wry smile.

"It was crowded, so I just put it off. It was a real hassle to get into that crowd."

Ataru replied with a shrug of his shoulders as if to say he didn't want any trouble.

"It's true that we had a hard time dealing with ...... when they all came at once like that. I'm glad you guys came back later because you can handle it better."

Flaria replied with a weary smile, perhaps remembering how hard it had been during the afternoon.

"Good work, so we're going to take the request too, ...... is that fine?"

"You're more than welcome. Your testimonies are the reason why we need you to guide us. And I'm looking forward to your ...... help as well."

It was difficult to fight a golem without getting a single scratch, and Flaria had faith in Ataru and Caro's ability to fight a large number of them and come back alive.

"Please come this way, both of you. Please show us your cards so we can process you."

The receptionist, who had been preparing in anticipation of Ataru and Caro's arrival, called out to them and they presented their cards as instructed. Flaria watched them with a happy smile on her face.

The receptionist set their cards in the magic tool for receiving requests with in a skillful manner and registered them for the request.

"Yes, it's done. Our departure will be tomorrow morning, so please gather in front of the guild after breakfast. The guild master will give you instructions along the way.

"Will the guild master be accompanying us then?"

Flaria nodded, smiling at Ataru's question, who tilted his head and looked back at her with a surprised look on his face.

"Basically, for big requests, the guild master usually goes to the scene, not just me. This time, due to the location, I'll be out of town for a bit, and that's why I'm leaving the capable ones behind in the guild."

Flaria didn't seem to be worried about being away from the city, as if she had a lot of trust in him.

"I see. So, how many people ended up joining, including us?"

This time, turning to the receptionist, Ataru asked a question.

"Well, ...... there are eight parties* in total, including yours. I can't give you an exact number right away."[1]

The requests were being received by each party in batches, so it seemed that they could not be checked right away at hand. The receptionist lowered her eyebrows apologetically.

"That's going to be quite a lot of people. ...... I assume we'll be responsible for our own transportation?"

Ataru, who was hoping to get a general idea of what was going on, didn't seem particularly bothered and continued to ask questions.

Ataru and Caro had prepared a carriage just in case, but he figured the guild might provide transportation.

"I'm sorry about that, but this time it will be on your own. Please take care of your own meals and stuff. If we had more time, we could have prepared it ourselves. However, the number of people who accepted our request was unexpectedly large, and it was difficult to prepare everything in a day or so."

Because of the urgency of the request, which was discussed today, and departure was set for tomorrow, there was little time to prepare them. But this situation told them that the sooner they moved, the better.

"Alright. See you tomorrow."

"Oh, Ataru-sama! Excuse me, I'm sorry!"

When Ataru decided that his business was done, he wanted to go back and rest as soon as possible, so he left the adventurer's guild without even greeting them. Caro was momentarily taken aback by Ataru's easy response, so she bowed to Flaria and the others and hurried after him in a short run.

"...... What's wrong?"

When Caro caught up with Ataru shortly after, she noticed that there was something wrong with Ataru, and asked him about the question that came to mind as her ears drooped in concern.

"No, I'm just wondering if they might ask us to provide carriages and food so they can work with the other adventurers."

It is not possible for a B-rank party to do this,......, but the reason Ataru left the guild so quickly was simply because he did not want to take on any trouble. Whatever the case may be, Ataru was aware that Flaria expected more from him than the other adventurers around him, and he thought that he might be asked to do more than just fight.[2]

"Sure, I'd be worried about a lot of things if I had someone else with me."

In the past, Caro had not had a good experience with slavery, so she did not want to be in close proximity to others for long periods of time. Whether Ataru was thinking about it or not, Caro found herself relieved to have avoided trouble.

"I wish they could be as open-minded as Gaiszer-sama......."

Caro who looked down anxiously, basically did not disagree with Ataru, but the fact that she could say these things honestly was proof that she had come to trust him.

"Don't worry, if it's someone weird, I won't agree to it. If i'm told, i'll make a condition that is acceptable to us."

Seeing Ataru's malicious smile, Caro giggled as her anxious expression changed.

"More importantly, since we'll probably be moving early in the morning, let's get back to the inn and get some rest."

It was a great advantage to be able to rest and relax while the rest of the party was busy gathering items and preparing their carriages.

When Ataru and Caro returned to the inn, there were a number of guests at the reception desk, and there was a lot of noise, as if there was some kind of dispute.

"What's going on?"

Ataru, with a wondering expression on his face, murmurs, and a man who has been watching from a little distance notice this and approaches him. He was a little taller than Ataru and spoke to him with a fresh smile. Immediately alarmed, Caro took a step back to get closer to Ataru's back.

"Do you know that a large-scale request has been issued today?"

"Oh, you mean the one where we defeat golems?"

The man asked Ataru a question as he looked at the customers at the reception desk. Ataru nodded that he knew while caring for Caro, and the man nodded while smiling.

"They're the ones who got the request. I've been trying to get a place to stay for a few days now. They prioritized getting equipment and items and didn't think about lodging. I've been staying here for a few days, but apparently they just happened to be in town today."

Ataru, who understood what was going on, looked coldly at the ongoing commotion at the reception desk a short distance away.

"I see. I think you'll find that this is the last place you need to go after being rejected by other inns. ...... I'm sure you'll want to take a good night's rest in preparation for the large-scale request, so this is a very serious matter."

Ataru snickered lightly at how lax these people were, and analyzed the situation, dismissing it as someone else's problem. He was dismayed that they should have secured lodgings in the first place.

"You're the one who got the job, right? ...... Oh, come on, don't stare. I just thought it would be a good idea because you guys seem to be pretty good!"

To Ataru, who glared at the man so as not to get entangled, he raised his hands lightly as if to give up, showing that he was not hostile. Ataru turned his gaze as if he was amazed at the man who kept smiling all the time.

"......Well, that's okay. We'll find out tomorrow anyway, so if you got the job, take care of it tomorrow. We'll be resting in our rooms."

With a single sigh, Ataru decided he wasn't going to talk any more and took Caro with him, turning his back on the man and heading for his room.

[1] Well fuck…… Now I need to remember even more names.
