Wow, so many people. Narias couldn’t believe how busy the shopping district was so early in the morning.
They had just arrived at, what Narias would call, a shopping mall. But it was way more than that. In his previous world, you’d expect a shopping mall to be the numerous shops lined up inside a huge building under the roof. In here however, it wasn’t just a single line of shops that Narias was looking at in front of him. It looked more like a maze.
The main entrance was huge, massive even. Even from afar Narias could see how gigantic the place could’ve been. But now when he was standing just a few steps past the entrance, he could do nothing but scratch his cheek looking at the unbelievable sight in amazement.
Right from the main entrance you had several paths to choose from. Even from where Narias was standing, he could see that every single one of them would lead you to many more intersections to different departments with different shops. One could only stare and gasp at how incredible and confusing the place was.
Eeer… How do people find their way around in here? Narias was already worried about getting lost.
“Yey, finally here,” Flavia was excited even before they had reached the shopping district but now she was beaming. “The biggest shopping district in El’Roonst, the Mazaar.
“Wow, it’s so huge…” Narias mouth was still wide open.
“Pretty awesome, right?” the excited bunny girl grinned at Narias.
“Yeah, but…” he was looking around.
“Is something bothering you, Narias?” Ileena noticed his worried facial expression.
“Well, I didn’t expect this place to be so big. You could easily get lost here. Haha,” he responded half-jokingly.
“Hmm… You might be right about that,” Ileena agreed with him, and then instantly did what you’d expect a girl who liked a boy would do. “I believe it would be a good idea to stay close to each other.”
Narias wasn’t exactly surprised about Ileena hugging his arm.
“Ileena is right. It’d be really bad if you got lost, partner,” very quickly Flavia did the same.
Of course… Narias was as good as locked in between the two girls. But then…
The awkward part was, Emilia was also with them. The Ice Princess wasn’t about to jump in and squeeze herself in between the other two girls to hug him, but it almost looked like she felt sad about being left out.
This is so awkward. And people are staring at us already… And of course, Narias being hugged by two pretty girls didn’t go unnoticed.
“Mind showing us the way, Emilia?” Flavia asked, still clinging to Narias.
“Yes. The shop you want to visit… should be this way,” Emilia motioned with her hand towards the direction they needed to go.
The four students took the left path. Very soon, Narias noticed that the place definitely looked like a real maze. The way the shops were situated, one could walk around in circles to no end and get instantly lost.
The pathways were wide enough for the people to walk past each other but those weren’t straight paths. It was all zig zags, turns and twists with shop entrances on every turn. If that wasn’t enough, the shops didn’t have a single entrance through which people would enter and leave the shop. No. Each shop had several entrances and exits which were interconnected with other shops, which again were interconnected to more shops, and so on. You could walk inside a shop, exit on the other side of it, and end up in a new shop right away. It was a real paradise for people who loved to spend money.
Right, I think I start to understand the reason behind. Narias started to pick up why the shopping mall was built the way it was.
It was built very clever indeed. The really scary part wasn’t about getting lost inside the shopping mall. The scariest part was all the fancy shops set up inside of it. You could probably find whatever your heart desired to buy in here, and even more. Sooner or later, you’d be enticed to view, check, touch, try on, and eventually buy something. It was a paradise for the shoppers, but it was a goldmine for the sellers.
Wow. Good thing I don’t need to buy anything. Narias wasn’t really worried about spending money in here. Still, how will we find our way around?
However, the girls looked completely relaxed. Excited even. As protective of their boyfriend as Ileena and Flavia were, they became much more relaxed after a short while. Girls were still girls after all. They couldn’t miss the opportunity to do some window shopping while they walked. Soon, the talks turned towards all the pretty, nice, cute, and all other things that the girls saw in the stores they were passing by.
Flavia was the most excited out of the three. She was expressive and loud. Sometimes too loud even, when she saw something that she liked. Ileena was more reserved, and would try to keep herself in check. Even if she saw something to her liking, Ileena wouldn’t jump to point it out to the other girls but would admire it quietly. If someone from the group would ask her what she was looking at, she’d turn around, pretend to adjust her glasses, and reply with a simple ‘nothing’.
Emilia on the other hand, was open to talk about what she liked when asked. She was far from Flavia’s level of excitement but at the same time, was willingly expressing her thoughts. Emilia was polite, kind, and always smiled when talking to others. Narias noticed early on that Emilia was extremely refined and well mannered.
Differently from the girls however, Narias wasn’t trying to check the wares that the shops had to offer. He was trying to remember the direction he came from, so they wouldn’t get lost. Unfortunately for him, and thanks to the girls walking from one store to another, he was already confused about where they were. However, it didn’t look like it bothered the girls too much. Nor any other people around them. Everyone was happily walking and browsing the wares, not necessary buying anything.
“You look confused, partner,” Flavia finally noticed it.
“Yeah, sorry. I’m not really used to places like these,” he smiled awkwardly.
“Relax, you have us with you,” the bunny girl smiled back at him.
“The Mazaar shopping district is definitely big. It would be easy to get lost here,” Ileena pointed out.
“It could be, especially if you are first time here. Maybe we should make our way to the shop that Flavia wanted to go without any more distractions?” Emilia suggested. “It’s still some distance away.”
“Good idea. Let’s be on our way,” Ileena agreed.
Huh? What’s that? As soon as they left the shop that they were at, Narias had noticed a tall stand on the side.
“Is something wrong, Narias?” Ileena asked him.
“Ah, no. I was just wondering what was that stand over there?” he asked.
“Oh, that’s the map of the Mazaar,” the girl in glasses answered.
The map of the Mazaar? Narias thought it would be a good idea to familiarize with where they were.
“Do you mind if I check the map?” he asked.
“Not at all,” Ileena didn’t mind.
“Sure. We can also check were that shop is, so we can get there faster,” Flavia wanted to check the map as well.
Ok… So, this is the entrance, and… we are currently… HERE?! Narias exclaimed in his head, after finding out where they were on the map. This place is so huge…
“So, where do we need to go, Emilia?” Flavia asked.
“Sorry, let me check,” Emilia came closer to the map, and after a brief moment she pointed at a location with her finger. “I believe that shop was somewhere around here.”
“Alright, let’s go,” the bunny girl marched forward.
Huh? Wait, they have… just before leaving Narias had noticed something on the map that instantly drew his attention. There’s three of them?
“Hey, come on, partner,” Flavia was getting impatient.
“Oh, sorry,” he quickly turned to follow the girls.
After about another fifteen minutes of walking without any stops all four of them had finally found the shop that Flavia wanted to visit.
“This is the shop,” Emilia motioned with her hand.
“Great. Let’s go,” Flavia was about to enter the store.
The girls were about to enter it too, however Narias was a little hesitant to do so. He stood at the entrance of the shop, with his face catching a light red blush.
“What’s wrong, partner?” Flavia turned around to ask.
“Well, ahm…” he scratched the back of his head, feeling a little uncomfortable. “I don’t know if I should go with you. This store looks very oriented towards ladies.”
“It is a ladieswear shop indeed. But that doesn’t mean you cannot enter the shop, Narias,” said Ileena.
Yeah, but that’s not the real point here. Narias had his own reasons for not entering it.
The shop was definitely oriented towards women. Even from the outside you could tell that the garments and apparel the store had to offer were for the ladies only. That wasn’t unusual, of course. There were many other shops that offered apparel exclusively for women. All four of them had visited a few already on their way here. However, with all the dresses, blouses, skirts, and similar garments, this current shop had ladies’ nightwear, and underwear for sale as well. Narias noticing the, not so shy, ladies’ nightwear on display wasn’t feeling very confident about going deeper into the shop.
Sigh… Oh well… Since the three girls were waiting for him, Narias had no choice but to enter the store together with them.
Because the shop offered its wares exclusively to ladies, only girls and women were inside of the shop. Narias instantly stood out as the only male patron inside as soon as he entered the shop. A few girls inside the shop threw a furrowed glance at Narias as soon as they saw him on the shopping floor. All he could do is smile politely, trying not to touch anything as he followed Ileena, Flavia and Emilia.
Gulp. Narias had to avert his eyes in order not to stare at the sexy lingerie on display.
“This is the blouse I had bought here,” Emilia showed Flavia the same light pink blouse she wore yesterday.
“You want to buy this blouse, Flavia?” Ileena asked.
“Of course not. I wouldn’t buy the same blouse that Emilia has. Emilia looked really pretty in it but I doubt it would look as good on me as it looked on her. I wanted to see what else the shop had to offer,” the excited bunny girl explained.
“Ok,” Ileena’s eyes quickly ran through the garments on display on her left.
“Alright, let’s see what else they have here,” Flavia was ready to let loose.
The girls quickly hit it off, browsing and checking what was available on the shop floor. Narias on the other hand, had to pretend he was invisible, so he would avoid catching the stares from the female visitors.
“Hey, look. This looks so cute,” Flavia pointed at the dress with a colorful floral pattern on it.
“Yes, it does. I think you would look good in it, Flavia,” Ileena agreed with her.
“Really?” the excited bunny girl was checking the dress out.
“Would you like to try it on?” Emilia suggested.
“Ghm… Maybe, but… I like this one as well,” Flavia was now looking at another dress hanging right next to the previous one.
“They really have a lot to choose from. Why don’t you pick several, try them on, and see which one you like best?” Ileena recommended.
“That’s a great idea. I’ll do just that,” the girl with the bunny ears agreed, and quickly went to browse more garments.
“Excuse me, aaahm… Do you mind if I wait outside? I just…” Narias was feeling more and more uncomfortable.
“No way, partner,” Flavia objected. “I’ll want to hear your opinion which dress looks best on me.”
“Huh? What?” he wasn’t expecting to hear that.
“Of course. I have mentioned it before, haven’t I?” the charming bunny girl furrowed her eyebrows, which made her look extra cute.
“Yeah… I think you did say that but…” in all honesty, he had forgotten all about it.
“I think I’ll choose a few dresses myself. I would like to hear your opinion as well, Narias,” Ileena quickly added.
“What? You’re buying a dress too, Ileena?” Flavia exclaimed, not expecting to have any competition.
“Since I’m here, I might as well buy one,” the girl with the orange hair strands picked up a smooth, green color blouse. “What do you think, Narias?”
“Eeeh? Well… I think… it looks very pretty,” he started to stutter after trying to imagine how Ileena would look in it.
After all, the blouse that Ileena was holding was a nightwear blouse made out of a somewhat see through fabric.
“Ok, I might try it- Huh? Oh…” Ileena lifted it up to see better and only then realized what kind of blouse she was holding.
“Wha… You’re gonna try that one on?” Flavia exclaimed. “Ok then, if that’s how you wanna do it.”
Flavia’s ears twitched to the sides as she went to browse the nightwear section of the shop herself.
What? Are they for real? Narias couldn’t believe his eyes, and his ears. Huh?
Then suddenly, his and Emilia’s eyes connected. The girl quickly averted her eyes away, then briefly glanced back at Narias, who was still had his eyes fixated on her. They both stared at each other for a moment, until realizing they might’ve been looking at each other for too long.
“I… I’ll go check some clothes on this side,” Emilia brushed her snow-white hair away, then turned to the opposite direction of the shop.
All three girls were busy browsing the garments, with Narias left all alone standing in the middle of the shop.
This is… so awkward… He wanted to leave but couldn’t.
“My, my. What an unexpectedly pleasant surprise,” suddenly, a woman’s voice spoke behind him.
Huh? Wait, I know that voice. Narias turned around.
“Miss Milenna? Aaa… hello. How are you?” he tried to act normal.
“I’m doing much better now, cutie boy. What a delightful coincidence finding you at this particular shop. Hmm…” the hot, pink-haired nurse touched her cheek with one hand, while also giving Narias an extremely mischievous smile.
“It is, isn’t it?” all Narias could do was smile back.
Of all the places we could meet… Narias knew he was in trouble already.
