“Are you ok with carrying all those, Emilia?” Narias was worried it might be too heavy for her.

“Yes, I’m fine. Thank you for asking,” Emilia smiled her most charming smile.” But what about you, Narias? That flower pot looks heavy.”

“It’s ok. It doesn’t feel that heavy to me,” he answered, also adding a smile at the end.

Narias and Emilia had left the flower shop not that long ago. Both of them were taken aback by how many flowers were available at the shop today. The owner said they’ve received new varieties of flowers they hadn’t stocked before, so Narias and Emilia were in luck to find what they were looking for.

However, in addition to buying Orchivids for Belinda Salroze, Narias couldn’t miss an opportunity to buy flowers for his girlfriend as well. Or girlfriends, to be more precise. After all, it would’ve been unfair for Emilia to receive flowers, but not Ileena and Flavia.

Of course, Narias felt a little uncomfortable asking Emilia if it was ok to get some flowers for his other girlfriends after he bought some Dancing Snowdrops for Emilia herself. But the Ice Princess didn’t mind that at all. Actually, she was glad Narias showed he cared so much about Ileena and Flavia.

Unfortunately, Narias couldn’t carry the pot with the Orchivids and two additional bouquets of flowers by himself, so he asked if Emilia could carry them for him. At first, Narias felt really bad he had to burden Emilia with such task. After all, Narias had just asked Emilia if she would like to be his girlfriend, and here he was, making her carry the flowers for his other girlfriends now.

Fortunately, Emilia looked happier than ever. In addition to the Dancing Snowdrops, she had two extra bouquets of Twisting Tulipies for Flavia and Sparklily Irises for Ileena. For people who saw them, Emilia looked like she had been showered with the flowers by her date.

You’d think a girl receiving flowers from someone was a common occurrence here. Not so. It was a rare sight to see a young couple walking together with a girl carrying flowers in her hands. It might’ve been more common to see adult men giving flowers to women. But more often than not, the two would be married already or, at the very least, engaged. Giving flowers to a girl meant the guy was totally in love with her.

That was one of the reasons the girls reacted the way they did when Narias suggested to buy some flowers for Belinda Salroze, which was a surprise to him, really. Buying flowers to someone to express their gratitude was normal in the world Anthony used to live in. Besides, even when growing up as Narias, he witnessed many times over his dad buying flowers for his mom. One thing he forgot to realize however, Lorenard and Alvina were husband and wife who were madly in love with each other.

Needless to say, Narias and Emilia attracted quite the attention as they walked together. Not to mention, they were walking through the Gentle Breeze Park. A girl carrying flowers in her hands was a good enough reason for others to be envious, both boys and girls alike. But since it was Emilia Frizz, who was basically known to almost everyone at Reina’s Magic Academy by now, the stares couldn’t have been more intense. And the Gentle Breeze Park was popular among young people, including the students from the academy as well.

Why do I feel like someone wants to eat me alive? As nonchalant as Narias was, the stares were just too much, even for him.

“How about… how about we sit down for a drink, Emilia?” Narias asked when he saw the small cafeteria pop up in the distance.

“Yes. That would be lovely,” Emilia said with a smile, completely untroubled by the intense stares from the envious onlookers.

Luck was on their side and they were able to find an empty table to sit at. It was very quickly covered with all the flowers the two of them had in their hands. And again, all the eyes from the other patrons turned towards the young couple that just arrived.

Oh, come on… It’s only some flowers… Narias shook his head.

Flowers were one thing, but most of the onlookers recognized the Ice Princess right away. The main question to pop up inside most of the curious observers’ heads was – ‘Who’s that guy with Emilia Frizz?’

Narias, as well built as he was, wasn’t what you call an idol model at his school. He had the looks, yes. But he came from a Tier Four Rank status family, which wasn’t considered to be very high by this world’s standards. Narias could use two Magic Elements, which usually would boost one’s popularity instantly. However, even if a lot of students knew there was someone who could use two Magic Elements at Reina’s Magic Academy, very few of them knew how Narias looked. He also belonged to a very small, unaccomplished student club, so nobody recognized him. Whoever saw Narias and Emilia together right now were inclined to think Narias was someone from outside the academy, and probably someone important too.

“What would you like to drink, Emilia?” Narias asked politely.

“Oh, I would like something cold, please,” Emilia answered with another smile. She still had her Dancing Snowdrops in her hands, but had placed the other two bouquets on the table. Narias could tell she was very happy to receive her favorite flowers.

“I’ll be right back. Huh? Oh, sorry, I’ll probably have to wait in line for a short while,” he was about to go, but then turned around to inform his date there was a line of people waiting to order as well.

“That’s ok,” the Ice Princess informed him she didn’t mind to wait.

The intense stares never left Narias as he was walking towards the counter. All he could do was smile to whoever his eyes would lock for a brief moment. That would make the girl catch a blush instantly, or a guy frown and turn away. But that would also make Narias look more confident and assertive. At least on the outside, because on the inside he was very much nervous.

“Good day, Miss Emilia,” while Narias was waiting in line to get the drinks, a girl approached Emilia sitting alone at the table.

“Hello, oh, Miss… Nalitta?” Emilia turned to the person, but was surprised to see who it was. She placed the flowers she held in her hands on the table, so she could give better attention to the unexpected guest. “How… unusual it is to meet you here. How have you been?”

“I’ve been very well, thank you for asking, Miss Emilia,” Nalitta answered respectfully, bowing down lightly as well. “Forgive me for intruding so abruptly. I couldn’t allow myself to pass by without saying hello after noticing you. I am glad to see you are back and well after your Magic Dungeon exploration.”

“I appreciate your concern. I must say however, it rather unusual to hear you asking about my wellbeing, Miss Nalitta,” Emilia commented in a slightly colder tone of her voice. “Was my health really the main reason you came over to talk to me?”

“Hmm…” Emilia’s response made Nalitta think for a moment. “Indeed. It’s true that I was concerned about your wellbeing… but for Sir Louneus Vilmanos’s sake only. It would’ve been really unfortunate if something were to happen to you, Miss Emilia. You have an important role in his future plans, after all.”

“Hmph… Just so you know, I had never asked… or agreed… to be a part of Sir Vilmanos’ future plans,” Emilia tried to say it confidently, but stuttered mildly before finishing her sentence.

“That is not for me to comment on, nor for you to decide, Miss Emilia. We both are only servants to him,” Nalitta expressed her thoughts, lowering her eyes just briefly.

“I… wouldn’t want to think of myself in such a way,” Emilia didn’t appreciate the way Nalitta said it.

“It is the way it is, Miss Emilia. On a side note, you’ve been blessed with the attention of your followers today. I don’t remember ever seeing you being gifted so many flowers before,” Nalitta changed the subject after glancing at the flower bouquets on your table.

“Those are… not from my followers. These flowers were given by a very dear person to me,” Emilia said in a lowered voice, brushing away her snow-white hair to the side.

“From a person dear to you?” Nalitta was visibly surprised to hear that. “That is an unusual thing to say. The only individual you should think about is Sir Louneus Vilmanos. He is the only person who truly cares about your future, Miss Emilia.”

“As caring as he is, I cannot remember Sir Vilmanos ever gifting me flowers. Ah… I mean I…” only after the comment flew out of Emilia’s mouth, she realized she probably shouldn’t have said that in front of Nalitta. After all, Nalitta was direct assistant to Louneus Vilmanos himself and would certainly report it to him.

“That is…” however, Nalitta had a different kind of reaction from what Emilia expected she would. “Thank you for bringing it to my attention, Miss Emilia.”

“Huh?” that was not the response Emilia expected to hear from her.

“No need to fret, Miss Emilia. It is within Sir Vilmanos’ expectations for other men to court you. Having devoted servants can offer-“ Nalitta was about to say something, but was suddenly interrupted instead.

“Narias is not my servant, he’s my boyfriend and I won’t allow you to disrespect him,” Emilia jumped up from her seat even, as flustered as she was at the same time.

“Narias? Narias Talrone? Your boyfriend?” Nalitta looked more disappointed than she looked surprised. “That is an amusing thing to say. I was expecting so much more from you, Miss Emilia. I’m sure Sir Vilmanos will be disappointed when he hears about it too.”

“I… I don’t care. Narias is the kindest person I had ever met and… and he cares about me for who I am,” Emilia sat back down.

“For who you are? That is an interesting thing to say as well,” Nalitta lowered her head, procuring an unusual, mild smile. It seemed like the girl wasn’t taking Emilia’s words seriously at all. “Think what you will, Miss Emilia. However, you must remember feelings will always be a hindrance to achieve what you truly want. Besides, you mustn’t forget your family’s situation. You have a duty to fulfil. Or have you already forgotten that?”

“No, I have not. My family is…” suddenly, Emilia became really tense, as if a shadow fell over her.

“Oh… I… I apologize for saying that. Please, do forgive me, Miss Emilia,” at the same time, Nalitta became aware she might’ve overstepped her boundaries with her last comment. Her apology sounded sincere too.

“That is ok. I… I know my family’s situation…” Emilia had her head lowered, looking at the table with her hands tightly clenched on her knees. Neither of the girls said anything. An awkward silence fell in.

“I’m so sorry for taking so long. There were so many people…” right at the same time, Narias came back with the drinks for himself and Emilia.

Huh? Isn’t that the girl we’ve met at the Fabs & Swirls restaurant the other day? Nalitta Rasakila I think was her name. Narias tried to remember.

“Oh, sorry. Hello Nalitta. It nice to see you again,” he greeted the girl politely, with an added smile at the end.

“Good afternoon, Narias Talrone.” Nalitta greeted him back respectfully.

“Ah, here you go, Emilia,” Narias placed the drinks on the table, remembering he was still holding them in his hands.

“Thank you, Narias,” Emilia brightened up, which brought a delicate smile back on her face.

“I see…” Nalitta noticed how Emilia looked at Narias when she picked up her drink.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Would you like a drink too, Nalitta? Although, I will have to wait in line for a short while,” Narias didn’t know what was going on between the two girls. The first thing that came to his mind was that Emilia and Nalitta were talking about something, so he thought it would be rude not to offer Emilia’s friend a drink.

“Thank you for your kind offer, Narias Talrone, but I was about to leave. I wish you both a pleasant day,” Nalitta respectfully refused.

“Ok then. Have a lovely day, Nalitta,” Narias wished her too, but Emilia didn’t say goodbye for some reason. She was deep in thoughts thinking about something.

“Are you ok, Emilia?” Narias asked after a brief, silent moment.

“Oh, yeah. Sorry, I was just… Huh? Is Nalitta gone?” Only then Emilia realized Nalitta wasn’t there anymore.

Emilia looks really flustered. Her face is rather pale too. Something must’ve happened between them while I was gone. Narias noticed Emilia’s somewhat pale face.

“Did… something happen while I was gone?” He tried asking gently.

“No. I mean… I was a surprised to see Nalitta I suppose,” Emilia tried to reassure him everything was ok.

“Ok then,” Narias could tell Emilia was feeling uncomfortable about it, so he thought he’d rather leave the topic be for now. “But if you ever need help, you can always ask me. I’ll do everything in my power to support you.”

“Narias…” that was enough to add that adorable blush on the Ice Princess’s cheeks again. It also helped Emilia relax too. “Thank you, Narias.”

After that, the two of them enjoyed their cold drinks, not rushing to finish them. A friendly chit chat, mostly about unimportant topics initiated by Narias, helped to diffuse the tension and brighten the mood up.
