An Chuxia is surprised by the class’ reaction.

“Teacher, I’m looking for Meng Xiaonan.” Xu Nian, with a hint of a smile on her face, looks like she’s recovered. Everyone in class thinks her near-death experience scared her.

Xu Nian has already requested leave from class, and is taking advantage of the time before the driver picks her up by seeking out Xiaonan.

Xiaonan suddenly stands up, much to An Chuxia’s chagrin, and walks out of class.

“What’s going on?” Fei Lixiya tilts her head as she asks. Then, a few of the girls who were in the music room come out. The whole school knows about Xu Nian bullying An Chuxia, and being brought to the rooftop by Han Qilu.

It’s gutsy for Xu Nian to come over, but why did she seek out Meng Xiaonan instead of An Chuxia? People find suspect in this illogical situation.

“I don’t know. Let’s move positions.” An Chuxia decisively puts down her book and sneaks out with Fei Lixiya.

While changing position helps them hear voices from the outside, the noise from the classroom is too loud. Coupled with other noises from the outside, they can’t hear a thing.

Outside in the corridor, the two girls stand face-to-face.

Meng Xiaonan mercilessly looks down at Xu Nian. Her tone, degrading. “Why are you looking for me? I do admire your courage; you dare seek me out. Aren’t you afraid that year 1 class A will give you a beating?”

“Your classmates aren’t gangsters. They know that fists can’t solve problems. You know why they’d leave me alone so easily?” Xu Nian takes a few steps towards her and whispers in her ear. “Because the Xiaos, the Hans and the Xus have a long-standing relationship and it would be adverse for this union to be severed!”

“You say these words but in the end, what does it mean?” Meng Xiaonan backs away a step at a time. “Doesn’t the east pull the west? Just say what you came over to say.”

Smirking, she pulls out the bear band-aid from her pocket.

Shocked momentarily, Xiaonan asks, “You expect me to throw more away?”

“You sure that’s all this band-aid is to you?” Her mouth curls maliciously. She sighs dramatically. “I just wanted to tell you that… ah… guys prefer pretty smiles over strong girls like you. I’m returning this band-aid to you because you’re so fond of it.”

Xu Nian puts the band-aid in Meng Xiaonan’s hand and says, “I’m so tired today, I’m heading home. Go draw your pictures. Bye!”

She walks away smugly, her high heels punctuating her departure.

An Chuxia has long gone back to her seat, waiting for Xiaonan’s return. Chuxia can’t help but worry, so she intentionally asks the teacher if she can step out to use the toilet.

The corridor is empty with the exception of Meng Xiaonan. Xu Nian has long gone.

An Chuxia approaches her. Meng Xiaonan is staring blankly at the band-aid in her hand. Puzzled, Chuxia asks, “Where is she? Why are you just standing here?”

Upon seeing Chuxia, Xiaonan chuckles as she waves the band-aid. “Don’t you think this looks ugly?”

An Chuxia doesn’t comprehend, but she still responds. “It’s not ugly. Ah, it’s cute.”

“Cute?” Meng Xiaonan tightens her grip on the band-aid before walking to the railing and throwing it out. “I also don’t feel good. More sick, you know?”

This isn’t normal for Meng Xiaonan. An Chuxia rests her hand on Xiaonan’s shoulder and asks gently, “Tell me, why was that girl looking for you?”

“Nothing!” Meng Xiaonan puts up a slovenly appearance. “She just gave me a band-aid. Go back to class. I have to use the toilet.”

Upon hearing those words, An Chuxia intensely stares at Xiaonan’s face. She may look relaxed, but her expression is sorrowful. She can tell from Xiaonan’s eyes she’s rather upset.

But she knows pressing the matter won’t help. So An Chuxia says, “Then I’m returning to class. Once you’re done in the toilet, come back quickly. Don’t run around. Okay?”

Xiaonan nods her head. She turns and heads toward the toilet. Once in, she checks for anyone in it before picking a stall and closing the lid on one of the toilet seats. Then, she sits, dazed. Her mind wanders to what Xiao Mingluo said: “Go back and calm down!” Over and over, the rejection throws her off.

Not long after, a whimpering sound can be heard in the toilet.

Meng Xiaonan should return to class, but instead, she goes to the headmaster’s office.

“Take leave?” The teacher asks while correcting papers. “Why do you want to leave? Are you sick?”

Meng Xiaonan thinks in her head, “It’s not that I’m sick, I don’t feel well.”

The teacher raises his head and looks at her, only to see her head down and her eyes, listless.

“What’s wrong?” The teacher asks sternly as he puts his pen down.

But he was in for a surprise. Meng Xiaonan carelessly states she wants to leave. “I just want to go home. Why don’t you let me leave? I’m not feeling well, and I’m hurting all over, and I feel uncomfortable! “

The teacher quickly reacts to her emotional outburst. “Okay, okay. I’ll write you a note and approve it so you can leave.”

He’s already given permission to a girl from Class A to be excused for a few days since she’s involved in the rooftop incident that also involved Han Qilu. She said her case was that of life or death. He can give leeway to this girl to leave and get rest today.

He can’t tell if there’s something physically wrong with her, but he grants her the leave. It’s just rather strange that these kids are so liberal about asking for excuses.

Once she exits the office, Meng Xiaonan wipes away her tears. She just wants to go home, but she thinks of An Chuxa. She returns to class begrudgingly.

“You applied for leave?” An Chuxia asks with doubt. “Can’t you tell me what happened?”

“I’m sorry, Chuxia, but I’m really not in the mood to talk about it right now. I’ll tell you when I’m ready.” Xiaonan loudly inhales through her nose before leaving.

An Chuxia wants to send her off but the school bell rings.

“What happened?” Fei Lixiya asks in a whisper while waiting for the teacher. She saw Meng Xiaonan leave class.

An Chuxia shakes her head and sighs. “I think she’s shaken from what happened earlier. I have to ask Xiao Mingluo.”

After the geography lesson, An Chuxia was about to run out of class when Liu Dongyu appears by the door and blocks her.

“An Chuxia, where are you going?”

She stops and asks, “Dongyu, how are you? Didn’t I say you shouldn’t be so formal with me?”

“Okay. I have two lessons left.” Unaccustomed to his haircut, he runs his fingers over his flat top. “My father said to have lunch with you in the cafeteria at noon since Han Qilu would more than likely eat outside.”

Liu Dongyu isn’t accustomed to Han Qilu’s title, so he calls him by name.

She nods and says, “Now you know where my class is, I’ll wait for you.”

“Good. I’m in second year class E,” Dongyu says. Before he forgets, he asks, “Where’s your friend? The one that was in the hospital and almost got into that fight with the girls.”

“Oh, Jiangnan. She took time off today and went home.” She says this without thinking.

The gleam in his eyes dampen after hearing Chuxia’s reply.

She doesn’t notice the change in him, but says, “By the way, don’t call her Jiangnan. She’s called by her nickname, Meng Xiaonan, like, man.”

“She seems like fun,” Liu Dongyu says, laughing. “Okay, I’m heading back to class. I got your phone number from dad. I sent you a text so you have my number. Save it.”

“I know.” An Chuxia nods.

Recess is only ten minutes long, and it won’t be long enough for her to ask Xiao Mingluo what happened. Besides, she wouldn’t know what to say to Han Qilu if she runs into him.

As soon as Liu Dongyu leaves Class A, a few swooning girls run up to An Chuxia.

“An Chuxia, who is that good-looking guy with the flat top? He looks dreamy!”

“And the way he talks is also handsome, how fair is that?!” Another girl says.

Liu Dongyu is handsome? She freezes as she contemplates the statement. Since she isn’t with Han Qilu anymore, she can concern herself with other boys. Come to think of it. Liu Dongyu is like a ray of sunshine; he is both handsome and tough. Apparently Stein girls find him attractive, too!

“He… ah… is…,” An Chuxia says before stopping herself while talking about Dongyu. Should she introduce him as steward Han’s son? Wouldn’t that be bad?

After all, he lives in the same home where Han Qilu lives.
