Niuniax First things first, the book cover has been updated. What do you think?

“Now that’s a monster you wouldn’t see very often,” Belinda Salroze finally commented. The teacher looked away for a brief moment then added thoughtfully. “Hmph… More like almost never, actually.”

“Almost never?” Flavia had a curious look on her face.

“It’s because the Crystal Snatcher Bug is a rare monster. Isn’t that right, Miss Salroze?” Narias asked her.

“Yes, but it’s more than that. Crystal Snatcher Bug could be considered the rarest monster among all the rare monsters up to fifth floor,” Belinda told them with a bit of smirk.

“What?” exclaimed Flavia.

“Wow, that’s amazing,” Emilia gasped.

“Really?” this was news to Narias, since he had read that the Crystal Snatcher Bug had the shortest respawn timer compared to the other rare monsters. “But I thought the Crystal Snatcher Bug could appear, or respawn, more often than the other rare monsters in the Magic Dungeon?”

“You are right,” the slim, athletic female teacher said.

“Huh? But… but that makes no sense,” Flavia was totally confused.

“Hah, I think you misunderstand,” Belinda crossed her arms in front of her. “Crystal Snatcher Bug has indeed the shortest respawn timer among all known rare monsters inside the Magic Dungeon. However, encountering, or rather finding one is a different matter.”

“Do you mean that rare monsters are categorized not only by how often they can appear inside the dungeon, but also by how difficult it is to find them, Miss Salroze?” Emilia asked the teacher.

“Exactly. I’m glad you caught on. Not that I’m surprised,” Miss Salroze looked neither surprised nor disappointed. “Most of the rare monsters inside the Magic Dungeon are predators and will attack anyone on sight. The Crystal Snatcher Bug however, is a neutral monster at best. From the information we have, it feeds off the rocks and minerals inside the dungeon. It’s quite weak too, other than being fast on its feet, as you have witnessed not long ago. So, it would try to avoid being found by growing a rock-like shell on its back and blend in within the environment.”

“And because it tries to stay quiet, it is even more difficult to find one,” Narias added a point as soon as Belinda made a pause to take a breather. “Eh?”

“Hmph…” then he saw the teacher frown at him as soon as he did that.

“Ah… sorry,” Narias tried to smile, throwing one hand behind his head.

“Wait, does that mean we have found the rarest rare monster inside the Magic Dungeon?” Flavia’s eyes sparkled.

“No. That means you have found it,” Belinda told her point blank. “As a matter of fact… sigh… This is the first time I have seen a Crystal Snatcher Bug monster myself.”

“The first time!?” Flavia couldn’t believe it.

“Wow, really?” Lilna gasped in surprise.

“Yeah, me too,” Growly added in his usual, calm voice.

“Hah…” Narias chuckled at Growly’s comment.

“Indeed,” the short, violet-haired teacher lowered her head.

“This is awesome!” the energetic bunny girl cheered excitedly.

“Anyway, Congratulations. You’ll definitely get some extra points for finding a Crystal Snatcher Bug. Not many student groups will be able to boast of such achievement,” Belinda Salroze congratulated the students. “I’ll go have a drink. Feel free to stay here longer and have some extra rest if you want. Let me know when you’re ready to move on.”

“Thank you, Miss Salroze,” Narias thanked her.

“Thank you,” the other students thanked her as well.

“Wow, so cool,” Flavia couldn’t contain her excitement.

“Congratulations, Flavia,” Lilna congratulated her as well.

All three girls stayed together for another chit chat and were admiring the Water Stone that the Crystal Snatcher Bug has dropped. In the meantime, Growly went to inspect the cave room again with the hope of finding some Crystalized Mold again. Narias went to pick up his water bottle to have a drink and then sat down to relax on his own.

I didn’t expect that the Crystal Snatcher Bug was considered to be such a rare find. Flavia is amazing. If not for her, we would’ve never… He was about to have another sip from his water bottle, but then stopped suddenly after another thought struck his mind. Hold on… Flavia… Growly… It can’t be…

Narias was dumbstruck by a sudden realization. He quickly dug into his memory to remember the little information he had about the video games from his previous world. The resemblance of the video game character abilities to the abilities of his friends here was astounding.

I think… they were talking about professions? Narias squeezed his brain, trying to remember what his classmates were talking about their in-game characters. Aaargh! I should’ve played some video games back at home.

Even if he couldn’t remember any specific information about the video games, Narias couldn’t miss the detail that it was thanks to Growly they could find some Crystalized Mold, or that hidden treasure chest in one room. And it was thanks to Flavia they were able to find the Crystal Snatcher Bug just now. It was like a beam of light shone from above and illuminated his mind.

Every person has different talents, which can be used inside the Magic Dungeon. Narias thought to himself.

Growly was a craftsman’s son. He was learning and helping his dad in the workshop to craft magic items. Growly might be a beginner now, but the chubby bear beast-boy was already capable to distinguish useless rocks from useful materials or minerals that could be used for crafting.

Flavia on the other hand has an excellent hearing. She might not see what Growly can in terms of finding stuff, but her ears are her biggest asset. The half beast bunny girl could pick up sounds from afar. Now that Narias thought about it, he remembered that Flavia would always alert the group about the monsters coming from afar, even if they couldn’t see any in sight.

Wow. That’s just… amazing. A new light shone inside Narias’ head. The more varied people in the group are, the more of the dungeon we can explore. Ghm… I wonder what kind of useful abilities I could develop…

With that in mind, Narias was excited to continue their dungeon exploration.

After finding the first ever rare monster, and the treasure it carried, the group was in high spirits to keep going. After reaching a new room, and clearing it of any monsters, Narias would suggest choosing the right path out of it. Obviously, nobody objected to it.

The Magic Dungeon exploration progressed smoothly. Even if the group encountered a pack of only level two monsters, the students were able to dispatch them without much problem. With Flavia alerting the party about approaching monsters in advance everyone had enough time to get ready for the upcoming fight. When needed, Narias would give out clear and simple instructions during the fight to help take down the monsters faster. The students were clearing room after room, going deeper and deeper into the dungeon.

“Another room conquered. Phew,” Flavia cheered after yet another fight, but this time, she wasn’t as energetic as before.

“Good fight,” Growly seemed to be his usual self, yet sat down on the rock instead of going around to see if he could find something in the room.

“I’m glad it all ended well again,” Lilna was glad everyone was ok.

“Yeah. Everyone did very well,” Emilia agreed with her, then sat down herself.

“Good job everyone, let’s have some rest,” Narias was feeling tired as well.

“Sure partner. But before we do that, I’d like to check what’s over there. I hear a strange noise coming from that tunnel. It sounds like a water running,” Flavia pointed at the only exit from the cave room they were at.

“Ok, I’ll go with you, just in case,” Narias didn’t want to let her go by herself.

“I’ll go too,” Growly stood up as well.

The three of them didn’t need to walk too far. The small tunnel was rather short and they ended up in another small room, which also was a dead end. To their biggest surprise, and joy, they actually found a stream with water running inside the same small room. The stream was tiny and was running down from a crack on the wall. But it was still big enough for someone to either drink it or fill a container, or a bottle.

“Nice, we have found some water,” Flavia became instantly excited.

“Supply Point?” Growly wondered.

“Oh, you might be right, Growly. This is probably another one of those Supply Point rooms. I didn’t expect to find water here, though. I wonder if it is drinkable,” Narias wondered.

“Yes, it is,” before he could say anything else, Flavia had already tried some.

“Flavia…” her boyfriend became a little worried after he saw her drink it.

“What?” she gave him a puzzling stare.

“Hah, nothing,” Narias chuckled quietly. “I’ll go tell everyone else about it.”

After a few minutes, the whole group, including the teacher, were at the new Supply Point room.

“Congratulations on finding another Supply Point,” Belinda Salroze congratulated the students.

“Thank you, Miss Salroze,” said Narias.

“This water is sooo good,” Flavia drank some again.

“I was surprised to hear Narias say there was water here,” Emilia commented, coming closer to the stream. “Wow, it tastes so refreshing.”

“It is,” Lilna added after she tried some too.

“Refill bottles,” Growly was the first one to suggest it.

“Great idea, Growly. We should do that,” Narias went to get his own water bottles from his backpack.

Flavia, Emilia and Lilna followed their example and refilled their own water bottles. The group’s guide, Belinda Salroze was the last one to do so as well.

“Great. Now, let’s have a short rest and continue with our dungeon exploration,” Flavia was eager to keep going.

“Are you sure about that?” for some reason, Belinda gave her a somewhat doubtful glare.

“What do you mean by that, Miss Salroze?” the girl with the bunny ears couldn’t understand why the teacher would ask that kind of question.

“Nothing. It’s your choice to decide what you want to do,” Belinda went to sit down near the wall to have some rest herself.

Huh? Miss Salroze seems to be somewhat tired. Wait, now that I think about it… Narias had to admit he wasn’t feeling full of energy himself. As a matter of fact, he didn’t even notice when he sat down to let his legs rest. Hold on, what about the others?

Narias gave a good look at his teammates. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood, but his friends were either sitting or almost laying on the floor. Growly was sitting further away with his back leaned against the wall. The chubby bear boy would use every opportunity to have some rest every time they stopped, but this time he was actually snoozing.

It’s not just me. Everyone looks rather tired. We’ve been exploring the dungeon for quite a while now. Maybe we should stay here longer in order to have proper rest this time? Narias was thinking if it was a good idea to do so.

“Watcha thinking about, partner?” Flavia was right next to him as soon as she saw him pondering about something. She used to notice him wondering off in the past, so she knew her boyfriend’s mind was occupied with something serious.

“How do you feel, Flavia?” he asked her instead of answering her own question.

“Oh, me? I feel fine. Maybe a little tired, but other than that, all is good,” she told him with a wide smile.

“What about everyone else?” Narias wanted to know.

“I’m ok,” Lilna told him. “I feel a little tired too, but I can keep going.”

“I’m totally fine as well. I should be ready to go after a short rest,” Emilia tried to reassure him she was ok too, but it was evident she would appreciate a longer rest.

Growly was quiet since he was asleep.

I suppose Growly is the only one who is honest with how tired he is. Hah. Narias tried to hold in his chuckle.

“Huh?” Flavia gave him a puzzling stare.

“Listen, maybe… maybe we should take a longer break this time?” Narias suggested, knowing full well he could use some sleep himself.

“Longer break? You mean an hour?” Flavia asked him.

“No, I mean a proper break to have some rest. Like actually have some sleep,” he explained.

“Sleep here? Inside the dungeon?” that was something Flavia didn’t expect to hear.

“But… wouldn’t that be dangerous?” Lilna raised a valid point.

“Are you sure about this, Narias?” Emilia had her doubts as well.

“I don’t know, but we all need proper rest. We’ve been exploring the dungeon for hours now. We might still be fine now, but I can see that everyone is getting tired. Besides, we’re at the Supply Point room. This room should be safe. We could also set up a rotation for one person to keep watch while the others rest,” Narias shared his thoughts with an added suggestion at the end.

“I agree,” Growly agreed with Narias, which also showed that he wasn’t actually sleeping yet.

“Now that you’ve mentioned it, I actually feel rather tired. But sleeping here… Are you certain it is safe, partner?” Flavia was hesitant to agree just yet.

“But if we have one person to keep watch,” Emilia was only half convinced about it.

“The Supply Point room is the safest place inside the Magic Dungeon. You should know that by now,” Belinda Salroze finally stepped in.

“Miss Salroze?” Narias turned to her.

“I was wondering when you decide to have some proper rest. In all honesty, if you were to decide to keep going, that would’ve been bad for your overall score,” the teacher’s words sounded like a threat.

“Eeek!” which made an impact on the students as well.

“Actually, I’m glad we have found another Supply Point room. I was worried we’d have to stop to rest out in the open. Your team leader’s suggestion was smart too. It should be safe here, but you cannot be too safe,” Belinda threw a mild glance at Narias.

After a short chit chat, everyone gave in and decided to have some proper rest. Little did they know, but Narias’ group was exploring the Magic Dungeon for over nine hours now. Belinda Salroze was the only one who knew that, but she decided not to tell the students about it just yet.

There wasn’t much to choose from in terms of where to lay down. Growly and Flavia seemed to have no problem laying on the ground. However, it was evident that Emilia and Lilna weren’t feeling too comfortable about it. Or maybe it was the thought that everyone was supposed to sleep in the same room. Either way, their tiredness won over their unexpressed excuses and both girls laid down to rest as well. Narias was the only one who wasn’t in a rush to go to sleep.

“Why aren’t you laying down to rest?” Belinda asked him after seeing he wasn’t intending to do so.

“I would like to be the first one to keep watch. Why don’t you get some rest, Miss Salroze?” he offered her.

“Aren’t you sweet?” she tried to be snappy, but then quickly eased up. “Thanks, but I’m still fine. I can be the first one to keep watch. Not that we need to. No one has ever reported a monster entering a Supply Point room.”

“We cannot be too careful, right?” Narias smiled at her.

“You…” the teacher wanted to say something, but then had her cheeks flush lightly. “Ahem… fine. But make sure to wake me up in an hour, so you can get some sleep yourself.”

Belinda turned away from him to go lay down, but in reality, she didn’t want him to see her charmingly flushed face.

Huh? Her face looked somewhat red. She might be more tired than she said she is. Maybe I should let her sleep longer. Now… how will I be able to tell time here? Even if he agreed to wake her up in an hour, he had no idea how to check the time.
