“Growly, Nicky, over here,” Flavia was waiving to attract their attention.

“Hi. I see both of you are here already,” Nicky commented after coming to the table where Ileena and Flavia were sitting. “I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised about you coming here before the rest of us.”

“I wasn’t the first one to come. Ileena was already here when I showed up. Hmph,” Flavia crossed her arms, pouting her lips in disappointment she lost the challenge which only she thought everyone was participating in.

“Ileena came here first? That’s a surprise,” Nicky smiled at her friend.

“The book store I went to is only a short walk away from here. It was on the way from the Crafters District,” Ileena explained calmly, enjoying her drink at the same time.

“Right,” Nicky chuckled. “So, did you manage to buy what you wanted?”

“Yes. The bookstore had many books about flowers. It was easy to find one about the Orchivids,” Ileena answered first.

“That’s great. What about you, Flavia?” the tiny girl turned to Flavia.

“Definitely,” Flavia grinned wide, then placed the card on the table for everyone to see. “I got the best Thank You card ever.”

“Oh my. Now that is…” Nicky gasped in surprise after seeing how the card looked. It had hearts drawn all over it.

“Exactly,” Ileena added, not waiting for Nicky to finish her sentence. “I had a similar reaction when I saw it too. What were you thinking when you were looking for the card, Flavia?”

“I was… thinking about Narias, of course,” Flavia caught a mild blush, poking both of her index fingers at each other.

“Sigh… It can’t be helped now. The shops will be closing down soon,” Ileena took another drink from her cup.

“Hey, don’t tell me you don’t like the card?” Flavia became upset hearing such comment.

“No, no. I think it’s absolutely lovely,” Nicky quickly added.

“Yes, good card. Hearts are a sign of love,” Growly commented, not trying to imply anything.

Ileena’s hand stopped midair when she was about to have a drink again. She placed the cup back on the table after hearing Growly’s words. A charming flush dressed her cheeks.

“That’s right,” Flavia fully agreed with what Growly had said, but she probably wasn’t thinking that the card will be given to Miss Salroze. “What about you, Growly? Did you buy the cake?”

“Yes, I have,” Growly placed two boxes on the table.

“Huh? You bought two cakes?” Flavia exclaimed in surprise.

“One is… for me,” Growly rubbed his cheek with one finger, looking away.

“Can I see how it looks?” The bunny girl couldn’t sit still.

“Sure,” the bear boy opened one of the boxes.

“Hey, this cake looks… normal,” Flavia had a puzzled expression on her face, probably expecting for the cake to look much fancier.

“Normal…” her comment made Nicky laugh. “That’s Growly’s cake, Flavia.”

“Growly’s? Oh, hah,” Flavia laughed as well.

“I think Flavia wanted to see the cake that we bought for Miss Salroze, Growly,” Nicky turned to him.

“Oh, Miss Salroze. Ok,” Growly closed the box of his cake and opened the other one.

“Whoaaah,” Flavia gasped.

“That’s… a very nice cake,” even Ileena had to admit the cake looked wonderful. It was decorated with wing-shaped ornaments on top and an ocean waves pattern on the sides made out of cream and chocolate. “But… that’s not a honey cake, is it?”

“No,” Growly gave a single word answer.

“I though Miss Salroze might not like a cake that is too sweet, so I suggested to buy a milder, easier to digest cake. It has fresh berries inside, so it should taste wonderful too,” Nicky explained.

“Wow, you know a lot about cakes, Nicky,” Flavia was impressed with Nicky’s insight.

“Well…” the tiny girl smiled charmingly.

“You know what, I would really like to try this cake myself now,” Flavia licked her lips.

“You can’t. It’s for Miss Salroze,” Ileena commented in a half angry voice.

“I know, but still…” Flavia frowned.

To make Flavia feel better, Nicky offered to buy the same cake for Flavia next time. That made Flavia happy right away. A friendly chit chat followed. After a short while of waiting, Narias and Emilia finally showed up as well.

“Hi everyone,” Narias greeted everyone first, then placed the flower pot with the Orchivids on the table.

“So, those are Orchivids? They look neat,” it was the first time for Flavia to see such flowers.

“They look so pretty,” Nicky commented.

“The flowers look healthy too. Good choice, Narias,” Ileena commented.

“It was Emilia who chose the flowers, actually,” Narias didn’t want to take the credit for it.

“Is that so?” Ileena turned to Emilia. “Huh?”

“Hello everyone,” Emilia said, showing the happiest smile on her face too.

“Woah. You have so many flowers, Emilia. Did you buy them too?” Flavia gasped in surprise.

“Ah, no. It was Narias who bought them,” Emilia answered.

“Narias… bought you flowers?” Flavia looked at Narias, then at Ileena, then pouted her lips, but didn’t say anything.

“I’m… really happy for you, Emilia,” Ileena tried to act neutral, but you could see a slight envy in her eyes.

“Oh, sorry. Let me take these of off you, Emilia,” Narias turned to take the flower bouquets that he bought for Ileena and Flavia from Emilia’s hands. “Here you go. These are for you, Ileena. And for you, Flavia.”

He handed the flowers to his two other girlfriends.

“Wow, thank you, partner,” Flavia’s smile couldn’t be wider.

“Th… thank you, Narias,” Ileena was blushing, probably more so from the embarrassment she thought Narias had bought flowers only for Emilia.

“Girls like flowers,” Growly commented, seeing how pleased Ileena and Flavia were to receive flowers.

“You’re the best, partner,” Flavia was too happy to describe.

Since the day was coming to an end, the group had to return back to the campus. The three girls with the flower bouquets in their hands became the center of attention inside the carriage on the way back. Ileena, Flavia and Emilia themselves were too happy to react to any whispers between the other passengers. Actually, any comments about them having flowers only made them more cheerful. They were the only three girls with the flowers in their hands, after all.

“Ok, here we are,” Nicky announced once they were back at the campus gates.

“Right, before we go to our dorms, we need to agree on the time when we meet tomorrow,” Narias said.

“What are you talking about, partner?” Flavia asked, slightly puzzled.

“I mean, to take all these gifts to Miss Salroze,” he explained.

“What? But you’re the one who’s taking them,” Flavia told him like it was agreed beforehand.

“Huh? Me?” That was news to Narias.

“Of course. You’re the one who suggested it. And besides, Nicky and I didn’t go to the dungeon with you. It’d be strange for us to show up with a Thank You gift,” Ileena explained.

“I’m sorry, I have to be somewhere after my classes tomorrow,” Emilia excused herself from going with him as well.

“I have to go help my dad at the workshop,” Growly had a good reason not to go with Narias too.

“Eh? What? But…” Narias couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

“And I… have to train. I think… Coach Dreknor said he’ll supervise my training tomorrow,” Flavia came up with an excuse too.

Really? Narias frowned inside.

Ileena and Nicky weren’t part of their dungeon exploration group, so it didn’t make sense for either of them to go with Narias. Growly’s dad had asked for his son to come home earlier to help with the work. Emilia had her own reason too, but Flavia probably made the training session up, because everyone knew Ranga Dreknor was one of the teachers who was supposed to go to the Magic Dungeon as a guide. He’d definitely wouldn’t have free time to help Flavia train.

Oh well, it was my idea to begin with. Narias let out a deep sigh. He didn’t think of it being a big deal even, but he also knew the others were probably feeling uncomfortable about it. It wasn’t a custom to give Thank You gifts to teachers here in this world, after all.

“Ok, that’s fine,” Narias smiled at the whole group.

“Great. Here’s the Thank You card, partner,” Flavia was the first to give him the card that she had bought.

“Thanks. Oh, that’s… the card…” he hadn’t seen the card yet until now. Flavia forgot to show it since she was too happy after receiving the flowers from him.

“Here is the book, Narias,” Ileena came closer to hand him the book.

“Here’s the… I can help you carry the cake to your dorm,” Growly wanted to give him the cake, but then saw Narias could use some help carrying it.

“Thanks,” Narias was glad about that one.

“Well, thank you for today, Narias,” this time, Emilia was the first to thank Narias, and give him a goodbye kiss on a cheek too.

“Oh… You’re welcome and… thank you for your help too, Emilia,” Narias felt Emilia’s kiss meant more than just a simple goodbye kiss.

“Yeah, see ya’, partner,” Flavia quickly jumped from the other side to give Narias a kiss too.

“Y… yes. See you tomorrow, Flavia,” he saw Flavia looking happier than ever.

“Goodbye Narias,” Ileena was very calm, yet her burning cheeks still indicated how pleased she was to receive flowers from him.

“Bye Ileena,” Narias cheeks were burning as well.

The excited girls wouldn’t linger too long after the goodbyes were said. Everyone turned towards their respective dorms, with Growly accompanying Narias.

“Huh? You’re not going to your dorm?” Growly commented after Narias made the wrong turn on the path.

“Ah, I will. I just thought it’d be good to have a bag to put all these gifts into. They might have some for sale at the campus shop,” only now Narias realized he should’ve bought a bag big enough to fit everything in. Of course, Narias didn’t think he’ll be taking the gifts to Miss Salroze all by himself.

Fortunately, the shop had the kind of bags that Narias needed. Growly still helped him carry the cake till they reached the dorm. After wishing each other a pleasant evening, the boys went home to their respective dorms. The day was full of excitement and Narias was looking forward to a quiet, relaxed evening. And what better way to relax than to read a book. But he didn’t stay up late. Narias had classes tomorrow, even if they were shorter.

The next day Narias’s morning was very much pleasant. Stefan didn’t jump on his back as he usually would. Narias’s classmate was still away inside the Magic Dungeon probably. Growly kept Narias company going to school. The classes lasted only until the main lunch break for the first-year students due to the dungeon exploration tests still going on.

Instead of going to the cafeteria to eat however, Narias rushed back to his dorm to pick up the bag with the Thank You gifts. He thought he can eat right after he visits Miss Salroze at her office. The lunch break was long enough for him to go to his dorm and back before the start of the next class. Even if the first-year students didn’t have any classes, Narias thought Miss Salroze might be giving a class to the older students. Catching the teacher during the long break was the best option that he had.

“Hello, excuse me,” Narias entered Belinda’s office.

“Oh, hello,” an unfamiliar young woman greeted him.

“Sorry, I knocked, but nobody answered,” he apologized for entering without invitation.

“Don’t worry about it. I was busy, so I probably didn’t hear it. My name is Sally. I’m working as a temporary assistant. How can I help you, young man?” the woman asked.

“Yes. My name is Narias. I was looking for Miss Salroze,” he said.

“Miss Salroze? She’s not here, I’m afraid,” Sally told him.

“Oh, aah… I was hoping to catch her before the next class. Do you know where she is, Miss Sally?” Narias asked.

“I’m sorry, I think you misunderstood. She’s not at the school today,” the young woman explained.

“Not at the school?” Narias didn’t expect to hear that.

“No. Miss Salroze is taking some time off, because she will have to accompany another group of students to the Magic Dungeon next week,” Sally told him.

No. Miss Salroze won’t be at the school until next week? What do I do now? The card and the book can wait. The Orchivids should be fine for a day or two since they are in the flower pot, but the cake will go bad for sure. If Miss Salroze leaves for the Magic Dungeon on Monday, it will take even longer. Narias panicked in his mind.

“Right. I… did not know that,” he was trying to think of what to say.

“Is something the matter? Maybe I could help you?” Sally offered to help.

“Yes, maybe. You see, Miss Salroze was accompanying my group to the Magic Dungeon earlier this week. We came back and I wanted…” Narias paused to gather his thoughts. Trying to explain he has a Thank You gift for the teacher wasn’t the best idea, but he had to do something. “Since… Miss Salroze is not here today, maybe you could pass something to her from me the next time you see her, Miss Sally?”

“I’m sorry, but I won’t be seeing Miss Salroze myself. I’m assisting with some work while the teachers are away. I won’t be here next week, I’m afraid,” Sally explained. “Is it very important?”

“Yeah, sort of…” Narias answered, but again refrained from explaining what it was all about.

“I see. If it’s really important, then maybe you’d like to visit Miss Salroze at her home? It’s a little far, but that’s the only viable option for you if you want to see her today,” the teacher’s assistant suggested.

“Yes, that’d be great,” Narias instantly agreed.

Phew… I think it’s better than having the cake to go bad. He was glad there was a way to meet Miss Salroze today.

“Ok, let me just write her address for you,” Sally took out a piece of paper and a pen. She also gave some instructions on which transport to take and how to find the teacher’s house.

“Thank you so much, Miss Sally,” Narias thanked her for the trouble.

“Good luck. I hope it will work out for you. Just remember to study more next time,” the assistant smiled at him.

“Ah? Oh, yeah. I will,” Narias played along.

She probably thought I failed a test or something. I guess that’s better than another misunderstanding. He thought to himself.

Narias left the office and went directly to the campus gates to find the transport that would take him to where Miss Salroze lived. Apparently, Belinda lived quite remotely and her house was located in the opposite direction from El’Roonst. The travel time in a carriage was over an hour, but Narias had no choice. He thought he will visit Miss Salroze, leave the Thank You gifts and come back right after.

Sigh… I should’ve eaten something, actually. Oh well, I’ll eat a proper dinner when I come back. Narias though to himself when the carriage he was in finally moved.
