“Oh my, and you have killed the Fanged Whitemane Wolf on your first try too. Amazing,” Sorilani was visibly impressed with what Narias’s group had accomplished. “But weren’t you scared? I’ve heard the boss monster is much scarier than any normal monsters in the dungeon.”

“Not really… I guess. Oh, I was scared… at one point…” Narias wasn’t really scared of the Fanged Whitemane Wolf, even if it was twice the size of the normal Fanged Wolf. However, he then remembered when the boss monster almost had a jump on Flavia. That made him scared more than anything before.

“For sure. The monsters inside the Magic Dungeon are very intimidating, that’s why I don’t go in there,” Sorilani added with a smile.

“You don’t go to the Magic Dungeon?” Narias was surprised to hear that. “But you’re a second-year student. You should be able to form your own team.”

“Yes, but I’d rather not. I went to the Magic Dungeon one time, during my first-year test run. It was so scary I didn’t want to go back there again. I’d rather stay here and read books. It is much more fun. You love reading books so you know that, right?” The girl librarian smiled cheerfully at Narias again.

“Yeah,” he agreed. However, Narias noticed Sorilani wasn’t exactly scared when she spoke about the Magic Dungeon. “Well, thank you for the books. I’ll be going now.”

It was time for Narias to go. At first, he thought he’ll just pick up a book or two and leave. But when Sorilani insisted on him telling her about his dungeon exploration, he had to give in. However, now that he had spent some time in the library talking to Sorilani, Narias had less time to read because he was supposed to meet with his friends to go to El’Roonst.

“Bye Narias. Come again,” Sorilani waved to Narias.

“Yes, bye,” he smiled at her before leaving.

Ok, I have about two hours left until the main lunch break starts. That’s when Ileena said her classes will be over. Should I go read the books I picked up at our student club or go back to my dorm? Narias was thinking to himself as he was leaving the school building.

But his day-dreaming was quickly interrupted by an unhappy growl inside his stomach. As usual, as soon as he’d pick up a book in his hands, he’d forget about anything else. Add to that the exciting early morning, waking up with a full-on erection, and food was the last thing on his mind.

Right, I should eat something first. He didn’t hesitate to switch gears that food was priority right now.

Narias went to Sally’s Magic Diner to have some breakfast. It was almost on the way to his dorm anyway. He then thought he’ll go back to his room after he eats something instead of going to his student club place.

Still, after the conversation he had with Sorilani, one thought kept bugging Narias. Narias knew Sorilani for a while now. She was always cheerful, curiously cheeky from time to time, but always friendly and in a good mood. Since Sorilani read a lot, it was easy to find a common subject to talk about every time they have met. The conversations wouldn’t lead anywhere else other than digging deeper into the topic they were discussing, but it was fun none the less.

Having said that, Narias had never heard Sorilani speak of doing anything else other than read books. She didn’t belong to any student club, she wasn’t participating in any events, like competitions and stuff, and now Sorilani told him that she wasn’t going to the Magic Dungeon either. She even stated that she doesn’t want to go there at all. That got Narias thinking. It was almost like he was looking at his former self, the nerd self. And even though Sorilani was outgoing and chatty, which Anthony never was back in his previous life, she still somehow reminded him of his past self.

How much would I have lost if I was like I used to be? Narias stopped to think.

Then suddenly it hit him. He realized an astoundingly harsh truth. He’d be all alone right now. No friends, no student club, no Magic Dungeon exploration, and most importantly, no girlfriends. The added emphasis was that Narias had more than one girlfriend, as unbelievable as it might’ve been. And let’s not forget Layla too.

Narias had no regrets when he was living as Anthony, of course. He loved his solitary, book-reading, nerdy life. In Anthony’s world they didn’t have Magic Dungeons, nor anyone could use magic. Everything was based on so called science, which wasn’t a bad thing. That’s how life was in his previous, modern world. But now that he thought about it, Narias was dumbstruck by how his life turned out in this new, magical fantasy world so far.

Oh my… How blessed I actually was… to get reincarnated here? This is… I… I will have to make sure to thank my parents properly for everything they have given me. Tears were running down his cheeks, hands trembling, tightly pressing the books he had close to his chest. I… I have to make sure I cherish every moment of my life moving forward. How did I not think about it up till now? Why did I take everything for granted? Why DO I take everything for granted?

Narias wiped the tears from his face, which didn’t want to stop running. He smiled happily, knowing those were tears of joy.

Right, all of us are going to El’Roonst later today. I better do my best to have fun with everyone. He smiled happily, and then stepped up his pace to reach Sally’s Magic Diner faster.

{a short while later}

“Good morning,” a young waitress greeted Narias as soon as he entered the campus diner. “Oh my, is everything ok?”

“Ah, yeah. All is fine. And good morning. Table for one please,” Narias greeted the waitress back. His eyes and cheeks were probably still red from the tears and the rubbing a moment ago, so the girl thought something has happened to him.

“That’s good to hear. This way please,” the girl motioned with her hand to have him follow. “Here is the menu.”

“Oh, excuse me. Can I use the bathroom before I order?” Narias asked right before sitting down.

“Of course. It’s right over there. I’ll leave the menu on the table for you,” the waitress said politely.

“Thank you,” Narias thanked her.

Narias knew his face must’ve looked messy, so he went to the bathroom to get himself in order. After that, he came back to the table and ordered his food.

“Here you go, sir,” the same waitress brought his breakfast.

“Thank you,” his stomach became excited as soon Narias smelled the food.

“You’re welcome. Enjoy your food,” the girl said and was about to leave.

“Excuse me,” but Narias stopped her for some reason.

“Yes?” the waitress turned around.

“Do you think… it would be ok if I stayed here and read a book after I eat?” He asked the girl.

“Of course. Stay as long as you like,” she told him with a smile.

“Oh, that’s great. Thank you,” Narias was glad to hear that.

After the emotional realization a few moments earlier, Narias thought he’d like to be outside, surrounded by people instead of being holed inside of his room on his own. The diner wasn’t too busy, only a few other patrons were sitting at the tables. The noise and the people constantly coming and going might’ve been distracting, but from now on, Narias decided he’d spend less time by himself and more time surrounded by people. He vowed to not go back to his solitary, anti-social life.

{later in the day at the campus gates, where the students decided to meet}

“Hi Flavia, you’re here early,” a tiny girl with the cute pigtails greeted her.

“Hey Nicky, good to see you,” the charming bunny girl was as energetic as always. “Are you here by yourself?”

“Ah, yes. I thought Ileena would be here already, but apparently not,” Nicky smiled at Flavia. “Is that the new dress that you’ve bought at El’Roonst the other day? It looks super cute on you.”

Flavia was wearing the same dress she had purchased that time when Emilia took her to that ladieswear shop in the Mazaar Shopping District. The green color dress made her look extremely pretty, with the ribbon-trim laces adding that extra playfulness which totally matched Flavia’s style. The charming bunny girl also had the bow-ribbon in her hair. The same one Narias gave her as a gift after winning it at the Shooting Star game.

“Thanks,” Flavia was happy to hear Nicky say that.

“By the way, what do you have in your bag? It’s so big,” Nicky was curious.

“Oh, I have the Fanged Whitemane Wolf’s Fur in it, among the other stuff I found inside the Magic Dungeon. Remember we talked about visiting Growla Ferpaw’s shop when we go to El’Roonst? That’s why I have them with me,” the bunny girl explained.

“That’s right, the shop was one of the places we have decided to visit,” the tiny girl added.

“Good day to you,” it wasn’t long until Flavia and Nicky were greeted by another girl.

“Hi Emilia. Wow, you look fabulous,” Nicky was amazed by how graceful the Ice Princess looked.

“Yeah, that dress totally suits you, Emilia,” Flavia added with a grin.

Emilia wore the yellow color, strapless dress she had bought at El’Roonst the same day Flavia bought hers. It was unusual for her to wear a garment of such distinct color, which also made her feel a little uncomfortable. Being at the center of attention wasn’t something unusual for Emilia, but she was feeling a little unsettled for a different reason. The reason probably was that she wanted to look pretty in front of a certain boy.

“Thank you,” Emilia thanked the girls, bowing in a ladylike manner.

“Hi,” the next to show up was Growly. As usual, he was short with words, but that’s how he always was.

“Hi Growly,” the girls greeted him back.

“Wow, what a nice bracelet you have there Growly,” Nicky noticed something that Growly never had on his wrist before.

“Oh, thanks. I have two,” Growly showed his other hand which he kept behind his back all this time.

“You have two? So adorable. Where did you get them if I may ask?” The tiny girl wanted to know.

“I… made them,” the chubby bear boy flushed, but you couldn’t see it because of the fur on his face.

“Really? That’s so dainty. And they look identical too,” Nicky was impressed.

“Thanks,” Growly averted his eyes, rubbing his cheek with one finger.

“Ileena and Narias are late. Where are they?” In the meantime, Flavia was getting impatient again.

“I’m sure they are fine. Ileena did attend her classes today,” Nicky told Flavia with a chuckle, also covering her mouth with one hand, so she wouldn’t laugh too loud.

“That’s… good. And… I wasn’t worried or anything,” the charming bunny girl crossed her arms in front of her, catching an adorable flush too. Nicky giggled, amused by it again.

“Oh, here’s Ileena,” Emilia noticed Ileena walk from around the corner.

“Hello. I’m sorry I’m late,” Ileena greeted everyone.

“It’s ok, we’re not in a rush, are we? And you know, black looks really good on you.” The tiny girl sent a wink to her friend when she said that.

Ileena was wearing the same elegant dress she had bought at El’Roonst as well. Ileena caught quite a few curious eyes while walking past the other students, who were also waiting for a carriage to go to El’Roonst. Surprisingly, she attracted a lot of attention by looking the way she was. Not being used to it, Ileena was feeling rather uncomfortable, but that just made her look even more attractive.

“Is everyone here?” Ileena asked after she exchanged the greetings with everyone.

“No. Narias is not here yet. I thought he will come together with you,” Flavia sent a suspicious stare towards Ileena.

“Why… would you think that? I was… attending my classes before I came here,” Ileena brushed her hair with one hand, her fingers intertwining in between her orange hair strands.

“You were the last one to leave the diner yesterday. Maybe Narias has told you something?” Flavia wouldn’t let go.

“Narias said he will go to the library this morning. He had these books he needed to return,” Ileena even said the titles of the books that Narias had to return. “He has probably picked a new book to read as well.”

“Hah, that’s Narias alright. Hey wait, how do you know what books he had to return to the library?” Flavia caught the seemingly unimportant detail.

“I…” Ileena blushed all of a sudden.

“Hmph… Lucky you, running into him when going to school. I didn’t have any classes today, so I slept in. Dang, I should’ve known Narias would go to the library. I missed my chance to meet him and now you’re ahead of me once again,” Flavia was half talking to herself, half to Ileena.

“Well… that’s true,” Ileena procured a tiny, satisfied smile which she wasn’t exactly trying to hide.

“Psst… ~whisper~ I would like to hear the details later,” Nicky whispered to her friend, catching Ileena completely unaware.

“N… Nicky,” Ileena turned her face away, charmingly blushing.

A friendly chat followed, with Nicky changing the topic of the conversation. After a few more minutes, the last member of their group has finally showed up.

“Narias is here,” while the girls were chatting among themselves, Growly was the one who saw Narias first.

“Finally,” Flavia almost jumped.

“Hi, so sorry for being late. I was at Sally’s Magic Diner reading and… sort of forgot about the time,” Narias rubbed the back of his head, feeling ashamed.

“Reading at Sally’s Magic Diner?” Ileena was surprised to hear that. Not the reading part itself, but that he was reading at the diner.

“Yes. I was hungry since I hadn’t eaten any breakfast and then I opened a book, and… I miscalculated how much time I still had left,” he knew it was a lousy excuse for being late.

“It’s ok. The next carriage will be here soon.” But Ileena didn’t mind it.

“Narias and reading,” Nicky laughed quietly to herself.

“Reading is good,” Growly didn’t mind him being late as well.

“Hello Narias, it is nice to see you,” Emilia greeted him eloquently while catching a mild flush too.

“Oh, yes. Hello all again. And… Ileena, Flavia, Emilia… you all look beautiful today. And Nicky too. You look lovely too, Nicky,” Narias was quick to deliver compliments to all the girls.

“Why thank you, Narias,” Nicky smiled charmingly.

“T… thank you,” Ileena was blushing like no tomorrow.

“Hey, thanks, partner,” Flavia grinned her widest smile.

“I appreciate the compliment,” Emilia’s cheeks were burning red.

“Girls look pretty,” added Growly.

“Thank you, Growly,” Nicky chuckled, but was happy to hear it from him too.

The carriage arrived soon after. There were plenty of students who wanted to go to El’Roonst today, so it was packed when everyone got on it. The ride didn’t take too long, or so it seemed for the students riding it. During the travel time Narias and his friends discussed what they should do first once they arrive at the city. Since they had all these items that they’ve found in the Magic Dungeon, they decided to visit Growly’s dad at his parents shop first. Walking around the city with all the stuff would’ve been cumbersome to say the least. So, the first stop was Growla Ferpaw’s shop.
