“Say, dad…” Narias asked, rubbing his body with a soapy sponge. Both him and his dad were washing themselves.

“Yes, son?” Lorenard said, looking in front of him as he scrubbed his body.

“Can you… can you give me some advice on how to get along with all of my girlfriends better? I mean, I don’t exactly know how… that is… What I’m trying to say is… what should I do to make them happy?” Narias asked somewhat hesitantly.

“That’s a great question, son. It makes me happy you were willing to ask me that. The best answer I could give you is… I don’t know,” it wasn’t clear to Narias if his dad was trying to be funny or if he was serious.

“Eeh? Thanks dad…” Narias frowned, throwing a squinted stare at his dad.

“I’m serious son. I don’t know. I never had more than one girlfriend, remember? Your mom is one and only girlfriend I ever had. I honestly don’t know how to deal with multiple girlfriends,” Narias realized his dad was very serious with his answer. “But I can tell you one thing, you need to be honest with them. You told me you have another girlfriend but you are forced to keep your relationships a secret. I understand you have a good reason for it, but you have to make sure your other girlfriends are ok with. The worst thing you could do is play with someone’s else feelings.”

“Ah, I… I understand…” Narias had to agree with what his father had said.

“Don’t get me wrong, son. If you must keep your relationships a secret, keep it a secret. But what I am saying is, you need to be open with each of your girlfriends about your own feelings. Do you truly love them or do you date them because its fun? If you love them, you need to tell them. If you don’t, you need to be honest and tell them as that well. Never leave it in between.” Lorenard made a pause to pour a bucket of water on himself. Narias was deep in thoughts, processing what his father just said. “Having multiple girlfriends sounds like fun, but I bet there’s a lot of work involved. After all, there’s only one you and you have told me you have five girlfriends already, with another one being interested in you as well. It may sound like a dream come true, being surrounded by beautiful women all the time and all, but if you don’t treat them right, you might end up all alone in no time.”

Wow, my dad’s right. There’s only one me and only so much time I can offer to each one of my girlfriends. I can’t be with all of them at once. I bet each one of them wants to spend more time with me. That’s probably why Ileena, Flavia and Emilia got into argument about who should come with me to my parent’s house. All of them wanted to be with me. Aargh… that was such an immature reaction on my part. I should’ve handled the situation better. Narias was mulling over some stuff in his head.

“Of course, it’s all up to you, son. I for one, am extremely happy I have your mom,” Lorenard had his usual cheesy grin on his face. Narias could easily guess what those thoughts were by now.

“Thanks, dad,” Narias was about to throw the ‘oh, come on’ glance at his father, but then realized his dad was always like that.

Narias and his father finished their wash and went to have some breakfast. It was no surprise for them to find the dining room empty, but there were two maids present who rushed to serve breakfast to them.

“Shouldn’t we wait for my mom and my girlfriends?” Narias asked.

“What are you talking about, son?” Lorenard threw him a stare. “We are the ones being late. They must’ve eaten some time ago already.”

“Ah, yeah… I completely forgot,” Narias rubbed the back of his head. “But then… where are they?”

“They probably went for a walk or something. It’s a very nice day outside,” Narias dad said, getting ready to eat.

Right. I went out early to have a duel against my father. I hadn’t told any of my girlfriends about it. I wonder if Layla had gone together with them? I think I need to talk to her about us. Narias wondered, waiting for his breakfast to be served.

{some time earlier while Narias and his dad were dueling}

“Did you have a good night’s sleep girls?” Alvina asked at the breakfast table.

“Yes, thank you so much, Mrs. Talrone,” Ileena responded first.

“For sure. The bed I had slept in was fantastic,” Flavia exclaimed excitedly.

“I had a very nice sleep too,” Emilia added with a smile.

“I’m so happy to hear that. Say girls, I wanted to ask you something,” Alvina paused, waiting to get their attention. Once all eyes were on her, she continued with what she wanted to say. “What do you like about my little Narias?”

The question took Ileena, Flavia and Emilia by surprise, a shade of red dressing their faces as a result.

“Narias is awesome. He kicked my butt during the Solo Arena Competition and I fell for him right away,” Flavia stated in a loud voice, grinning wide.

“Flavia,” Ileena threw a glance at her while Emilia giggled at Flavia’s boldness.

“What? That’s what happened. I couldn’t do anything against him, even after I used my Anima-Transformation ability. In addition, he praised my cooking too. I knew right there and then he was the guy for me,” Flavia sounded like she wanted to convince Ileena more than anyone else.

“That’s so wonderful, Flavia. Narias wrote in his letters you were a wonderful cook. He also said you were very fun to be around with,” Alvina told her.

“Wow, Narias said that?” Flavia threw one hand behind her head, grinning so wide her facial muscles must’ve hurt.

“What about you, Emilia?” Alvina turned to the Ice Princess next.

“Oh, me? Well…” Emilia didn’t expect for her to be the next one in line. The Ice Princess lowered her gaze onto the table. “I suppose… the thing I like about Narias is… he treats me like a normal girl.”

“A normal girl?” Narias’s mom let Emilia gather her thoughts.

“Yes. I come from a high rank family and… everyone at the academy was always keeping their distance with me, treating me like I was some unapproachable person. I had even received a nickname of an Ice Princess.” Emilia played with her hair as she spoke. “But Narias treated me like an equal and it made me feel accepted. There… there was this one time when I wondered into the Magic Research student club area. I didn’t know there was a student club there at the time, I simply wanted to spend some time by myself. It was Sunday and no one was around, so I thought I could train by myself without being bothered by anyone. But then Narias showed up and… well, long story short, we ended up training together. He made me forget I was the unapproachable Ice Princess and for the first time me being at the academy I had fun training. Before I left, Narias said my magic was very beautiful too. I think… I think that’s when I started to like him.”

“What a lovely story. I’m so happy Narias made you feel that way, Emilia,” Alvina clapped her hands, feeling happy about it. “How about you, Ileena? What did my Narias do to catch your eye?”

“Our first meeting was… very formal. He applied to join my student club, but at the time, I didn’t take him seriously.” Ileena tried to recall the incident.

“Really? That’s hard to believe. You were so protective of him when I showed up at your student club.” Flavia smirked at Ileena.

“That was… after we started dating. You do know that if not for Narias we wouldn’t have a student club today at all. He was the third member that we needed to keep the club going,” Ileena was explaining herself.

“Flavia,” the energetic bunny girl was about to add another comment, but it was Emilia who stopped her this time.

“Oh, sorry,” Flavia caught the hint, shutting up and then sitting up straight.

Ileena let out a deep sigh before continuing.

“Narias… surprised me by filling out the application form fully. I never had anyone fill out the application form as thoroughly as he did. In addition, he was very serious in helping our student club grow. His desire to read was astounding and that’s probably what attracted me to him. Well, and one other thing…” Ileena averted her face away, her cheeks becoming redder than before.

“Narias and reading, tell me about it,” Flavia laughed out loud, with Emilia adding a giggle of her own.

“Yes, Narias had read every single book in our house more than once before he reached the age of fifteen,” Alvina couldn’t help but chuckle as well. However, she couldn’t miss a detail Ileena hadn’t finished telling her story. “But you mentioned there was some other thing that drew you towards Narias. Mind telling what it was, Ileena?”

“Yeah, tell us,” Flavia was curious too. And so was everyone else at the table.

“Well… Narias… fell on me,” Ileena said, adjusting her glasses.

“Eh?” Flavia gasped.

“Narias… fell on you?” Emilia turned to Ileena, giving her a puzzled look.

“Do you mind explaining it in more detail, Ileena?” Alvina clearly wanted to know more.

“It’s… not want you think… Well…” Ileena made a pause to gather her thoughts. “Right after Narias had joined my student club, I wanted to test his abilities. The goal was to clear the distance between us and pass me by before the time runs out. During the test he used a spell I had never seen before and instead of passing me by, he bumped into me with both of us falling on the ground. Narias ended up on top of me and… given the situation, he could’ve used it to his advantage. I was expecting him to accidentally grope me, which I was prepared for, given it had happened with some other boys who wanted to join my student club in the past, but he didn’t. Narias acted like a real gentleman and apologized for hurting me too. I… I was impressed with his conduct.”

“Oh my, what a story. I hope you weren’t hurt when my Narias bumped into you?” Alvina covered her mouth with one hand.

“Not really. Well, maybe a little. But Nicky, another girl from our club, went to get the school’s nurse in the meantime and I was healed right after.” Ileena added, explaining what happened.

“I’m so glad to hear that.” Narias’s mom felt relieved. “Thank you so much for sharing your stories with me. I can feel at ease, knowing you truly care about my son.”

“But of course,” Flavia stated excitedly.

“I honestly care about Narias, Mrs. Talrone,” Ileena told her confidently.

“I… I like Narias very much too,” Emilia added with a blush.

“That’s good to hear, but I still have one concern,” Narias’s mom had a worried expression on her face.

“Huh? What is it, Mrs. Talrone?” Flavia asked, curious to know. Ileena and Emilia were all ears as well.

“Well, Narias is very interested in Magic Dungeon exploration. He was constantly talking about it the moment he learned about it. My concern is, are you girls strong enough to accompany Narias into the dungeon? I would be very sad if anything was to happen to my son,” that was a very valid reason for Alvina to worry about.

“Of course, we are. We had defeated the first floor’s boss monster twice already.” Flavia stated, flexing her arm to show off.

“That’s wonderful, but what about the lower floors? Are you strong enough to go deeper into the Magic Dungeon?” Alvina asked with a smile.

“Well, we’ve been to the second floor of the Magic Dungeon too. We had to turn back after a short while, but…” Flavia wanted to sound convincing, but didn’t have much to add.

“You mean Narias had us turn back because he didn’t think we were strong enough to deal with the monsters on the second floor,” Ileena stated point blank.

“Hey, you didn’t have to make it sound so harsh,” Flavia protested, then started poking her fingers at one another. “I was trying my best, ok?”

“I was too, but it was still not enough. I let that Rhabitooth get away and…” Emilia lowered her head, feeling ashamed about the incident that happened back then.

“It… wasn’t your fault, Emilia. We were…” Ileena became sad and didn’t finish her sentence.

“Hold on, why do you sound so depressed? We are training every day and we are getting stronger. I’m sure we will do much better the next time we go into the Magic Dungeon,” Flavia spread her arms wide.

“Flavia is right. You shouldn’t be so harsh on yourselves. As long as you train hard, you will become stronger,” Alvina wanted to help the girls become cheerful again.

“Yes, but… your concerns are valid, Mrs. Talrone.” Ileena admitted.

“I’m just concerned about my son, that’s all. I’m sure your parents are concerned about your wellbeing as well?” Narias’s mom smiled at Ileena.

“Hey, I know. How about we prove to Narias’s mom how strong we really are?” Flavia threw a suggestion all of a sudden.

“Huh? Prove how strong we are?” Ileena stared at Flavia.

“I think… that’s a good idea,” Emilia agreed with Flavia’s suggestion, surprising Ileena with her comment.

“But… how can we do that?” Ileena asked, with all three of them turning to Narias’s mom.

“My, my. I hadn’t expected you girls to be so serious about it,” Alvina touched her face with one hand.

“But of course we are serious,” Flavia stated, adding a confident smile on her face. “Just tell us what we need to do, Mrs. Talrone.”

“In that case, may I suggest a practise match at our training grounds?” Narias’s mom suggested, a sparkle of excitement jumping into her eyes.

“Yes, let’s go. I’ll show you how strong I really am.” Flavia was eager to prove herself.

“Excuse me, ma’am, but may I remind you the condition you are in? I must insist you not participating in any matches for the time being,” Layla was quick to tell her mistress it was a bad idea, whatever the reasons were.

“Oh my, I became so excited I completely forgot about it. Whatever we will do now?” Alvina covered her mouth with one hand, acting like she was disappointed she won’t be able to do that. “I know, how about you go in my stead, Layla?”

“Me?” Layla looked surprised to hear such suggestion.

“Of course. Narias’s girlfriends want to prove themselves and I believe you’d be a perfect opponent to test their strength, wouldn’t you say, Layla?” Alvina clapped her hands, adding a mischievous smile to her lips.

“Narias’s… girlfriends?” Layla’s face was dressed in a bright red for some reason. “As… as you wish, ma’am.”

“Wonderful. How about you girls go get ready and we’ll meet you at the main hall in a short while?” Narias’s mom seemed to be very excited about the whole deal.

“Alright, I’ll be sure to win,” Flavia felt pumped as she jumped from her seat.

“Thank you for the breakfast, Mrs. Talrone,” Ileena bowed her head after standing up, ready to go.

“Thank you and… excuse me,” Emilia bowed as well, then followed her maid back to her room.

“Are you sure this was a good idea, ma’am?” Layla asked her mistress when they were left just the two of them in the room.

“Why not? I am certain you’d feel more at ease knowing Narias is surrounded by strong women, wouldn’t you, Layla?” Alvina had a cheeky smile on her face.

“Well, I…” Layla averted her eyes, flushing adorable.

“You look so adorable when you blush Layla. I’m sure that is one of the reasons my little Narias finds you attractive,” Alvina chuckled, touching one cheek with her hand.

“Lady… Alvina…” that just made Layla blush even more.

“By the way, don’t you have to go change yourself? We’ll be leaving soon,” Narias’s mom asked, smiling happily.

“Oh, yes. Apologies ma’am and… please, excuse me.” Layla bowed respectfully before leaving the room.

“My little baby boy had grown so much.” Alvina spoke out loud, still sitting at the table all by herself. “I just hope all goes well for him. My little Narias will need all the support that he can get going forward.”
