By the time I finished making everything, everyone else woke up. Good morning.

I used the feather duster on all of them to clean up and had breakfast. Today, we’ll be exploring the town under the sea.

It seems like many towns in this world are located near the sea or lakes. Are we just finding those types of places, or is it really common in this world?

You’re right. Deichemoore and the capital city, Aitzol, are both coastal towns, and even the temple is situated on a lake.

“…that Homo magician looked at me and said, ‘Are you from the north?’ I wonder if there are towns in the northern regions too.”

Hmm, that might be something. We haven’t explored the eastern part of the 1st floor yet, and there might be towns there. Or maybe around the northern wing where Homura and the others are searching. In any case, it feels natural for there to be towns and settlements in this world.

“Well, anyway, since that town is in the middle of the sea, everyone except Suzumoto and me will have trouble getting out without [Transfer], right?”

“…I’m not good at swimming…”

It seems Kadomi-kun is feeling a bit discouraged about the town being in the middle of the sea. Apparently, his legs are too muscular and lack enough fat to float properly. That’s bound to make swimming difficult.

“If we’re talking about not floating, count me in too.”

Hagasaki-kun is also having trouble floating for a different reason – he doesn’t have much body fat either.

“I’m not particularly good at swimming either.”

President is also having trouble floating since he has low body fat.

“Hmm, if it comes to that, everyone can just hold onto me, right?”

Well, if we were in the world before coming here, that might have been possible for Toriumi.

“But Toriumi has also become quite muscular, so I doubt he’d be able to serve as a floating device.”

Yeah, after working so much physical labor in this world, he has a good amount of muscle now.

“I have the highest percentage of body fat among us, but if you grab onto me, you might just drown, so be careful.”

And I’m not particularly skilled at swimming either. At best, I might be able to swim about 200 meters of super slow breaststroke.

“I’d rather grab onto a straw than you.”

Ouch, that’s harsh.

“Well, anyways, let’s make sure to stick together with either Toriumi or Maito at all times. If something happens, we’ll gather at the pawnshop in Deichemoore.”

That sounds reasonable. Our emergency escape options are limited to my and Toriumi’s [Transfer], and Hariu’s [Shadow Crossing]. But using [Shadow Crossing] has many restrictions, so it’s not very practical.

“If something happens, contact us immediately. And make sure to evacuate early if necessary.”

We shouldn’t wait until something actually happens, right? Right.

After breakfast and finishing the hemming of the equipment, everyone changed into the new gear, keeping the armament light.

Wearing heavy armor would make swimming difficult, so it was better to be prepared for any situation without being overly cautious.

Due to those reasons, Ketorami and Glida stayed behind this time. Hunter happily agreed to stay in my pocket and accompany us.

And then, we departed using my [Transfer].

Off to the underwater town of Moses (temporary name)!

“Wow, it’s a wall of water.”

As soon as we arrived, we encountered a wall of seawater. This seems to be at the edge of the town.

“I wonder what’s going on with this.”

“It seems like the laws of physics aren’t working here.”

Well, they weren’t working much in the first place.

“For now, if we head to the center of the town, the gymnasium should be nearby. Let’s go and check it out.”

Following the information from the aerial view that Suzumoto and Hariu saw yesterday, we made our way to a main street-like area.

“Yesterday, we returned right away, so we didn’t notice, but yeah, the laws of physics are definitely off here.”

In this town, where the water wall had become the outer wall, various strange phenomena related to water could be observed. There were fountains where water concentrated and shot up into the air like an inverse version, flower-like formations made of water, and even flying birds made entirely of transparent water—quite interesting sights.

“But well, still, it’s not as lively as Deichemoore.”

“Yeah, there are no street vendors or anything like that.”

The town’s streets resembled Atzol, but there were no bustling stalls or crowds.

“…There seem to be fewer people here?”

It felt like the town might be smaller in scale, with fewer people around.

To check the prices and such, we entered what looked like a bakery nearby. There weren’t significant differences in prices compared to other places.

Once we were inside, we felt obliged to buy something, so I got some shortbread-like snacks as a treat.

“Well, apart from the strange water, fewer people, and the lack of slaves, it doesn’t seem that different from Atzol.”

But, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something we were missing…

“If all the gymnasiums and grounds are here… it’s just too empty with us, the otherworlders.”

It was indeed quite strange.

We soon found out the reason behind this odd situation.

“Hey! Stop right there! Foreigners!”

Soldiers approached from the other side of the road. Well, since we were the only foreigners around here, they must be referring to us.

Quickly, Hariu retrieved everyone’s weapons and hid in the shadows.

A wise decision.

Thanks to Hariu’s quick thinking, one of us disappeared without the soldiers noticing, and they surrounded us.

“You must be foreigners. Come with us.”

The most authoritative-looking soldier spoke, and his comrades aimed their spears at us. A rather tense situation.

“What do we do?”

“For now, let’s go with them. Marie, can we transfer anytime?”

“Yes, whenever you need.”

Since we had no idea what was going on, we decided to follow them. If things got bad, we could just use [Transfer] to escape, so it should be fine.

So, we were taken into custody on the spot and led to the royal palace. Though I wasn’t a foreigner, they brought me along as a precaution.

After passing through the gates of the palace, we were taken to what seemed like an interrogation room, where they confirmed that everyone except me was unarmed. Surprisingly, they didn’t inspect inside my skirt, so my dagger and duster remained hidden. The maids, on the other hand, were in stealth mode, so it turned out to be anticlimactic. I wonder if that was alright…

“Well, why were we brought here?”

President casually inquired, and one of the soldiers responded with a condescending attitude.

“Hmph, you don’t even know that? It’s because the queen ordered to gather all the foreigners in the country! … Well, you people managed to hide well until now!”

“Why is the queen gathering foreigners?”

“You think we’d tell you her noble intentions? … Anyway, what you need to know is that there hasn’t been a single foreigner who entered this castle and left.”

I glanced at President with a questioning look, as if asking, “Should I transfer?” He shook his head slightly, indicating that we should observe the situation for now.

We still didn’t know anything, after all.

So, we were thrown into what seemed like an underground dungeon with the classic line, “Behave yourselves in there!”

The sound of the lock clicking echoed, and the footsteps of the soldiers gradually faded away as they closed the door behind us.

…Phew.

“Now then, it’s a sudden turn of events, but what should we do?”

“For now, let’s observe the situation until we meet this so-called queen. …As a precaution, Hariu, please stay on standby.”

Even though everyone seems quite strong even without weapons, the fact remains that only Hariu and me can fight at full force.

…of course, my strength is know, so it’s actually just Hariu.

“…By the way, Suzumoto and Hariu were fine yesterday, right?”

Yeah, well, they weren’t in the main street area, and they didn’t stay too long. It’s probably understandable.

“Depending on the reason why the queen is gathering foreigners… it’s possible that all the students near the gymnasium got wiped out.”

Ugh, I don’t want to think about that!

“However, coming to this town had one good thing for us. We found ingredients for the spirit medicine.”

President looked pleased as he pulled out a flower with water petals from his pocket.

“Well, there might be a possibility of finding other ingredients here as well. So, coming here wasn’t meaningless. Let’s see how the queen acts and decide whether to evacuate or not.”

…He’s always so composed, isn’t he?

And so, we were left alone for a while, and as our stomachs started growling, the maid doll took out the shortbread I had put in my pocket and I shared it with everyone. We all ate together and passed the time playing werewolf games when we got too bored.

Hmm, having this kind of mental composure gives a sense of superiority.

As the sky outside the grated window began to turn apricot-colored, the soldiers finally came for us.

“Alright, come with us.”

In a rough manner, they led us out and marched us through several flights of stairs until we reached a particular room.

Beyond a straight line of carpet lay what was unmistakably a throne. The queen’s audience, it seemed.

Now, let’s see how she will appear.

We waited a little longer until finally, a grand fanfare resounded.

Then, the queen, adorned in a splendid dress, gracefully made her entrance and took her seat on the throne.

…I couldn’t help but be dumbfounded, and one of the soldiers pressed down on my head. Oops, that must have been disrespectful.

…No, no, no, but… but…

The queen seemed to have noticed as well. She realized that I had turned into a Blue Eyes White person.

Her face twitched slightly.

“Step back. I have something to discuss with these foreigners.”

The queen’s voice trembled a little, but still sounding as arrogant as ever.

“But, Your Majesty…”

Naturally, the soldiers were bewildered.

“Step back! Can’t you obey my orders?”

“Yes, yes!”

At the queen’s reprimand, all the soldiers and servants left the room. I’m sure she must have used some skill just now.

…And then, the queen took a deep breath and addressed me.

“You there, maid… Tell me about the type of pudding I like.”

“Yes. Your Majesty prefers a creamy pudding with just enough milk to set, rather than a dense one. You enjoy the jiggly and melty type of pudding. And you like chocolate pudding more than caramel pudding.”

The queen nodded slowly as if saying “good girl” and then suddenly turned cold eyes toward everyone else.

“Hey… What kind of outfit are you making my Maïto wear? You perverts!”

Even in this other world, her queenly demeanor remains intact.
