Onslaught Heading for the School Paper

“Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care, but he thinks I’ll embarrass the family. He talks nonsense. It’s unlikely I’ll ever know what he’s thinking, but this uncertainty is going to be the death of me!” An Chuxia says while making a beheading gesture, making Ling Hanyu tear up with laughter.

It means that Mankuai will hear about this affair, and she’ll panic and rush to Stein, only to bury Chuxia alive once more.

“Whatever. Go see what he wants.” Ling Hanyu points to the direction Han Qilu went through.

No way is An Chuxia following him!

They’re at the school newspaper building. The room isn’t big, but the furnishing is quite good. Information and photos are stacked, giving the place an office feel.

There are ten people lined up against a side of the wall; their hands are perched on top of their heads.

Han Qilu reaches out and unclips the photos hanging from a rope. These are the originals. The ones posted in the paper were enlarged and specially treated.

“You have quite the ability, don’t you?” The snapped photo in his hand shakes the people up.

There are no girls in the staff: just stereotypical boys, and all of them wear thick eye glasses and are bony. They all look alike. No wonder the school paper reports like this, An Chuxia secretly thinks.

“Where’s the girl?” Han Qilu side glances at Ling Hanyu. Qilu can tell from his eyes that Hanyu let her go. To make up for it, Hanyu says, “There wouldn’t be any girls in this group. I should go find one.”

That’s strange……

Hearing Hanyu’s observation, Han Qilu asks condescendingly, “Who took the photos?”

A moment later, a trembling hand shoots up. Qilu’s eyes fall on the nerdy boy whose eyes won’t look up.

“So tell me, are you looking down on the Hans or are you being ambitious enough to eat a leopard?” Han Qilu asks, calm amidst the chaos.

The small boy’s shoulder shakes, his head, bent low. The boy can’t sink any deeper into his knees.

“Young master Han, please listen. In our club, recruiting is hard, especially girls. Because of this, we started going into a state of depression. I was hoping that through this [gimmick], we can recruit more members… .” He is being honest. But then, if it weren’t for this problem, he wouldn’t risk so much to take a candid photo of An Chuxia!

“So that’s why you were secretly taking photos!” An Chuxia’s a bit surprised, trying to make sense of it all. “Rest assured, I’ll try and help you recruit and get some girls to join the paper. But seriously, don’t casually spread rumors or secretly take photos of anyone.”

“Really? Thank you, An Chuxia classmate!” The boys look at each other, immediately thanking her.

Han Qilu definitely doesn’t understand her way of thinking! Isn’t she annoyed by what they did to her? Instead of punishing them, she helps them. She needs a serious a** kicking to straighten out her brain, right?

But since she said her piece, Han Qilu can’t make an example out of them. What is it to him anyway? They have no association to each other.

He sniffs as he touches the tip of his nose as he looks around. Han Qilu leaves, and An Chuxia is left behind. She slowly walks up to Hanyu and lets out a chortle. “Young master Ling, can you do me a small favor?”

“Huh?” Ling Hanyu squints a bit while looking at her. “I’ll do whatever you ask me.”

“Hahaha,” she laughs. “Would you be able to give me a ride home to the Hans? I miss riding in your car, and I was hoping to sit in it.”

She knows Han Qilu is around, but she doesn’t want him to take her home.

With a decisive shake of his head, Ling Hanyu refuses.

“Why?! It’s not like you have anything better to do.” An Chuxia rushes to say as she unloads her mobile and her meal ticket from her pocket. She doesn’t have money for the cab fare, and she is too embarrassed to call the butler back to pick her up from school.

Hanyu knows she’s staring at him so hard, he can feel her gaze boring a hole through his head.

“Why won’t you look at me?” She scowls at him as she sees goosebumps form on his skin.

His eyes focus on her when he says, “Aren’t you afraid of Qilu?”

Afraid of Han Qilu? Is this a joke? Isn’t he crazy to think she’s scared of him? She raises her head before saying, “I’m not afraid of him. You’re talking nonsense. Nonsense!”

Seeing her reaction, Ling Hanyu shrugs non-committedly. “I have to do business in A City anyway. I am also planning on eating dinner around there. If you don’t mind joining me… .”

“I don’t mind!” she blurts out the words easily.

She has to wait until after dinner! Just to get back home, she’s willing to go through the hassle, right?

“What are you thinking? I advise you to return with Qilu since you can still catch up to him and ride back home together. Even if I take you home, eventually, you have to face him.”

An Chuxia has to go back to the Hans, and the drive will take another twenty to thirty minutes. He has to think about driving back, too.

“Why are you still standing here? Remember, it’s not like before, he doesn’t like you!” Hanyu deliberately says so she understands what he’s trying to do. “I’m taking off. Hurry! Bye!” He takes off with lightning speed, leaving An Chuxia rooted in place in the newspaper office.

Caught in a dilemma, a small boy cautiously approaches An Chuxia. “An Chuxia classmate, do you need a ride home?”

Before she can answer, another boy volunteers. “I can take you home.”

“Really?” She looks at him with shining stars in her eyes. “Thank you. Thank you very much!”

“Jie, we should be thanking you. Not only did you not blame us, but you helped us from being scolded. Let’s go, it’s getting late.” The boy smiles at her, his dimple appears.

“Let’s go!” An Chuxia waves goodbye to everyone walking with them.

As she and the boy reaches the sidewalk right outside the building, a figure comes toward them.

An Chuxia was about to scream when she hears Han Qilu’s voice. “How long will you let the young master wait for you?”

Didn’t Ling Hanyu confirm that Han Qilu doesn’t like her? Then what is going on? The boy next to her assesses the situation, and hastens his steps as Han Qilu quickly reaches them. “You two talk. I’m off!”

“Eh?” An Chuxia calls after the boy, but he has already run off.

“What? Are you just going to keep standing there?” Han Qilu exposes a trace of impatience, shoving his hands in his front pockets.

A long shadow pulls from Han Qilu as the sun sets behind him. This smelly boy, why is this rare moment of expression confusing her? This kind of behavior can’t help but make her want to get close to him.

He is the devil disguised in angel’s clothes!

The footsteps stop, and with a slight turn, he hears him say a bit louder, “Why are you still standing?”

“Huh? Oh!” An Chuxia returns to the present as she looks at Qilu.

If Meng Xiaonan was around, wouldn’t she die laughing from this? Instead of ruminating, she quickly catches up to Han Qilu. As soon as he sees her move, he turns around and starts walking.

They walk away from the school into the Stein’s underground parking area, where teachers park their cars when they’re working overtime. These teachers are under high pressure to ensure grades are good. Otherwise, they’re dismissed. After all, their salaries are outrageously high!

Among the parked cars, Han Qilu walks directly to a silver sports car and unlocks it. Suddenly, she is taken aback. She hurries up her pace to get seated. It took no time for him to pull the car out into the traffic.

She wonders if all rich people are the same- do they change cars as quickly as they change clothes?

Driving fast, her hair fans out to a tangled, beautiful mess in the wind. But as she calms down, she realizes they’re not headed home! She asks loudly, “Where are we going?”

She knows she can be heard clearly, but with the wind whipping, she can’t tell if he’s ignoring her. In a sports car, she knows they can get home in ten minutes. She’s still scared, subconsciously gripping the seatbelt.

She asks once more, “Where are we going?”
