Thankfully, Qiu YiBai was only joking with her.

Upon seeing Shen NingXin’s surprised expression, this person first paused, then slightly turned her face to look out the window, her body upright and her composition cold.

She appeared to be serious.

But in the next second, Shen NingXin suddenly heard her quietly let out a chuckle.

She was laughing at her, right? And even needed to do it so secretly.

Shen NingXin: “. . . . . .” A little too much now ah.

Knowing that she couldn’t argue over this crybaby, she sighed internally. In the end, she still stepped forward to thank this person, sincerely saying, “Thank you, President Qiu.”

Her voice sounded really pleasant, like a breeze blowing gently on the leaves of a tree with a smile.

As soon as her voice fell, Qiu YiBai’s expression suddenly froze.

The majority of the people who went out to eat were returning by now, and the sound of their talking and laughing traveled into their ears, loud and noisy.

But it was very quiet here.

Because of Shen NingXin’s words, the atmosphere quieted down all of a sudden. A moment later, Qiu YiBai’s ears even reddened against her will.

“Okay, hurry up and go rest,” she coughed dryly, subconsciously waving her hand as her voice became as fierce as before, “Take the medicine with you. The sooner you drink it, the sooner you get better.”

“Only then can you continue to work.”

She even added, “Shen NingXin, you now owe me a favor ah.”

How cute and childish at the same time.

Shen NingXin looked at her, and all of a sudden, she was somehow in a good mood. Before she even opened her mouth, she already began to smile widely.

Then she quickly nodded and agreed, “I got it, President Qiu.”

The medicine worked very well. Shen NingXin had a surprisingly good sleep after taking it.

She didn’t even have to hug anything, and she didn’t have those unpleasant dreams again.

After waking up, she felt refreshed.

And perhaps it was a psychological effect, but she felt as though her cold had gotten much better than before.

She sat on the bed and lazily stretched. Shen NingXin picked up her phone to look at the time, but just as the screen turned on, she was suddenly shocked.

She unknowingly slept for four hours . . .

Work had already ended!

There was a sudden bang in her mind, and Shen NingXin didn’t hesitate any more. She hurriedly got up to wash her face, then speedily returned to the office.

When she walked in, the surrounding area was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.

“. . . . . .”

Everyone was expectedly gone.

Suddenly, panic and anxiety surged into her heart. She stood by the door in a bewildered silence, then subconsciously raised her head and glanced in the direction of Qiu YiBai’s office.

It was also empty.

She actually got off work on time for once.

It seemed like she really was the only one left in the office.

Remembering her unfinished tasks, Shen NingXin didn’t hesitate anymore and hurried back to her workstation.

She turned on the computer and opened WeChat to verify what she still needed to complete. Just as she was about to sit down, she suddenly saw a file on the table that wasn’t there before.

Upon opening, inside was the form Zhao Jie sent her this morning. As she scanned through, she saw that the file was confirmed and the certificate of origin had been entered.

Even the latest shipment record was already written.

Was it . . . Qiu YiBai who did this?

Shen NingXin paused and lifted all the documents. As expected, she found a note Qiu YiBai left for her—

“I had nothing to do, so I helped you finish it. No need to thank me.”

There wasn’t a name written on the back. Turns out our President Qiu never left a name after doing good deeds.

But Shen NingXin still recognized it at a glance; it was indeed her handwriting.

When she realized this, a warm current surged in Shen NingXin’s heart.

She picked up the note and looked at it carefully. In the end, she couldn’t make herself throw it away and instead, stuck it onto the side of her computer.

Her lips lifted unconsciously, and she thought sincerely that when she had time, she must treat this crybaby to a meal.

After all . . . she owed her a big favor~

The night quickly passed.

The next day, Shen NingXin’s condition was much better than before. Thinking of Qiu YiBai’s help last night, she woke up early to buy the pastry puffs she liked so much.

But she didn’t buy too much, fearing that this crybaby would eat too much and get another toothache.

As she thought about telling her to eat less later, she got on the bus. The bus swayed the entire way and quickly reached the company.

She used up some time to buy the pastry puffs, so most people had already arrived at the office by now. She clocked in and quickly walked to her workstation. When she raised her head, she suddenly discovered that Qiu YiBai was absent.

Perhaps she went out to do something.

Shen NingXin stared at the empty chair for a moment but didn’t think too much about it, quickly devoting herself to work.

It was still very busy today.

Zhao Jie, who had been on business trips for a few days in a row, came back. She even signed several big orders. Shen NingXin worked on the contracts, production bills, and packaging, and the whole morning passed by busily.

When she looked up again, Qiu YiBai still wasn’t there.

She couldn’t help but feel a little curious, so during her free time, she asked Zhao Jie about Qiu YiBai’s whereabouts.

“She probably went to the factory,” Zhao Jie said, “I happened to meet Assistant Han on the way here, and she told me.”

“Apparently, Vice President Hu, Vice President Zhang, and President Wang from the domestic trade side also went along. There’s probably something important going on and they’re having a meeting.”

“I see,” Shen NingXin nodded in response, thanking Zhao Jie for her answer.

She then glanced at the pastry puffs sitting on the table and was silent for a moment before she finally sighed softly.

It seemed like she wouldn’t have a chance to give her this today.

Guess she’ll share them with everyone.

“. . . . . .”

It wasn’t very busy during the afternoon today.

After finishing the work at hand, Shen NingXin took out her phone.

She subconsciously clicked on Qiu YiBai’s Weibo and saw that she hadn’t changed the top post yet. It was still the pig hot water bag with the note that said her name stuck on it. There was nothing new as she scrolled down. They were still the posts she had already seen 800 times.

The amusement park guide, the toothache after eating too much chocolate, the embarrassing incident with the height-increasing insoles, and the childish and cute puppy line-up . . .

As though there were a voice, even if it was just looking at the text, Shen NingXin was able to imagine Qiu YiBai’s face on the other side of the phone, her expression either prideful or excited.

She then laughed out of reflex.

Afterward, a feeling of gratification suddenly surged from the bottom of her heart.

It wasn’t as though she had never seen Qiu YiBai’s Weibo before, and nor was her understanding of Qiu YiBai only at the surface level.

In her impression, this person seemed to often be unhappy in the past.

The content in her Weibo also wasn’t as exciting as now. Scrolling down, the majority of them were her crying.

“I happened to overhear a coworker talk behind my back today.”

“Yesterday, xxx returned from a business trip and brought everyone souvenirs, but there was nothing for me.”

“The day before yesterday, I fell just as I left for work. It hurt like I was going to die. Although I didn’t lose face since no one saw, I also didn’t get any comfort, so I could only cry in secret.”

There were a lot of these posts, and along with feeling surprised, Shen NingXin’s heart also ached for her.

Therefore, it was impossible for her to be indifferent when encountering something related to Qiu YiBai.

People inevitably thought too much when idle.

At this moment, lunch break was about to be over. Shen NingXin clocked back in and picked up a cup to fill it with coffee.

Just as she was about to stand up, someone behind her suddenly called her.

As she turned to look, she saw Pei Qing smiling at her with her lips curled.

This person was dressed really well today. An apricot-colored coat was draped over a famous brand’s light-colored dress that she wore. Her long hair was lightly scattered across her shoulders, and the light makeup looked very simple and innocent.

All the colors were evidently very gentle, and the makeup and hairstyle also matched, but Shen NingXin couldn’t help but feel that something didn’t fit.

But she didn’t express it and rather said, “What’s the matter?”

“The snacks that I ordered have arrived.” Pei Qing inadvertently glanced at the pastry box she placed on the table, then quickly raised a smile.

“I bought a little too much, so I can’t carry all of them myself. Could you do me a favor and come down with me?”

As though afraid that Shen NingXin would refuse, she quickly added another sentence, “It’s bought for everyone, you will help, right?~”

She said this sentence quite loudly, so many people heard it.

If she refused now, people would think she had no manners.

After a moment, Shen NingXin said yes.

The elevatory quickly reached the first floor.

The sun was out and the breeze felt very comfortable. After getting the snacks, Pei Qing didn’t want to go back immediately, so she slowed down her steps.

She even began chatting as she walked, talking to Shen NingXin about work.

Shen NingXin didn’t want to have too much contact with her, and the perfunctory meaning behind her responses was obvious.

But Pei Qing seemed to be unaffected, continuing to talk to her endlessly, starting from the factory to the Domestic Trade Department, then from the Domestic Trade Department to the Foreign Trade Department.

In the end, she even brought up Qiu YiBai. Her voice was inadvertently lowered, and as if exchanging secrets, she said, “President Qiu has been going to the factory so often lately.”

“Really?” Shen Ningxin answered, “But isn’t that normal?”

“That can’t be.” Pei Qing glanced at her, then subconsciously raised her hand and twirled her hair, her voice soft and tender as she said, “It wasn’t so often before. You came late that’s why you didn’t notice anything strange.”

“But I’ve heard that recently, our President Qiu and our big boss President Chen have gotten really close. I bet the reason she’s like this now . . .”

Before she could finish speaking, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her feet.

Upon looking down, the big bucket of beverage Shen NingXin was carrying somehow fell, perfectly landing on her feet.

“What are you doing!” Intense pain quickly climbed up her feet, and Pei Qing screamed, standing on her left foot and hopping several times. “It hurts so much!”

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Shen NingXin apologized as soon as her voice fell, “My hand slipped.”

“Is it serious?,” she then asked, “I’m really sorry. I didn’t hold onto it well, and I apologize that it fell on you.”

Her attitude was pretty good.

When she screamed, many people looked over. Shen NingXin also apologized so sincerely that it wouldn’t look good for her to get angry.

She was silent for a moment, and in the end, could only wave her hand with a cold face. “Forget it.”

“What was I saying just now?” Pei Qing frowned and walked forward a few steps, then said, “Oh right, I heard about it two days ago that our President Qiu . . .”

Before she could finish speaking, her feet hurt again.

She raised her eyes, and Shen NingXin was standing there, looking at her apologetically.

She even copied her tone of voice and apologized to her in a very sorrowful tone, “Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t hold onto it well again, I apologize.”

“You wouldn’t get mad, right?”
